We visited impossible acres last weekend. I went on recommendation from a patient of mine.I took my grandchildren, while I liked the variety of the pumpkins available. I did not like that they had a small petting zoo for the kids.Some of the animals especially the baby chick's and baby ducks seemed traumatized.I personally don't think it is right that a also so young ate being handled by multiple people all day.I am not sure that the owners really care about that.The owners charge more to pet the animals.Im pretty sure the profit means more the the baby animals.Agin that's my perspective as an animal lover.I felt sorry for the animals and that I payed for that. read more

This place made me sad. I grew up in the area and often came to this pumpkin patch on school field trips and also with my mom over the years but this will have been my last visit. 1. The worst part was the animals. Oh. My. God. The poor calf had poop on its tail/back. The white pony's mane was matted. The donkey needs its hooves trimmed badly. The poor kittens they had crusty eyes and noses, held by so many people, completely limp. They were so tired. The puppies were also exhausted. One guy was walking around filling waters but no one was really watching the kids mishandling the animals. 2. There was nothing else to do there. No activities? Just a sad little hay bale maze for kids and hay bales to climb on. We came sort of late in the season so there weren't a lot of pumpkins to look through. Compared to other patches this one was lackluster, disappointing, and frankly quite depressing. read more

We had such a positive experience at Impossible Acres. The owners were very kind and helpful. They had many fruits available for U-Pick, and super affordable prices!! We grabbed cherries, peaches, and black berries, but they have more to offer & various varieties of each fruit!!! Cannot recommend this place enough. 10/10 experience! We'll be back for sure. So much fun to do with the whole family! I took my nieces and nephew here Sunday afternoon to pick fruits for our pool party later. There were apricots, cherries, peaches, apriums, plums and nectarines! The plums didn't look ripe yet so we picked a bunch of the others. The blackberries were the hardest because of the thorns; that's why you only see 3 in my picture. To get the best tasting cherries, you had to walk deep into the field and pick from the highest branch you can find. A lot of people rush to the first few rows and pick all of the fruits. Nectarines were still a little small compared to the groceries, but they were really good! It's cash only so whatever you pick, make sure you have enough to pay for it. read more

The petting zoo conditions aren't humane. Kittens seem ill; they're borderline comatose. The puppies and kittens are way too young to be constantly poked and prodded at and roughly handled by five year olds. Don't go here unless you want to leave sad :( read more

This was my second time here and it did not disappoint. If you love animals then this is the place for you.. They have so many baby animals: pigs, kittens, sheep, cows, horses, chickens, donkey, goats and so much more!! You can hold, touch and love on these animals as long as you want which is the best part of this place. We have came during Halloween so only wished they were open for a longer period of time. The kiddos love this place and so do the adults. Only down size is if you are coming for pumpkins I don't think they have as big a selection as other pumpkin patches nor all of the other things that go along with the patch (hayrides and other Halloween stuff) but if you are going for the animals than they definitely fulfill your need! DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. Very over crowded and overwhelming for little animals! Way too many young children not being supervised by their parents with how to hold/treat animals. No staff around to enforce any rules. Kittens being passed around constantly, crying, in desperate need of a break to eat and drink. One small child grabbing a kitten by its head! No parent around to tell them to be gentle. Tiny tiny kittens in a bucket crying to be nursed. No mama cat around. Piglets being harassed and chased around the pen. Calf laying in its pen looking extremely thin. Tiny chicks being grabbed at constantly. Goats tied to the fence on a short leash. A really sad and abusive environment for these little animals. Masks only required upstairs in barn, except that even employees don't wear them up there. I talked to an employee and referenced their sign that says "please wear masks" upstairs because social distancing is not possible, and she said they let people do whatever they want. Who knew that such an incredible place existed in close proximity to Davis? After visiting my friend for her graduation, she decided to take us berry picking here with her family. I've never done it on a farm before; only out in the wilderness. Since most people aren't exposed to anything outside of your typical selection of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, I wasn't expecting anything different here. I was happily surprised to find some of the best berries that my mouth has ever tasted: marionberries and boysenberries. They seemed to not have ollalieberries at the time, but I was alright with that. The best part about berry picking is being out in the open and picking out that perfectly shaped, ripe, and juicy berry. They're pretty lenient about sampling, so you can spend as much time trying to figure out which ones you like the best. I think my friend ended up sampling more than she bought. For $1.99 a pound, it's also a phenomenal bargain compared to what you find at any grocery store, even on sale. The one thing they could work on is providing more car travel friendly containers so that your berries don't beg to be consumed on the drive home. read more

