4 stars Minus a star cuz I thought the price per person for U-pick was a lil much. For U-pick it's $25 a bucket plus a few dollars a head per picker. I believe you can pick both strawberries & blueberries here too. To see the size of the bucket, see my pic. It may look smallish but in retrospect, took a long time to eat those all, but took only about 30 minutes for 5 of us to fill up our fresh picked red treasures. After paying the entrance fee, you just walk like 2 minutes around the corner & pick your red, ripe, sweety, fruity gems. I suggest wearing sneakers that you don't mind getting muddy or dirty, shorts, and a hat. We went around 10am in June and we got hot, sweaty & our shoes muddy. It's a unique, healthy, different activity for kids, adults & anyone wanting to have that farm to fork experience first hand. An alternative to U-pick is you can just walk up to their make-shift fruit & veggie stand, & buy a small green container of strawberries. Green container of strawberry prices are 1 for $4, 2 for $8, 3 for $11, 3 for $14, etc (see pic). The lady strawberry picker has the best eye for sweet, ripe, amazingly tasting berries. No sugar needed! I've seen melons, local raw honey, onions, garlic, beets, cherries, peaches & tomatoes & other ground & tree grown goodies for sale here. I can't confirm nor deny if these are all locally grown on these grounds, but the guy at the stand said the tomatoes are. $4 a basket for those. They were super red and look super ripe & yummy too. Random fact: Once I came and the lady offered me free melons that were almost too ripe. Came home, cut them & ate them. So sweet! In the summer mornings around 10-11 it can get a lil busy with strawberries purveyors. Another random fact: The blue mansion in the back sometimes has yard sales at the same time the fruit stand is open. Double win for us bargain hunters. read more

Strawberry picking fun! I love doing "U Pick"/pick your own with kids. So cool for them to experience and see what their food looks like before it's transported to the grocery store or the dinner table. There is only a short walk (like 1-2 min depending how quickly you walk) from the parking & paying area to the strawberry picking fields. We went today. There is no shade in the picking area, so plan accordingly. Bring your own bag or bucket to carry your strawberries home, or you can pay $1 for a box to carry your berries home in. Went to Sun's Strawberries with my family to do some strawberry picking. It was a perfect breezy day to pick some fresh strawberries. Even though it wasn't too hot that day, with the sun beaming I was sweating so much. It was such a fun experience to do with my family. All the kids enjoyed the picking. There wasn't too many big strawberries. We got some standard size ones and they were pretty juicy. If you rather not do the picking yourself, they sell strawberries at the stand all packed abd ready to go. They also sell fresh honey which I couldn't leave without buying some. We did not have to reserve a spot. It wasn't too busy since the strawberry picking season just started. Be sure to bring some good scissors to help pick the strawberries easier. Bring sunblock, hat, and bug spray. I got like 3 bug bites. $20 for each bucket and $3 for entrance fee per person. We had appointment for the past Saturday 9:30am. It's cash or Venmo only. It was not busy at all. Maybe like 3 other groups were picking. The strawberries were huge! I thought they were organic, but I guess they are not. They are really sweet though. Also bring containers to take your strawberries to-go. It's $1 for a to-go container for your strawberries. Hidden gem in Elk Grove! This strawberry farm allows you to pick your own strawberries, which is a great activity for families. If you don't want to pick, they also sell them by the bucket, half flat, and full flat. We arrived at 4:30 pm, and they usually stop admission at 4 pm, but the lady said she'd let us pick if we could come back by 5:10 pm. They charge $15 to pick for a maybe 1-2 gallon bucket (I don't know the exact size) and they charge $3 for admission per person. My brother and I went so it was $15 + $3 + $3, so $21 for whatever we could pick and fit in the bucket. Bring cash because they don't accept card. Also bring your own bags or boxes! We ended up picking about 10 lbs worth of strawberries! So once you get your bucket, you walk along the dirt path, and there's a natural right curve to walk on. You'll have to walk at least 400m to get to the field...I didn't really keep track...really just guessing lol. But once you see the ostriches on your right, look to your left and there's the strawberry field. There wasn't anyone watching us per se, but if there is, they'll tell you not to cross over the lines of strawberries and ask that you walk to the end of the row to get to the next. Anyway, there's a good mix of big and tiny strawberries, and all sizes in between. Be strategic about how you fill your bucket with a mix of all sizes! There's a good amount of parking on a Friday afternoon, but I can imagine weekends can get a bit busy. There also weren't a lot of people when we went, so we didn't really have to worry about social distancing. They have portapotties if you need. Make sure to wear sunblock and a hat, and bring some water! 30 minutes seemed like a long time but if you're planning to do some careful picking and take pictures you might need longer than 30 minutes. Might be a little pricey than what you might pay for at the grocery stores, but you're supporting local farmers/businesses! read more

Saw a post on Facebook that Sun's opened for the you-pick season so we checked it out right away! We went on a gloomy day but that was to our benefit - there was only one other party there who left early on so we had the entire farm to ourselves! It was a fun activity to do with the kids. I can imagine it gets pretty crowded when the weather is nice out. The lady said that they require reservations on weekends because it gets so busy, so I'd definitely recommend going on a weekday like we did! Each bucket is $20 and they charge $3 per adult and $2 for kids between ages 3-12. She said they prefer cash but do have Venmo if necessary. Even though $26 seemed steep for a 40-minute stay, I thought it was worth doing at least once a season because it's a different experience and it's actually pretty equivalent to what you buy in the store, maybe even better pricing plus you get to pick what you want! Not to mention you're supporting a local farm. The bucket is pretty big and of course you could stack it as high as you possibly could. They moved the strawberry patch to side of property so you walk next to a super busy road. Prices also pretty high for non organic giant strawberries. I used to like the ambiance when it was set back behind the place. Now it's just not worth it for us. What a hidden gem! We had a great time bringing my little toddler here since she loves strawberries! Call ahead to see if theyre open for the day. Nice to know they also sells cherries and blueberry at the farm. Recommend putting in sunblock due to the heat. Bring a pair of a scissor to easily get the strawberries. This place is the only U-Pick Strawberry patch + fruit stand that is open in Elk Grove right now (COVID-19). My family and I came here around 2:30 PM and the owner warned us that the strawberry selection for U-Pick weren't as big anymore. My family and I still decided to pick strawberries and fill up our $15 bucket. We had a great time picking and take pictures, although it was very hot. The owner was also very nice and gracious and let us take our time picking. Strawberries were smaller but still tasted great; I think I'll make a smoothie out of them. read more

I love this fruit stand. They have yummy dark red juicy sweet strawberries. They sell other fruits and vegetables too. I have seen onions, corn (which was yummy), blueberries (yummy), cherries (extra yummy), watermelon, snap peas, eggplant, local honey, homemade jam and more. These items are not always in stock. It depebds on the season and what they grow. Everything is grown locally (a few feet from their fruit stand). They are local farmers. And you can even pick your own buckst of strawberries in their field. I haven't done it before. The fruit stand is pretty small. Going early is the best timd to go. There will be more fruits and veggies. Most of the time they have 2-4 different fruit or veggie options. I recommend going if you are nearby. The person that works there is usually friendly. He said they don't own the land. They rent it. Visit them when you are nearby. read more

For going in and picking our own strawberries? So a family of 5 would get charged an extra $15 just for going in.. doesn't make sense since you didn't charge the fee the other years.
