This farm was easy to find and it's large. The road and ample parking are gravel/dirt. We did the tour which was mostly about the history of the farm and different types of lavender. We did get to have some small samples of lavender coffee, scones, cookies and lemonade. It was all just okay, but a nice added touch to the tour. A good overall value for $10 and the u-pick lavender was $12.50 a bunch. The folks working there were very friendly and helpful. They had many items for purchase including things like lotions and hydrosols. Honestly I think the tour could be skipped and just go straight to taking photos and picking lavender. I didn't try the lavender ice cream but all who did said it was great. You should visit early in the day as it gets very hot, and if you're picking lavender you're completely out in the open under the intense sun and there are lots of bees so be very careful. This is an organic farm. Right now is prime lavender season, so try to go within the next couple weeks.

    Fields of Lavender!

Our photography group was invited here to enjoy the fields of lavender. We spent a calming afternoon at the lavender farm in an idyllic setting. Appreciate the warm hospitality of the farm's creator who was happy to answer questions. The lavender was blooming, and bees love it also. The farm gifted me with a small sachet of lavender flower buds and the fragrance was heavenly. After photographing the lavender out in the sun, it was so nice to sit at a picnic table under those big old trees and eat lavender ice cream. Doesn't get more magical than that! One thing that might be nice to have in the shop are lavender wands. These are sprigs of lavender woven together with colored ribbons. Saw these in Martha Stewart Living magazine back in the day and they are quite decorative.

06/24/2019: Still had enough lavenders left for our photos

Review #153 - 2019 I never knew there was a lavender field out in Capay, because the only place I can think of that exists in Capay is Cache Creek Casino. Hahaha I accidentally came across their Facebook event page for Lavender Weekend, which actually happened on June 22nd & 23rd. Sadly, I missed the event since I found out about it pretty last minute & my son was too tired to make the drive out with me on the 23rd. However, I decided to call & Sherri answered the phone right away letting us know that we were welcomed to actually come and take pictures any day of the week. Luckily, the kids were willing to make the ride out with me on Monday, June 24th, so I was able to see the beautiful lavender field and get a few nice pictures. Unfortunately, since the lavender event had already taken place, the majority of the full bloomed lavenders had already been harvested so we didn't get a whole lot of bright purple shots, but it was still worth the drive out. I'll have to add this place to my future place to visit before they harvest the lavenders. They have a little shed that they dry out the lavenders, but we didn't get to go inside since the kids were getting antsy & wanted to leave, but we did drive by to check it out.

The Flower Barn is located on a beautiful property where you can also enjoy brunch, host a wedding, or explore the garden grounds, all of which seem worth experiencing on their own. As someone who loves creative activities, this was an experience I would highly recommend. Walking into the Flower Barn felt like stepping into a magical storybook cottage. Dried flowers hung from the ceiling and lined the walls, creating an incredibly aesthetic and charming atmosphere. It is definitely a place where you will want to take photos. We were welcomed by Sandra, who was sincere, warm, and genuinely caring. She provided helpful guidance throughout the workshop and was wonderful to talk to. She would often bring over additional flowers that matched the look and feel I was going for, which made the experience feel very personal. You are able to make your bouquet as large or as small as you like, as long as it fits inside the provided metal container. The hospitality extended beyond just Sandra. The owner and Kim, the social media manager, were also very welcoming and happy to answer any questions we had. It felt like everyone there truly cared about making the experience special. At the end of the workshop, you bring your finished bouquet in the metal container to Sandra, and she carefully wraps it in paper and ties it with a ribbon. That final touch made the whole experience feel even more thoughtful and complete. Overall, I highly recommend this workshop not only for the creative joy of working with dried florals, but also for the genuine kindness and hospitality shown throughout the event. I will definitely be back to create another bouquet or try one of their other activities.

