Excitedly running to the strawberry fields
    Grace C.

Strawberry picking fun! I love doing "U Pick"/pick your own with kids. So cool for them to experience and see what their food looks like before it's transported to the grocery store or the dinner table. There is only a short walk (like 1-2 min depending how quickly you walk) from the parking & paying area to the strawberry picking fields. We went today. There is no shade in the picking area, so plan accordingly. Bring your own bag or bucket to carry your strawberries home, or you can pay $1 for a box to carry your berries home in. Tips: - if you have kids, bring your own mini buckets If you can. The owner had 2 mini buckets but if there are others using them, then you're outta luck. - bring your own bag or box to transport the berries home in, or pay $1 for boxes to take home

Family owed, very nice. Know your seasons for strawberries and blackberries. Sweet and ready to be picked with a day in the sunshine. You might see an emu or two.

Be sure to bring some good scissors to help pick the strawberries easier. Bring sunblock, hat, and bug spray. I got like 3 bug bites. $20 for each bucket and $3 for entrance fee per person. We had appointment for the past Saturday 9:30am. It's cash or Venmo only. It was not busy at all. Maybe like 3 other groups were picking. The strawberries were huge! I thought they were organic, but I guess they are not. They are really sweet though. Also bring containers to take your strawberries to-go. It's $1 for a to-go container for your strawberries. A lot of bending to pick strawberries. Dress accordingly. We went in the morning so it was breezy and a little chilly.

We almost didn't get accepted in because most of the strawberries are small. But they offered to give us our money back if we don't find enough. Thankfully, we found a whole bucket full. The bucket was $20 & $3 each person for entry. The strawberries are so sweet! Def will be coming back for more. They accept Venmo & cash only!

Hidden gem in Elk Grove! This strawberry farm allows you to pick your own strawberries, which is a great activity for families. If you don't want to pick, they also sell them by the bucket, half flat, and full flat. We arrived at 4:30 pm, and they usually stop admission at 4 pm, but the lady said she'd let us pick if we could come back by 5:10 pm. They charge $15 to pick for a maybe 1-2 gallon bucket (I don't know the exact size) and they charge $3 for admission per person. My brother and I went so it was $15 + $3 + $3, so $21 for whatever we could pick and fit in the bucket. Bring cash because they don't accept card. Also bring your own bags or boxes! We ended up picking about 10 lbs worth of strawberries! So once you get your bucket, you walk along the dirt path, and there's a natural right curve to walk on. You'll have to walk at least 400m to get to the field...I didn't really keep track...really just guessing lol. But once you see the ostriches on your right, look to your left and there's the strawberry field. There wasn't anyone watching us per se, but if there is, they'll tell you not to cross over the lines of strawberries and ask that you walk to the end of the row to get to the next. Anyway, there's a good mix of big and tiny strawberries, and all sizes in between. Be strategic about how you fill your bucket with a mix of all sizes! There's a good amount of parking on a Friday afternoon, but I can imagine weekends can get a bit busy. There also weren't a lot of people when we went, so we didn't really have to worry about social distancing. They have portapotties if you need. Make sure to wear sunblock and a hat, and bring some water! 30 minutes seemed like a long time but if you're planning to do some careful picking and take pictures you might need longer than 30 minutes. Might be a little pricey than what you might pay for at the grocery stores, but you're supporting local farmers/businesses!

Fees are reasonable, Sun is always great when I ask questions. Never crowded and the fields are great. What a nice experience my family have every time we visit. The strawberries are super sweet as well. Delicious. Great environment

Strawberry picking is one of my favorite outdoor activities!! June is prime strawberry month and my oh my, there are so many juicy strawberries that are ready to be picked and eaten! Sun's charges by person entrance fee $15 and for the bucket. I think it is a whole experience to go fruit picking and I recommend going early in the morning to avoid the heat!

$20 worth of sweet ripe berries!

Saw a post on Facebook that Sun's opened for the you-pick season so we checked it out right away! We went on a gloomy day but that was to our benefit - there was only one other party there who left early on so we had the entire farm to ourselves! It was a fun activity to do with the kids. I can imagine it gets pretty crowded when the weather is nice out. The lady said that they require reservations on weekends because it gets so busy, so I'd definitely recommend going on a weekday like we did! Each bucket is $20 and they charge $3 per adult and $2 for kids between ages 3-12. She said they prefer cash but do have Venmo if necessary. Even though $26 seemed steep for a 40-minute stay, I thought it was worth doing at least once a season because it's a different experience and it's actually pretty equivalent to what you buy in the store, maybe even better pricing plus you get to pick what you want! Not to mention you're supporting a local farm. The bucket is pretty big and of course you could stack it as high as you possibly could. She gave us a box once we were done and we walked out with a ton of fresh and ripe strawberries. So delicious!

