It was crunchy and well sauced but perhaps a bit sweet for my tastes. But still delicious. The hot and sour soup was actually sour, which is rare these days. I got an extra liter of it to go it was so good. And the steamed rice was obviously freshly cooked. Evidently this family came here from the West Coast, and Nebraska is definitely the better for it. I think dad is the main cook, and his sons are young men who are fast and friendly and funny, you can hear them talking and laughing, the atmosphere is wonderful. I'm from New York, and these guys could succeed in New York City Chinatown, no exaggeration. Don't miss it.

It starts with me being the only non-local in the place, not knowing the ordering setup (counter to go/look for an open seat if dine in). Once they got me straightened out... I got the General Chicken... it was flavorful and super crunchy. The won ton soup was just right and the egg roll was crispy. Watching the owners interact with the people was a thing of beauty. It is rare to see someone work with such joy and enthusiasm, but it's obvious that he cares for his customers and town. I apologize for ordering sweet tea, I forgot I was north of I-40. The only drawback from the whole meal was a spoon so shallow I ended up trying both sides just to be sure. If you were trying to slow me down so I could savor the soup, you underestimate the lack of shame I'll have turning the bowl up.

Stating water is the source of life and genuinely kept every water glass filled in the summer heat. Lovely server! I had the lemongrass pork, which had some of the freshest lemongrass and juicy pork I've ever had in a Thai dish. Flavor in every bite, with bell pepper and cucumber. A refreshing and satisfying blend in each bite. As a pineapple fan myself, I was very pleased by the fresh slice on nearly every plate. The next outstanding dish was the Thai puffs. Thick flakey pastry, evenly filled with veggies and moist chicken. Served with a home made sweet and sour sauce, which was a bit runnier in texture but so much fresher in flavor! Love to see a freshly made sauce. They have curtains across the front glass, which threw me off but they have an open sign. Come on in during their lunch or dinner hours. Heck, I think that Joe's may even have a drive through? I haven't tried that yet. I ordered the Generals Tso's chicken with fried rice and got an eggroll too. The chicken was tender and had a good level of spice for me. The eggroll was hot and tasted good as well. The fried rice wasn't the best, (it was pretty bland) but a little soy sauce pepped it up enough. I took my meal to go and would do it again the next time I am in Hastings. One thing that stood out like a sore thumb to me was the interaction between me and the folks that run this place, they are not overly friendly, helpful or talkative. Straight and to the point.
