A gem hidden in a small midwestern strip mall. We were looking for something more fresh and different than the usual road trip fare and this fit the bill. We enjoyed the beef, Vietnamese grilled pork, and crispy pork belly banh mi sandwiches plus a brown sugar tea w/ tapioca pearls boba. The meats were well balanced in their seasoning. The kimchi vegetables were very good but too lightly pickled, barely discernible. However, the flavors worked well together and made for a delightful lunch. The tea was comparable to other very good boba teas we have had. The young woman at the counter was very helpful and pleasant. Despite being busy; she was welcoming and we didn't feel rushed. Tried two different boba milk teas (oolong and coconut) I loved the oolong, the coconut was a little artificial for my taste but my friend loved it! Both of the sandwiches we got were DELICIOUS! This place is a hidden treasure! The service, the food, the drinks, you can't go wrong with anything you pick! Everything is so fresh and delicious, makes you feel like you're in grandm's kitchen! Oh.my.goodness!! This is an amazing find! The Bahn Mi with Chicken is amazing! The textures mixed with flavors of the chicken, carrots, cilantro, and Daikin..on that amazing bread.... perfection for my taste buds!! The Milk Tea and Vietnamese Coffee are amazing! These would be good in a place with a large Vietnamese community to choose from different stores, but for rural Nebraska, they are off the charts! They serve Udon bowls on the weekends. Let me tell you. When you've been staring at middle america's flatscape for the past 6 hours, anything EXPRESS calls to you. This however is not... waited 5 before our order was taken, then another 15 until getting 1/2 drinks and finding out that they needed to make fresh boba (the milk tea itself is pre-made so don't be thinking u can adjust sweetness or anything). Highly recommend making a trip to Fresh Express! Their menu has a variety of options whether you're looking for a drink or quick bite. I try to stop in whenever I'm traveling through and the service never falls short, they're always fast and friendly. The decor is great and they offer inside seating to relax while enjoying your order. Food was very and very yummy. I got a chicken banh mi and a Vietnamese coffee, both were excellent. The owner was there and she was super friendly and I really enjoyed talking to her. I'm from out of state, working in Lexington, NE and staying in Kearney. The food is good for vietnamese standards and the service is fine. However, I feel they mainly care about the drinks because of the niche market here in Kearney. The problem I have is that they are always out of certain foods. The cold cut banh mi is a staple stock of a vietnamese resturant that sells Bánh Mì. The two times I've been, they've been out of that and Com chiên (fried rice). I'm disappointed because it's the only Vietnamese resturant here in Kearney, Ne or anywhere within an hour. read more

I was walking by on a warm, sunny day, and I figured I would give this place a shot. I wasn't carrying any cash, so I asked the cashier if they accepted Google or Apple pay, and they said yes. They had some pretty orthodox flavors to choose from, but I decided to give their slushes a shot since I was craving a more fruity and juicier drink. I got the bigger size, which totaled to maybe $5 or so, and it came out within six minutes. The other customers were impressed by how my drink looked (although they did make a side comment about something too expensive). As I was walking out, I took a sip of my drink, and it was a delicious mix of the watermelon (and other fruits) it had on the description. Not only that, but the boba was absolutely tender, and I was completely surprised finding a place like this so far away from a bigger metropolitan city. I'd recommend checking this place out if you're passing through Kearney and are looking to get something refreshing to drink (I don't know how the locals feel, though, since consistency seems to be an issue)! read more

Went here a couple of times while in town. The smoothie the first time was fabulous...banana and strawberry with almond milk. Had a great consistency and flavor. Second time....there was zero taste....needed more berries with it. Looks like this is a fairly new establishment....going to have to bulk up on offerings to get enough business. Unless you want your smoothie made just as it is listed on the menu, I wouldn't suggest stopping here. The first time I visited I had a delicious smoothie it was exactly what I wanted and it tasted amazing. I couldn't wait to come back and have another. I've been dreaming about that smoothie for days! So when I walked in I was quite disappointed when I was told that they couldn't make my smoothie the way I had it before. Apparently when you do "build your own smoothie" you can only choose two fruits, not three like I had the last time I visited. I asked if she could charge me more for my third fruit and she told me that they aren't even allowed to make a smoothie with three fruits. What the heck?! A smoothie shop that doesn't allow a person to put three fruits in their smoothie?! I'm sorry. That is crazy and makes no sense. Normally I would give a place another shot after a disappointment (ex: if my smoothie didn't taste like the first time I had it because employees measurements can vary) but if I'm not even allowed to order it as I first had it, I don't even have an interest in trying again. I like smoothies because of the mix of fruity flavors, not just two. Such a shame. From what I hard the first time, it was the best smoothie in town. Generally when you specialize in making something, you should be sure you (and your employees) can do it right. read more