Came here on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon. My friends and I love peaches and were sick of paying high prices at Safeway for fruits. When we found out that it was only 99 cents a pound we had to check it out! When we arrived, we were greeted by a young man (probably the owner's kid). He told us where everything were and what kind of fruits they had currently. He said that they didn't spray their fruits so we can eat it straight off the trees if we wanted to try out for sweetness. We started with the plums. There weren't too make plum trees and majority weren't too big. We tried a few plums and they were pretty sour and not really ready to pick. I got a few hoping they will get better in a few days, but they were just okay. Then we were off to find out peaches. I really like white peaches over yellow, but all we saw were yellow. They weren't very big though. Not like what you would see at grocery stores. Oh I think these were dwarf peaches. Even though they weren't very big, they tasted good! I tried to look for not too ripe so it can slowly ripe through out the week. As we keep walking and picking peaches, we found bigger and better ones! As we searched our way back towards to entrance we found white peaches!! At last, after picking so many other fruits already! I had to get some even though I didn't even know if I'll have time to finish it all. The white peaches were decent size and just the right amount of sweet! I love white peaches!! The only drawback is that majority of the trees there were empty so there were limited selection of tress to pick from. My roommate and I can't wait to go back to get more! It was totally worth the little bit of drive to the outskirts of davis. Also, I like that I don't have to travel far to go fruit picking. It's pretty fun to pick your own fruits fresh off the tree. It does one good to get away from the city and become one with nature. And by nature, I mean: the beating rays of sun coming down, prickly thorns growing out of the dirt, the sound of bees buzzing around, and rows upon rows of fruit. Sure, that all may not sound like fun to some- but trust me...IT'S GREAT! On a boring summer afternoon with nothing to do in Davis while everyone is studying for finals, a friend and I Googled "Things to do in Davis." A fellow yelper had a list of of things to do in Davis. SCORE! As I scrolled down the list I noticed I've done most of them, except for IMPOSSIBLE ACRES FARM! It was a sign. A sign to go fruit picking. Plus it was a Sunday and it was open until 6pm- even better! Unfortunately we picked the hottest times of the day to go so it was pretty darn hot!! We got raspberries, blackberries, some apricots and peaches. YUM. To be exact, I got two baskets of berries, a handful of apricots and 2 peaches...all for (drumroll please!) $2.25! The fruit was delicious and I now have a new respect for berry pickers. I recommend people to check this place out, but check it out when you're wearing sneakers and long pants (those prickly plants are a pain. Literally!). A++ read more

We just left. It was recommended that we visit. Very small. The corn maze is a two and half foot tall area of slightly trampled corn husks. That isn't even the worst of it....the animal area was small but ok. But there was absolutely no oversight except a young kid who once stopped a few kids from climbing in the pig pen. There was a sign that said do not go in the pen. The kids were harassing this pig who was trying to burrow and hide. There were misbahaved kids and negligent parents handling the baby animals. The ducklings were running from people. All the animals played submissive and closed their eyes. This was seriously animal abuse. I would not recommend going nor supporting this farm just so they stop exploiting baby animals and allowing others to irresponsibly and aggressively handling baby animals. read more

Contacted Yolo Animal Welfare office. Many of these animals are in distress, malnourished. Owner claims she "rotates water buckets around in order to avoid animal diseases" but not one time have me or my group seen this rotation happen. No monitoring of 2 week old baby kittens being picked up and put down by children every 20 seconds. No COVID mask requirements between staff OR customers. No social distancing protocol, and no limit on capacity here. The mothers of both the kittens and puppies have never been seen. Owner claims "mother of dog had 10 puppies and she rotates between 5 different ones halfway throughout the day." I've been here 2 times and have seen the same puppies both times- I was here from 11 am until 2 pm and never saw the mom or owner switch dogs. When asked how old the puppies were, staff said "I don't know, a few weeks I guess." Many many concerns here. Puppies had green crust on their undersides that other puppies were attempting to lick off and unless swatted away, the puppy getting licked would cry in distress. You could feel the cow's ribs when you pet him. One goat moaned in distress so loudly when you walked away from him. 5 Aussie dogs in VERY small enclosure. Not enough space for this breed. I recommend NOT coming here and contacting the Yolo Animal Welfare office with concern to the way they keep animals and to the health and Human Resources department about COVID concerns. read more

Pumpkin Patch / Grandpa's Barn Area My family looks forward to coming here every October! Some of my favorite photos of my kids are the pictures of them in the petting zoo area. Kittens, piglets, ducklings, chicks, bunnies, goats, calfs, lambs, etc and it's only about $4 per kid with the accompanying adults being free. There are hay structures, little corn mazes, and areas set up for photo-ops that are free for everyone to enjoy. They have a beautiful variety of gourds and all sizes of pumpkins available to pick yourself and purchase. I just can't say enough positive things about this place! read more