Solid five star. Family run and humble. They charge reasonable fee. The other one that I called force to buy ticket online with one bucket per person. We can't eat five buckets of strawberries. So we came here instead . they don't force us to buy one bucket per person. We just buy entry fee and decide how many bucket we want. Highly recommending this place.

What a hidden gem! We had a great time bringing my little toddler here since she loves strawberries! Call ahead to see if theyre open for the day. Fees: $3 per adult, $15 per bucket if you want to pick your own strawberries. The berries were soo sweet and fresh! Need I say more? Not sure if theyre organic. My guess is theyre not but we just triple soak and washed with salt, vinegar and baking. We didnt see any bugs coming out but if there were then ehh..bonus protein, right? Will I be back? Mos def.

We love coming here for fresh strawberries!

Whenever we crave for strawberries this is the place we come to! My son loves to pick his own and I find it better to pick your own too. They're fresher and it's so fun to spend time at the farm with the little ones. I'm going to try to make this a summer long tradition.

    Kim D.

I got some great blackberries and strawberries this morning. You can pick blackberries but this field is done with Strawberries. They have another field they pick from. Nice folks! I'm from Louisville visiting friends and found jelly jars at a yard sale and made mixed berry jam this afternoon. A basket of berries is $3. Same price for pick your own

The berries looked beautiful -- fresh, bright, and exactly what you want when you're making something special and don't want to risk disappointing fruit. Produce quality really does make a difference, especially when it's the star of the dish. I also ended up finding a garlic olive oil I've been looking for, which felt like a bonus win. Nugget is great for those moments when you need something a little more specialty and don't want to drive all over town searching for it. The store was clean, well stocked, and easy to get in and out of, which I always appreciate when I'm just popping in for a few things during a busy day. It's one of those places where you can reliably find quality ingredients whether you're cooking something special or just grabbing everyday groceries. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.

The fresh baked bread here seems to be the best compared to other grocery stores in the area,…read morehowever it costs a lot more. The pugliese bread is my favorite as it is soft, fluffy, and taste delicious! The sourdough is also yummy and has a light airy consistency.  The sandwiches are made with the fresh baked bread and are delicious! Even though the store opens at 6am, the bread is not ready until 8-9am, therefore it is best to order a sandwich a couple hours after the store opens for the optimum selection of bread. I once made the mistake of ordering a sandwich at 7am and was only presented with two bread options: sliced bread or focaccia. I selected the focaccia and although the bread was tasty, it made for a very soft and ultimately soggy sandwich.  There is a large prepared/hot food section that is self-serve. On one occasion while I was selecting a soup to purchase I witnessed an employee wiping up the spilled food from the counter and putting it back into the large food tray. It was absolutely nauseating and I immediately questioned if I should even purchase the soup given the lack of proper food cleanup/handling.  The grocery items cost much more than other grocery stores for the same exact item. Nugget seems to carry a variety of high-quality ingredients and typical well-known brands. The cost of produce and meat is much higher than other grocery stores, although the meat is typically sourced from local farms.  During Thanksgiving Nugget carries a large selection of high quality turkeys. There are a few turkeys that are sourced from local farms that are advertised as natural, antibiotic free, and free range. When purchasing a Turkey for Thanksgiving it is always advised to call and preorder as the high quality turkeys sell out fast.

There was only one cashier open, besides the self check, so I waited in line for at least 15 minutes, because there was a customer that had an issue that took time to resolve. I was actually the last in line for most of that time, but when the line grew, and I was next, they eventually opened another line. Instead of inviting me over, others behind me scrambled into the new line, and approximately 3 customers behind me checked out before my transaction started. I would've been upset, but my cashier was Brian (according to my receipt), who I think might be one of the managers because he is so efficient, knowledgeable about everything Safeway, and extremely kind and understanding to the customers. He's the reason that I am satisfied with my visit today. After I checked out, I went to Customer Service for a raincheck and waited about 10 minutes, but the staff was behind the doors, and never turned to see if anyone needed service. So I walked over to self check to ask the cashier if I could get a raincheck on a sale item. He told me that I needed to go to customer service. I told him I see her through the glass, but she was occasionally having a conversation to her right and never noticed i was waiting, so he went to get her. After asking for the raincheck, explaining the shelf for the product was empty, she said there may be some in the back. The clerk came back and said they don't carry it, but Brian was walking by and mentioned they do. They checked while I waited again and they said they don't carry it. I mentioned I buy it at the other location when I'm in that area. She mentioned that I could go there, and declined the raincheck because it was the first day of the sale. When i explained I may not be able to go back before the sale is over, because I'm an oxygen patient, and 73, and it's difficult for me sometimes, she still declined to provide the raincheck, so I was very disappointed. Other than that, if it weren't for Brian, and his kindness and efficiency, I may have left saying, I'll never come back to this Safeway.
