I was given tickets to the fair and decided to come. Parking across the street was $10. Then you walk in they do have metal detectors and check your bag. It's a medium size fair grounds. You get to ride in a train all around the grounds for free. Highly recommend the train so you can see everything that is there. There was plenty of bathrooms all over there even was a water fill station. There was a good amount of foods a little of everything. There was an area where you can see animals for free. There was a free dog show that was pretty cool. There was a ton of seating everywhere and open spaces. There was a good amount of rides. We really enjoyed it and definitely would return.

Don't forget to stop for funnel cake

The tractor pull is too loud for those who live nearby. Our house literally shakes its so loud. I have emailed multiple times without a response. I understand we live by the fairgrounds and there will be noise, but this is more then just noise. DO BETTER. That being said, we love the fair aside from the annoying tractor pull.

Very disappointed in the Mayfair this year used to be a go to since I was a little kid they are really trying to get their moneys worth this year charging the parents whose children are barely old enough to hold her head up or cries and entry fee it prevIously used to be if it was mandatory with a parent the parent could go as a chaperone for free with the children now they charge the parents the same amount as the children just to get money it's sad It was nice going to the fair and not having to deal with crowds or heat we came in late on opening night but it was supposed to be called thrifty Thursdays but they are nickel and dime you for everything you would think on opening day that they would have a Groupon for a wristband or if it's called thrifty Thursday that it would be cheaper the only thing that is cheaper is the entry fee and honestly it should be five dollars anyway when the Sacramento County fair is six and much bigger This will probably be the last time at the fair also there was a very high police presence with a very low amount of people and almost made you nervous that something was supposed to be happening because you're wondering why is there such a high presence for a family event like it's not safe

Came to Dixon May Fair today to celebrate Mother's Day early with my mom.. We mostly came for the tasty fair foods and this fair didn't disappoint! There was everything from Indian food, bbq, Chinese, fair classics, fried veggies, twinkies, Oreos etc. etc. There were so many food vendors and snack stands we couldn't decide what to have first.. the fair also had loads of games, rides, petting areas complete with goats, rabbits, bunnies, cows and pigs. There were live performances and entertainment. We had some fair staples like corn dogs, strawberry and cherry frozen lemonades, corn with mayo, butter, cheese and chili, grilled sausages with onions and bell peppers, cotton candy and a pickle. It was a great day.!

Impossible to be in a bad mood with a mariachi band playing.

We love the Dixon May Fair! It's held in the charming small town of Dixon, 20 miles from Sacramento. We went on a early sunday afternoon and parked free in the residential neighborhood. As we entered the Fair we were greeted by a mariachi band dressed in silver studded charo outfits with wide brimmed hats. It's impossible to be in a bad mood when a mariachi band is playing! The Dixon May Fair also featured the graceful Budweiser Clydesdale horses marching throughout the fair with their animated hitching gait. They were pulling the Budweiser cart with a well-trained Dalmation a top the cart. Which made me thirsty for the King of Beers. I think it was the little ditty playing, "When you say Bud, you've said a lot of things nobody else can say.....When you say BUDWEISER - you've said it all! The beers were 4 bucks and the live music was free. They had two great live bands playing while we were kicking back sipping the Bud and eating a corndog on a stick. One band was country, another was this coifed-dark haired kid banging the piano feverishly like a young Jerry Lee Lewis while his band played backup. Lots of folks dancin'. There was also a nice sized animal exhibit area. Sheep, pigs, goats, cows, roosters, rabbits, chickens all showing off their colors. Lots of blue ribbon winners and 4-H kids showing off their prized possesions. The Dixon May Fair also had all the unhealthy fair food you'd ever crave. The smell of BBQ is all around. Waffle cones, funnel cake, BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, tacos, corndogs, candy apples, cotton candy...the works. Lots of carnival rides and games too. The Dixon May Fair is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Dixon. I'm now geared up for the California State Fair.

