So far, Autosport Werks has given me confidence in their team, but time will be the true test. I brought my 2016 VW Tiguan in for an oil leak which turned out to be many oil leaks and and a couple of knock-on issues. The repair job was very expensive, but my comparison shopping told me their price wasn't terribly far off from what I could expect elsewhere. In the few weeks since that work was done my windshield washer pump has gone out, which does make me a touch suspicious, but given how old the car is I guess I can't be too shocked about random parts giving up the ghost. Their team has been very nice and patient with me and my many questions. They've been transparent, breaking down the quote for me when asked and making sure I understood what they'd found and what they were proposing to do to fix it. The piece that gave me the most assurance was that they offer a four year warranty on their repairs, which I can't imagine any shop would do if they were fly-by-night. So far, so good.

That felt vague, so I repeated it back to confirm--"So it's $240 for a little less than an hour?"--and suddenly his tone shifted. He got defensive and snapped, "I didn't say that, I don't know what you're trying to get at here." Instead of clarifying like any decent service advisor would, he made the conversation more tense than it needed to be. Eventually he confirmed, again, that it was $240 just to look at the vehicle--but the whole exchange left me confused and frustrated. What really stood out was the lack of professionalism. On the first call, he even started talking to another customer in person before our call had finished, like he couldn't be bothered to fully engage with my questions. I get that shops are busy, but that doesn't excuse poor communication or short-tempered responses. I had considered bringing my vehicle in, but after two calls with the same advisor and that kind of attitude, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. After 10 min it became clear they needed to get into the doghouse I have a conversion van so this meant moving a lot of stuff around. I also have a musculoskeletal disability, and it took me about 20 min to move the vast majority of the stuff which needed to be moved, which was a lot for me, I'm still in pain from it, but I did it because that's what needed to be done, but then I always need help with the 70 lb RV refrigerator. 2 min to do for an able bodied guy. mechanic agreed to do it Then they came back and said they couldn't get to the diagnostic stuff that day. And that if I came back: 1) They'd charge me $100 extra for moving the 70 lb RV fridge in and out. 2) They'd charge me twice as much as they had quoted for 1 hr diagnostic. When asked why the front desk drone blathered something about extra time getting in and out of the doghouse. which takes 5 min. I've taken this van to 6-7 mechanics over the years. When the doghouse has needed to be accessed, this has always been the process. It's never been a problem before. I go out of my way, even injuring myself, to do what I can. And then they help with the RV fridge, which only takes a minute. The Americans with Disabilities Act explicitly states that "reasonable accommodations must be made for individuals with disabilities" To charge them more than twice as much is to punish them for having a disability. The fact that most people with disabilities are socio-economically impacted makes this doubly unethical. Whatever good qualities this shop has, Discrimination agains people with disabilities makes the difference and earns them a 1 star review.

After picking up the vehicle and paying under $4000 and the warranty company also paid their portion under $900. The truck drove worse and continued to leak. My husband contacted Troy and we were to bring the truck back and he would have it repaired. I have several emails with conversations to support this issue. The warranty company contacted Troy and requested more information and photos, a week later he provided it to them. After receiving the information from Troy, photos etc, the warranty company decided to send out their own inspectors to check this vehicle and found huge inconsistencies. I will add that the timeline from Troy was off by a week. I have the proof for that as well. I picked up the truck. It did not drive well at all. I'm lucky I got it home which I live very close. I sent several emails requesting a refund as well as my meeting with Troy so that I could get it repaired elsewhere. I never received a response until a phone call from the general manager Austin. He was extremely angry and the conversation didn't go well I felt very intimidated. I attempted to get help through other resources and had other mechanics and lawyers view the statements and they did find that the statements were ridiculous for labor, etc. I finally had enough and called Austin and told him I don't want to fight anymore and if you feel that this company did the right thing then they live with that, no legal action as I wanted to which would allow them to speak with Tom Martino but they declined, they had the opportunity to share their side. I most recently received a voicemail from Austin and returned his call, he told me they would be happy to see me in small claims court, granted this is after I told him I'm finished fighting with him. I emailed and requested their attorneys information and have not received it as of today. He had the nerve to ask if I had the truck repaired, I found that very sarcastic. It doesn't matter that my husband is in the Middle East deployed through next year or that there is a government shut down or that I'm not a mechanic. I was trying to get them to do the right thing and they did not. I am not looking for pity. I am looking for justice and I did not get it. I do not recommend Lake Arbor Automotive to anyone. I'm sure people may have had better experiences with this company however I did not. Be cautious with this company.
