Sorry to say but this sibling of Buccan's, is my least favorite. I can't wrap my head around this. I freaking love Buccan. What just happened to the sister though? Did she go rogue after gaining a certain level of notoriety in the palm beach area as "THE BEST sushi" ? Or was she overrated to begin with ? I have no clue. AAAAANNNYWAYYYSSS, let's see. We ordered the most basic of sushi. California roll and eel avocado roll. I get it. I should've ordered something out-of -this-world complicated and elegant, if I was going to a fancy restaurant like this one. In my defense though, we didn't feel like being adventurous that night and it's a small menu, if you can't nail at least one out of 4 items on a small menu then what are you, seriously ? (no offense to teeny tiny menus, I actually prefer them) California roll - 2/5 (To anyone, even your neighborhood sushi buffet would've done equal or better, I appreciate the crab over the Krab though ) Eel and avocado roll - 2/5 same sitch as above said roll Kimchi fried rice appetizer - 1/5. Sorry but what the covfefe was that ? And why are you serving this at a high-end restaurant that shares walls with buccan's exquisiteness ? Just why ? Just because the word "kimchi" is going to make wannabe foodies go nuts over the dish ? No, just no. I don't need to be paying $10 for this. Rock Shrimp tempura appetizer- 3/5. Still, the aioli it was served with, the batter on the shrimp itself, neither was original nor refreshing. $18. Meh, I gave it a 3/5 because I had to somehow justify spending more than a hundred dollars on this disaster of a meal. Drinks: the BF had the Buccan tea, which he was happy with. I got 2 glasses of their Sauvignon blanc, the second glass was mainly to drown in my sorrows of a meal slowly going downhill. Each one of the drinks was about $14-15. Pricey, considering the wine wasn't that exquisite. Taking a point off for that, I give it a 2/5 Ambience- we sat at the sushi bar. The place and lighting was cozy and classy, and the crowd was ranging all ages. 3/5 Service - 'twas alright. I was treated like a princess next door (no prizes for guessing that it was Buccan) so anything less is, perhaps, just alright. 3/5 (note to all hospitality service members: we still tipped her well, we're not savages, alright?) Oh did I mention that this was my birthday dinner ? Oh well, now you know. Taking a point off for just the overall disappointment, I give it a grand 1/5. Once again, writing this review hurts me more than it now hurts your head for having read it. read more

Some menu items were really outstanding and others so-so. Dishes saving this review were the oysters and toro. Additionally, for a small restaurant, one would expect way better service. Buccan suffers from the same poor service issue. Customer attention seems hyper focused on locals only and not those visiting the island. Shocked Imoto (and Buccan) were recommended by the Four Seasons given the lack of attention given to "out of towners". Will definitely be giving them the heads up given the attention to detail the hotel has provided. read more

Average sushi (to be kind) at above average prices. Don't know if this place used to be better but it the food quality is uneven at best. Oysters were subpar, a big disappointment. but tuna foie gras slider was fantastic. As was the hamachi crudo, with the ponzu sauce unique and very tasty. It was downhill from there. Sear yellowtail? Poor. 2 rolls -- rainbow and Daimyo were fair to poor. The seaweed wrap on the Daimyo was oddly tough, with a texture that doesn't belong in any decent sushi place. Rainbow was nothing special. PB County not known for great sushi places and this doesn't change that. read more

Came here Tuesday night for a final PB dinner while on vacation. I was looking forward to some killer sushi, since all the fish I ate in PB was pretty wonderful. However, the best things we ate were non-sushi menu items - and the sushi was less than stellar. Loved the duck tacos and the tempura shrimp (although when did deep frying something, without panko, become equivalent to "tempura"?). The hamachi sashimi was also very good. The sushi selection we ordered - all pieces from the "Special Nigiri" section of the menu - was disappointing. The salmon was chewy, the yellowtail was sorta blah, and the scallops were the biggest letdown of all. They were almost a little stinky. I'm surprised that they would serve scallops of that quality at a place like this. We ordered the mushrooms too, which were prepared nicely but just way too salty. Best thing on the menu was the chocolate peanut butter mousse! To die for :) The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and super polite. The table next to us was obnoxiously loud and included a white guy with corn rows, but hey, that's not the restaurant's fault. Overall, the ambiance is lovely. But given the price of the food and the fact that this is first and foremost a sushi joint, the sushi should just be better - and it's not hard to find good fish in PB! read more

