Mimoza is a very talented stylist and colorist. I recently went back to her after several bad experiences with other stylists and was amazed at how great my hair looks. She is a true professional and clearly knows color. My hair is prone to turn brassy and she was able to get it the perfect shade of gorgeous blond. Mimoza is very accommodating and offers later appointments. The prices are also a lot more reasonable than other salons. I also had the pleasure of being styled by Mimoza for a wedding outside of the salon. She made everyone look beautiful and was able to work with very difficult clients. read more

Called and requested to go in on the day of a snow storm when most businesses were closed. Free parking across the street, metered parking right in front of the shop. I had the shop to myself and the lady who did my hair was super personable, efficient and did a nice job with the Brazilian blow out. The process involves a shampoo, application of the product on each strand while your hair is wet, being fine tooth combed straight and then blow dried out. The blow dry creates fumes and I had to shut my eyes to avoid irritation, the hairstylist wears a mask and she cracked the door open a bit to ventilate. This is common practice at every place I've been to using this material to smooth and strengthen the hair. After the blow dry, the hair is flat ironed at 450 degrees to seal in the treatment and leaves your hair silky smooth. I purchased the Peter Coppola keratin blow out spray for upkeep and use moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner which is paralen, sulfate free. This treatment is expect to stay for about 4 months and can be extended with proper maintenance using products that support the Brazilian blow out line. I've found that using any sulfate free shampoo is fine for upkeep, specifically now I use Biolage sugar shine which is cheaper than moroccan oil. The process took about and hour and a half. She did such a great job that I'm bringing my sister to her for the same treatment. The pricing is on par with other salons and the deal I purchased came with a haircut that came out great. I am SHOCKED by some reviews about Mimoza not being professional and/or friendly. She is amazing! A few years ago I walked into Impressions By Mimoza with a Groupon not knowing what to expect and Mimoza has been doing my hair ever since. I've gone to her for haircuts, highlights, baylage and when I got married, Mimoza did my hair and extensions and it was stunning!! (All my bridesmaids lovedddd their hair as well). She truly cares about her customers and their happiness. Just a few weeks ago I decided to go ice blonde with some root. My roots lifted different than I had desired so I called to ask if we could change the root color... She actually made an appointment with me on her day off to make sure my hair was perfect for my friends destination wedding. (And it was). It's also important for me to mention that my hair has never been healthier. She is super sweet and personable. Her salon is so quaint and comfy. I highly recommend her. Can't say enough good things about this salon and the woman who owns it. Always accommodating, listens to what you want, not pretentious, never tries to up-sell you. Additionally, tonight, during the busy holiday season, the owner came to my house at 9pm - after all day at the salon - to blow out my hair, as I was home with 3 sick kids and couldn't get out. know before you go -- poorly run small business! shame! I purchased a Groupon for a Brazilian Blowout and Haircut, I have longer hair so I traveled from central NJ to Staten Island, NY for a consultation. We agreed on an appointment and price, knowing that they'd most likely charge me extra for hair length. They asked me to cancel my Groupon and just pay the money to the salon. The morning of my appointment it snowed over 4 Inches, making a 40 mile commute impossible (Single lane roads towards the Salon in Staten Island). I called the Salon the MINUTE it opened to reschedule and got a voicemail. I subsequently called for FIVE days, from three different phone numbers and left several messages for a call to reschedule. Finally, five days later, Mimoza herself called me back and let me know she would not honor the Groupon because I cancelled the appointment on the same day and "4inches of snow in New York is not a big deal." I know the real reason my appointment was cancelled is because I actually purchased the Groupon and didn't pay the owner the full value in cash. I hate to write negative reviews because I know they impact small business, but buyer's beware of purchasing the Groupon, this salon has NO interest in honoring its commitments. read more

I never ever right a bad review, it's been bothering me for months and had to let it out! I went there about 5 months ago to get some caramel highlights. I have dark hair and the owner was doing my hair. She asked questions on what I was using on my hair and I explained that I only dye my hair with regular haircolor. When she put the foils in my hair my head felt like I had a match on it and told her to take it off. When she rinsed my hair my hair was like a rubberband, it kept breaking off all on top. She then panicked and said she did not know why this happened she used a 40 developer. That's way too strong first of all and as the owner I would expect her to know better. She conditioned my hair and I sat there and was so uoset! She blew put my hair and it was all breaking off...at the end she never apologized and charged me full price! I left there with no highlights and burned hair. I should of refused to pay..I'm in the service business, but I did pay. I'm writing this now, because my hair is still breaking off and damaged and I should let everyone know so it doesn't happen to you! read more

To start off, I rarely write reviews specially negative ones, but the unprofessional attitude i was given when calling to make an appointment is something that can ruin your day. I am so disappointed, i purchased a groupon deal and was looking forward to getting my hair done but as im trying to make the appointment i received an unwelcoming tone once i mentioned the groupon voucher. I was consulting the lady of what i need to be done and she wasn't really being helpful or friendly the opposite of so many other salons I've dealt with, she kept mentioning how much originally they would charge me and what i want is gonna be extra blah blah, i mean i wouldn't mind paying extra if you give a good vibe and service..