Review #320 - 2018 I…read morehad this place bookmarked after seeing all their ads on Facebook announcing their "You Pick Pomegranates" for just one weekend a year. My sister's family really likes pomegranate so I decided to invite her to come along. We originally planned to visit this place on Saturday, but she had something else come up for her kid's school so we ended up coming on Sunday, October 21st. I showed up around 9:30 AM, and there were a whole lot of cars already parked in their lot. My sister texted me & said she was about 45 minutes away so I decided to sit in the car & wait, since my daughter was still sleeping in the backseat. When she finally showed up around 10:30 AM, it was getting pretty hot so my daughter was not a happy camper. Not enough sleep and heat does not make a baby happy. However, we managed to collect two 5-gallon buckets in about an hour. Actually, her little family did all the work while I played photographer. Hahaha The kids had a lot of fun picking their own fruits. My sister was kind of disappointed that we showed up so late since most of the bigger fruits have already been picked. We were still able to find some decent sized ones. I got a $20 box and she got a $25 box. I ended up keeping only 4 for myself and took the rest to my brother's house to let my other siblings pick what they want from it. My sister says next year we have to come back earlier on a Saturday so we can get first pick. Sounds like a plan!

And the entrance is a tiny little path just big enough for a car with a patch of dirt for parking. We checked in, inside the barn with a very nice person who is very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of lavender and the operations of the location. Our friends were getting married and they picked this location for the beautiful lavender fields which was not only visually gorgeous but smelled amazing and calmed the body and mind simply being in the vicinity. There were people taking photos for all sorts of things, from maternity photos to family portraits to visually appealing instagram photos, to getting married on the fields. Our friends who was getting married, was given beautifully handpicked lavender bouquets for the occasion and we were the last party to leave with no hassle for the occasion. They sold many different things in the barn and it was hard not to buy lavender flavored things and scented things to bring home but we have a cat so we couldn't, since lavender is toxic to them. I cannot stress enough how gorgeous this place is and how calming it was to just be there. Even if you don't have a special occasion, and need a place to be and take in the lavender fields, I recommend coming here and checking it out. Just remember it's by appointments only.

It was busy with lots of visitors from little kids to college students to grandparents. We went at Halloween time, so there was also a pumpkin patch. You pay at a cashier station at the front & receive a hand stamp. Children up to 12 years are $6, while 13 years+ are $4. However, for each paid child admission, an adult gets in for free. You then walk to the gate entrance of the barn area & listen to some instructions from staff about handling animals & not running, supervising younger children, etc. No food or drinks are allowed, so a lot of bottles were left in a hay bale area by the entry. We were able to get up close & personal with chicks, chickens, ducklings, ducks, geese, turkeys, goats, ponies, a calf, piglets, bunnies, a donkey, & kittens! Little one really enjoyed getting to groom the small goats with available brushes & combs. The goats just wandered the enclosed area. Most animals were in pens you could enter or reach into. There's some signage about the animals & protocols/warnings for how to interact with them, such as making sure to be sitting on hay bales while holding animals securely & closing gates. Staff went around to correct people who weren't following safety rules. You can spend as much time as you want seeing all the animals. At times we had to be patient waiting for a turn. Occasionally we saw the chicks being swapped out to get a rest from the petting. The animals were fairly docile & quiet. Apparently the animals are for sale. A hand washing station is off to the side of the barn.

Free flowers to pick?! :D…read more I first heard about this place through a social media post, and I was like "I need to go visit this spot and pick some flowers!" One Thursday last month, we got to do just that. My sister, Sesame (my friend's dog that we were doggie-sitting), and I took a little day trip to Woodland. It was super hot that day with the temperature at 98degrees! Ugh... I got out my wagon to put Sesame in there so that she doesn't have to walk on the hot ground. We each picked a bouquet of flowers, and they were pretty. They did start wilting immediately the next day. But nonetheless, I'm glad we got to experience this place. It would be better to go either earlier in the morning or later when it less hot though. Parking was easy as they have their own little parking area. Watch for their signs to enter in the right area as the neighbor has sighs too that shows that people have tried to go their space accidentally.