I actually live 6 minutes away from here! Haha, there was only one girl working at the booth when I went here, and she was really sweet. She gave me a map and a few basket, then told me what was in season and what not. :) It was a fun experience, even though I got poked by all the vines on the ground. Came here with my sis while visiting UCD and found this place on yelp. It felt a bit sketchy finding this place in the middle of nowhere but farms. However, we had such an amazing time picking berries - rasberries, mungoberries, marionberries, blackberries :) and we also picked peaches off trees that were soooo delicious. There's nothing like eating your own handpicked fruit. Costs: $2.99/lb for berries and $1.99/lb for peaches/apricots. So worth it! And a great to-do in Davis. read more

Impossible Acres is fun and delicious. I've been here maybe 10 times over the last 2 years, always during May-Sept. You can choose from a large variety of fruits (right now this includes white peaches, yellow peaches, plums, apriplums (apricots + plums), cherries, and many kinds of berries). At $1.99/lb its a little pricier than the local fruit stands, but it is fun and delicious and a great place to enjoy being on a farm. I definitely recommend it, especially since it is less than 10 minutes off of the freeway and just a short drive from Davis and other neighboring towns. read more

I absolutely adore this pumpkin patch, and it is so fun to go into the petting zoo. However, there needs to be more people monitoring the petting zoo area. No one is watching and kids are extremely rough with the young animals. I saw many animals dropped and grabbed at roughly. Came here for a taste of autumn in Davis and we left satisfied. Didn't buy any pumpkins, of which there were plenty, but we did purchase admission to the petting zoo. $3 for adults. I think it cost $5 for children, but no kids in our group. Best petting zoo ever!!! There were baby animals and cuddly critters of all kinds. Baby ducks, baby pigs, baby bunnies, a soft lop rabbit, kittens, chicks, miniature goats, a burrito, and a mini horse, and a calf. Cute overload! All of the animals could be pet, and some could be held! Plus the animals seemed to be well-cared for and watched over by the staff. A great family friendly stop! read more

I came here two summers ago and brought my friend from home to live the "Davis" experience. It was great and we got some really sweet white peaches, black berries/raspberries, etc. I came back this summer and brought my roommates; one being an exchange student. I was very disappointed in the lack of oversight at each petting zoo station. There were so many kids mishandling the animals and parents who weren't paying attention. There was a baby chick that looked completely over handled to the point where it's wing was functioning well. It's so sad to see animals used in this way. read more

I had a very positive experience at this farm. I saw the farmer switch out a group of kittens for another group so they could "take a nap." All the parents there were tending to their little kids as they handled the animals so we didn't see any mistreatment. Instead we got to experience the magic of new baby animals without owning our own farm and my children will never forget it! I also overheard the farmer explaining to another patron that the small cow they had is actually one that would just be killed by the people they buy it from since it isn't a big meat or milk cow (cant remember the specific types). She likes to buy the little "worthless" animals to spare them. Someone may have seen that cow and judged it as malnourished but she is actually trying to save it. I'm not saying this place or the farmers are perfect but I do think we should be slower to judge and be so harsh. Sometimes things aren't as they seem or we caught them in a bad day. I personally was grateful also that they didn't gouge us!! $6/person is super cheap compared to everything else there is to do here. read more

Maybe it was shoulder season. We did not see a lot of berries. We got a lot of pear. They have two sites. Pls make sure you go to the u-pick farm. Will definitely go again since it is located between Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area. It is great to break the trip and get some awesome fruits also. read more

Great place for kids that love animals! My son has been telling everyone about "old McDonald's farm" since we left. Prices are great and the staff was friendly and helpful. I was completely appalled at the condition of these animals. I was there maybe 20 minutes before we had to leave we all were sick to our stomachs, even my 9 year old said mom this is kinda sad.There is 0 supervision on all the animals I saw one employee walking around with no concern for any of the animals. I saw one child throw a chick another drop a duckling, pick up a bunny by the tail and then proceed to drop it. My daughter picked up a tiny grey kitten and I panicked looking at this kitten I was sure it was dead, he was alive but completely limp with crusted eyes and nose and next to her was a maybe 4 year old child violently playing patty cake with a kitten in worse shape, yanking on his legs and shaking him. I have never in my life seen kittens so lethargic that they can not move even . Three goats tied up in the sun with no water, panting and trying to hide in the shade of 1 hay bale, I was petting one poor baby and noticed what i thought was an odd orange hair, further looking they were tied up with bailing twine.....BAILING TWINE that was so tight I couldn't get my fingers under it. The sweet skin and bones calf had so much diarrhea on his tail I couldn't believe it. The pony's hair was tied in multiple tight knots and you could tell his hooves had been severely overgrown ( they were clipped now but were completely curled upwards. This place is solely out for profit and could care less about these animals. The sad part is these poor sick and abused animals are all up for sale with no questions asked. read more