Redneck demolition derby, cow tipping, and cattle rustling...why not? There's a first time for everything. Imagine driving a rusty old clunker into a gravel bullpen and then crashing into other cars so hard that their parts explode or fly off into the air. Imagine 8 to 12 specially prepared cars entering a bullpen measuring around 50 by 100. They close off the entrance, and for the next 20 minutes the drivers will smash into each other until only one is left running....Sounds fun? I thought so and I've never been so some friends and I decide to join the heap at the Dixon May Fair. The stench of cattle and cow dung permeates throughout the place. Imagine eating a giant bbq'ed turkey leg while that stench is in the air. It wasn't that bad to be honest, I washed it down with some cold beer and just had to cowboy it up. Arts and crafts were interesting, I even got me a nice lil' raffia straw hat. Overall, not a fan of fairs, cause I'm just a good ol' city slicker that can rough it out in the country once in a while.

Pin A Go Go the first weekend after Mothers day every year!

$11 to get in, $40 for rides wristband, $10+ for anything to eat. You're looking at $75 a person for couple rides and fair food for 2026.

Which is why I had already gone to 4 other beer festivals this year before checking out the Davis Bike and Brew Fest with a fellow beer nerd friend. Being a brewfest veteran, there were quite a few things I noticed that the organizers of this brewfest got right. 1st of all, there was value. Ticket prices were reasonable for 4 1/2 hours of open beer tasting with a good selection of beer vendors to choose from. Additionally, lines for beer were short enough that it was possible to get beer faster than you could drink it. Outside fluids were not allowed in, but there was plenty of free, ice cold water for everyone. Davis' Central Park was a great place to hold the event. As good as it all was, there were a couple snags. There weren't enough porta-potties & the line to take a leak got to be pretty long at times. For food, some food truck/ food stand options were available but it would've been nice to have a couple more. 2013 was the 1st year for this event & hopefully not the last. Beer is big in Davis with UCD having 1 of the very few brewing schools in the entire World. For a town like this, the Davis Bike and Brew Fest is a natural fit.

Brew festivals are becoming an odd beast. First, you have major brew fests like California Beer…read moreFestival that charge a lot to get in, the crowds are equally large, and most of us never get our money's worth. Then there are small, local festivals that are cheaper but the selection of breweries and vendors is poor. Davis Bike and Brew Fest fits into neither of these categories or perhaps it is best said that it's a combination of both. The ticket price in presale is reasonable $25 and, since it takes place in early August as the highlight of the Davis Beer Week, the school is not in session and the crowds in 3 years that we attended have never been huge. The downside is, of course, the infamous Valley heat that doesn't spare anyone. Like previous two editions, this year was in triple digits again and damn, it was HOT. But the organizers did things right to make the best under the circumstances: - There was plenty of water - The time was 5PM-8PM. A lot of brew fests I've been to start early which is a bad idea - Enough port-a-potties. Might use a couple more but the wait wasn't too bad, if there was one. - There was a lot of seating and several food trucks and tents - The pours were appropriately sized for the heat and most of the breweries brought their lower alcohol beers, more suitable for the heat. - The crowds were civilized, I didn't see more than just few people wasted As for the selection of beers, Sacramento area was the best represented as expected. But surprisingly, plenty of San Diego was in the house as well. Unlimited pours of Alpine Hoppy Birthday (even if it's Green Flash brewed)? Hell yea! If there was an award for hidden gem, it goes to Boneshaker Brewery from Rocklin for their Blood Red Sky. At only 2.5% ABV and nice tartness, this blood orange Berliner Weisse style beer was delightful and a total surprise. And their brewer is a super-nice guy who took the time to answer all our questions with patience. Finally, if Chris White from White Labs is in attendance, this gives legitimacy to any brew festival. And Davis Bike and Brew fest was just the right balance between small and community and more commercial. There was something for everyone and at moments you could totally forget about the heat. Needless to say, we will be back. Even if the weather is the same again....

Our friends were getting married and they picked this location for the beautiful lavender fields which was not only visually gorgeous but smelled amazing and calmed the body and mind simply being in the vicinity. There were people taking photos for all sorts of things, from maternity photos to family portraits to visually appealing instagram photos, to getting married on the fields. Our friends who was getting married, was given beautifully handpicked lavender bouquets for the occasion and we were the last party to leave with no hassle for the occasion. They sold many different things in the barn and it was hard not to buy lavender flavored things and scented things to bring home but we have a cat so we couldn't, since lavender is toxic to them.