This was my one of my all time favorite restaurants until recently. The management used to say hello and acknowledge you now they walk by and ignore you. The nigiri sushi is very mediocre and small. You can't even seat at the bar anymore since the bartenders are reserving it for their preferred customers. Since when do you reserve a seat at a bar? It should be first come first served. And last but not least they let people bring in their dogs and I am not talking about service dogs. I have seen people sit at the bar with their dog. In this day and age of Covid every sanitary precaution should be taken and it is against health code to bring in a dog unless it's a service animal. I really hope Imoto changes back to the great place it once was. read more

I have wanted to try Imoto for some time after eating at it's sister restaurant Buccan. I was not disappointed. Imoto is a much smaller place from front to back so I am sure it fills up fast. The quality of sushi is excellent. Great service and excellent menu make it a must visit when in Palm Beach. Warning the restaurant is hard to spot from the street. While the front door is right next to the Buccan entrance there is little to no signage. Again don't miss it. read more

We went with another couple who were raving about their sushi and it did not disappoint. The decor was beautiful and my wife even felt comfortable to wear one of her now growing Palm Beach big hats there. The sushi was presented with the most gorgeous display of a true master artisan who prepared it. Every piece was super fresh and truly delicious. The place was packed. It's very popular, its a place to be seen. It draws the attention of celebrities in the area, I sat next to Jimmy Buffet. As a sashimi and nigiri lover I was very excited for this dinner. While the quality of the fish was good, it was not as good to some restaurants in LA where I live like Sugar Fish. The orange they bring you between dinner and desert is a good palette cleanser. Kimchee fried rice- the sauce makes the rice jump Peking duck tacos-ORDER, they're great. Quack all the way to your palette Tuna Tartare "Yukke"-this was tuna tartare served with a quail egg. The tuna to quail ratio was far off. Disappointing Fluke Sashimi- loved the truffle ponzu sauce. We drove a while to get here from our hotel because the reviews were totally hyped up. We wanted to check it out for ourselves. The place had street parking and it's located in a circle/plaza shared by other small establishments. I think this was connected to Buccan because their receipt stated Buccan but their menu was Imoto. It was kind of confusing. Split personality? Anyways, their food was okay. Nothing great about it. Their menu lacked variety, only a very few choices. They were trying to have a fusion of some sort, but I've been to a lot of better Sushi joints in California compared to this place. Was taken here on a post valentines day date. The food was absolutely fantastic. We started with the lobster sashimi. The lobster was so fresh and sweet. I was very surprised buy the quality. The edemame was crunchy and flavorful, duck tacos were so yummy. They were my dates favorite thing on the menu. Next we had the rock shrimp, which were like little chunks of heaven! The spicy mayo and soy Sauce were great compliments! Last but certainly not least were the seared tuna and fois gras sliders. These were the MOST PHENOMENAL THINGS I HAVE PUT IN MY MOUTH IN A LONG TIME! The bun was slightly grilled with butter which paired with the buttery fois gras & tuna. honestly that was one of the best things I've ever eaten! We will for sure be back!! read more

I went in to this restaurant with really high expectations and perhaps set myself up for failure. Part of the problem was that as I was making the reservation for Imoto, I was looking at the posted menu which was actually for their sister restaurant Buccan (which is excellent!). I went in expecting squid ink orchiette and found myself lost. Overall I thought the dishes were good, but overpriced and a tad pretentious. Not much wowed me and that made me a bit sad. One dish I do have to mention is the tuna foie gras slider, which was delicious and the highlight of the evening. Also, for this being a Japanese/sushi restaurant, I thought they had a limited number of sushi rolls to choose from and those that made it on the menu lacked originality. read more

I initially gave this restaurant 3 stars, because it's pretty expensive, and I didn't care for the sushi rolls. That being said, we have gone back several times for a few dishes that we love. The Tuna Foie Gras sliders is one of my favorite dishes in Palm Beach. I also love the Duck Tacos. There is also a tuna sashimi is also delicious. When you first walk in the door you are overcome with an energy. Enter Asia. After we sat down immediately we ordered off the happy hour menu - yellowfin sashimi, tuna sashimi, spicy tuna roll, California roll. All were perfectly handcrafted, delicately presented and the best sushi I've ever had. For the main course I recommend the duck tacos which are a blend of savory, smokey and sweet with a crunch. They were counterbalanced with the tuna slider. This is a must order. For the beverage I recommend the Yuzu Collins. Don't forget when happy hour is over you are charged full price for the drinks. read more

My fiance and I went to Imoto for date night. We are major sushi lovers so I was so excited to eat at Imoto. We had heard nothing but good things; and we were told we had to try to foie gras tuna slider. I have to say the the foie gras slider was a must to try, as it is really different. However, if I didn't think it was anything special. The atmosphere at Imoto was nice, but I can get tasty sushi at a better price elsewhere. I enjoyed my experience at Imoto, they did have good martinis, but I won't go out of my way to go back. If I were to eat sushi on Palm Beach, I would choose Echo. read more

