If TEN STARS were an option, Family Auto Center would earn every one of them…read more I initially brought my vehicle to Family Auto Center in Vacaville for a specialized installation that only certified mechanics can perform. Although it's a 45-minute drive from my home, it quickly became clear that the distance was irrelevant -- the quality of service was worth far more than the convenience of proximity. From the first interaction, the professionalism, transparency, and efficiency of Sean, Nicole, and their team stood out. The installation was completed flawlessly, pricing was fair and clearly explained, and my vehicle was serviced promptly without compromising attention to detail. What began as a one-time visit has turned into a long-term relationship. Family Auto Center is now the only place I will take my 2024 Ford Explorer -- whether for routine maintenance or more complex repairs. My husband's experience further confirmed what I already believed. He owns a 2007 Nissan Titan that he's deeply attached to and has been carefully researching where to invest in significant restoration work. He is not someone who makes quick decisions -- he studies reviews, checks BBB ratings, gathers multiple estimates, and asks thorough questions. Yet after meeting Sean, observing how the team interacted with customers, and hearing the clarity and depth with which repairs were explained, he didn't need any of that. As we left, he simply said, "That's the guy I want fixing my truck." That statement speaks volumes. What impressed us most wasn't just technical expertise -- it was integrity. In an industry where customers can sometimes feel uninformed or vulnerable, particularly women with limited mechanical knowledge, Sean and his team operate with refreshing honesty. There is no upselling, no inflated urgency, no vague explanations -- only straightforward communication and well-documented recommendations. I've had experiences with dealerships and quick oil-change chains that left me questioning both pricing and necessity of suggested repairs. At Family Auto Center, I feel informed, respected, and confident in every decision made regarding my vehicle. The name "Family Auto Center" is fitting. Not only is it family-owned and operated, but the culture reflects accountability, cooperation, and shared standards of excellence. You don't feel like a transaction -- you feel valued. It's rare to encounter a business that combines deep mechanical knowledge -- from vintage vehicles to today's complex computer-driven models -- with genuine warmth and ethical consistency. Even conversations with other customers in the waiting area reflect the same theme: long-term loyalty built on trust. I rarely take the time to write reviews. But when a business consistently demonstrates integrity, competence, and respect, it deserves recognition. Thank you, Sean and Nicole, for running your business with authenticity and expertise. You've earned not only our trust, but our continued loyalty.

I decided to get a second opinion and brought my car to Vacaville Autopro. Vishan and his team did an excellent job diagnosing the real issue and fixed only what was necessary. They saved me thousands of dollars. It's hard to find a trustworthy shop these days, but this is definitely one of them. Highly recommended!

Andrew and his team are standup, wonderful professionals…read more In late July, I had my 2024 F-150 tires replaced. when I picked up my truck, I was running late for an appointment and noticed that they looked different. Plus, I was going on vacation the following day. I noticed that the ride was different. The sound was different and I expressed concern to Andrew that I felt wrong tires were put on my truck. He did confirm that after researching it was a human error in ordering the replacement tires. Through many text messages and communications, he insisted that I bring the truck back to make it right. I didn't want the business to take a loss and I was content in living with the tires, but he continued to press the fact that he wanted to make it right. And, yesterday, August 3 he did make it right. He picked up my truck from my place of work and returned it shortly thereafter with a set of brand new replacement tires. I would recommend their business for anyone that needs an alignment or new tires. They are professional with high levels of integrity. Mike A

The check engine light came on but my regular Dixon mechanic was closed for 2 days. I had been to…read moreDixon Tire Pros a number of times over the years so I went there - and found there is a new owner. I was told $220 to diagnose the problem. The emailed estimate I received included many additional items besides the bad coil. All were absurdly over priced based on internet search of costs (e.g. spark plug cost was far more than the most expensive plug I could find). I paid the diagnosis fee and waited for my regular mechanic who replaced the bad coil for about half what Tire Pros wanted. All the other items they identified were things that needed to be done but none were urgent and all were WAY over priced. I can't provide specific dollar costs because when I went back to the email estimate the next day, the prices were gone. After 35 years in Dixon I have been to a lot of local mechanics. I would go to Vacaville before using these guys again.

We have used Dave for multiple vehicles with different issues. I brought in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that had a ton of issues. He told me that he could fix it, but it would not be cost-effective for me when the repairs cost more than the car itself since it's an older car. He also let me know that after the repair was done, another part could fail shortly after due to the condition of the car. He was extremely honest and you could tell right away he knew what he was doing. He said he would gladly do the work if I wanted but said if I was in a position to look for a new car, I should do that. We ended up buying a new vehicle and when that vehicle needed new brakes, we brought it in. He quoted me a price and when I came to pick up the car, my invoice was significantly less than what he had originally quoted. I can honestly say I've never had somebody charge less than the quote. He said it took less labor than what was listed and it was an easy job. I then brought a vehicle in for a leak and he told me how my husband could fix the leak at home and then I could come back and he would fix it if we couldn't do it ourselves. I really appreciated that he could have immediately charged me to do the fix rather than told me that but instead he tried to help us out. We ended up not being able to fix it ourselves and went back to him. His quote was very fair, and for the exact same repair the dealership had quoted me FIVE times the amount that Dave did it for. I can't stress enough to go here for anything minor or major. In this world honesty and fairness seem to be hard to find, but not at Independent. Also, he is the only person in the shop, so if he doesn't answer leave a message or stop by!