My husband and I recently ate here when we were visiting Palm Beach. We were in the mood for sushi and Imoto came highly recommended. The space itself is pretty small so it's good to make a reservation. The lighting is intimate and it affords a nice, relaxing atmosphere. For being a sushi place, the roll selection was somewhat limited and the sushi, while good, was not our favorite dishes. We had the cucumber rolls, California roll, and the spicy salmon roll. My husband also had the seared tuna nigiri and the salmon nigiri. The sushi and nigiri were solid--very fresh, beautifully presented, and tasty. The absolute standout of the night was the cauliflower roasted with mint yogurt sauce, cashews, and raisins. The cauliflower was slightly caramelized which created a great smokey flavor. The yogurt added a great creamy element and the raisins offered a sweet note. I would come back just for that dish. SO GOOD! Another surprise was the grilled edamame with sweet soy sauce and scallions. The grilling brought out such a good flavor along with the soy sauce--it was literally finger-licking good. Ate at Buccan twice in 2 nights on a 1 week trip to Palm Beach for business - but was so impressed that we felt obligated to head to Imoto to see how he did with sushi. The food and service were great; nit-picky-wise the room could have used a little more of Buccan's style - lighting was too dark to see some of the beautiful plates. Food stand-outs were the Duck Tacos, the Tuna Foie Sliders, Seared Salmon Sashimi - and the fish buyer did a great job with every piece of sashimi we sampled (probably 5 types - Hamachi and toro were the stand-outs). Service was great - good timing, attentive conversation, solicitous from the waitress and the sushi chefs (we sat at the bar). Definitely worth a visit. read more

This restores one's faith in French food. What did I order, to go with a glorious Burgundy, in Palm Beach's best restaurant? Raw green pea soup and roast chicken. A farmhouse meal, but made perfect, lyrical, by the finest ingredients and perfect technique. Roast chicken in the mind of God. Green peas dancing at their wedding. My wife had poached halibut. Same perfection. There is no more to say. It would be like piling Kiwi fruit on the chicken. But, polished (for Palm Beach) and very pleasing service. A glorious wine list. Imoto has great food and great people working there. I usually have a great time. However, this time my friend and I left after only 5 minutes because of how rude we were treated. We felt unwelcome, rushed, and really just confused at the short, dismissive treatment. It would have been funny if it didn't ruin our appetite. I am at a loss for the words for this place because I don't even know that my words could do this place justice! Phenomenal is an understatement! A friend of mine recommended this place and suggest we make reservations with a waitress named Grace. Her knowledge of the menu, (although limited due to "COVID") was astounding and she made excellent recommendations. We ordered eight different items on the menu and not one was even the slightest bit disappointing. I have traveled all over the world and THIS place is by far number ONE in all of the places I have eaten. We ate each of the following: Florida snapper ceviche-fresh, tangy and savory Steak tartare- the best you will EVER have Tuna Tataki-bursting with fresh flavor like no other Hamachi Sashimi-the perfect textures of fresh ingredients Short Rib Empanadas-melt in your mouth Oysters-From MA, smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of brine Rainbow Roll-Absolute perfection in every way possible Watermelon martini-The most refreshing drink imaginable! (I drank several!) AND THE COOKIES!!! Ugh!!!! Best dessert EVER!!! Grace made many of these suggestions, and Yvonne worked so well helping to prebus tables! I genuinely love seeing teamwork in settings like these! This was the best date night experience I ever could have imagined and I am beyond thankful for the recommendation. We have been to Buccan several times in the past and this restaurant is attached and shares bathrooms and the valet. The restaurant is small and does not have much seating. This reservations should be made well in advance unless you want to eat at the bar or the sushi bar. When we arrived we were told our table was not ready so we decided to get a drink at the bar. 30 minutes later our table was still not ready so we decided to order appetizers and within 5 minutes the hostess Chelsea came up to let us know they were picking up our appetizers. 15-20 min later we had still not been seat but were advised that the table was just "hanging out". The hostess told us they wanted to buy our party a round of drinks. This was totally not necessary but certainly appreciated. Once were seated our server Trevor was nothing less than exceptional. The food is excellent! We had endamame and hamachi for appetizers and both were excellent. The endamame had incredible flavor and the sauce was unique in them. The hamachi was so delicious we wanted to order another. We also tried the pork tacos which were excellent and several sushi rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious! We even ordered off of Buccan's menu and had the pork empanadas and the squid ink pasta. This restaurant is a a hidden gem and the service is top notch!
