We were going to go to Brick Oven Pizza this past weekend and we actually did go in, sit down, and…read moreget menus. While looking over the menus, the expected sorts of foods were on there-pizza of course, pasta, burgers, salads, etc. The menu wasn't interesting but it was getting late and we were hungry so we picked out some things we wanted to order. HOWEVER... We did not get to see what the food was like, because it was at this point that I wanted to wash my hands, as I always do after touching menus (especially these ones because they were a little sus, mine had something on it that looked sticky but I sure wasn't about to touch it to find out) and was going to go to the restroom. I was shocked and disgusted to find that there were two restrooms. No, not a women's and men's, but rather, two restrooms intended to be shared by men and women. Now, since there were two restrooms already, why was there not one for women and one for men? I do not share restrooms with strange men for many reasons but the biggest one is the possiblity of cameras being put in the restroom-a risk which increases with men being allowed into women's restrooms. Was this to pander to trans identified males? We left and went over to Coltons, where not only was the food great as usual, but they also know what a woman is, and have enough respect for their women patrons to provide our own restroom for the privacy and peace of mind it affords.

Casey's - Yes, that is BLOOD on the wall in the bathroom at Casey's.

As you will see from the pictures I posted, the restroom was in very poor condition. The cleanliness was terrible. 1st there was fecal matter smeared on the toilet paper that was left out because it was not put back in the dispenser. 2nd upon closer look there was blood, yes blood on the wall and lastly there were no paper towels to dry your hands after you wash them. Poplar Bluff has 2 Casey's General Stores and I visit both sporadically, during work, and they have always been poor when it comes to being clean. So to give a heads up to anyone traveling through Poplar Bluff or currently living in the area as you may already be aware Casey's is not Clean place to stop in and use the restroom if you have an opportunity to go somewhere else, do that as these conditions are completely unacceptable. *,*Now adding something to this review some of you may say that maybe it was after a rush maybe they just didn't have time to get to it. Allow me to say that I stop in randomly throughout the week at both locations and they are both always unsanitary and unkept. However this was the most recent one where it was as bad as it was, and I will not be returning.***

You can enter from the hotel and/or from the parking lot which is great for people like us who are not guests of the hotel. The tables and booths are a bit worn but are functional and clean. It was nice to see the place decorated for Halloween! We stopped in early on a Monday evening. No problem getting a table and the pleasant hostess seated us right away. Lisa stopped by to take our drink orders and gave us time to decide. She was great and checked in with us regularly during the meal. The hostess brought us hot breadsticks with real butter! We started with the Seared Tuna Carpaccio. It was cooked perfectly (rare) and was complemented nicely by the two sauces (red chili & yum sauce) as well as by the fresh shredded spinach. Great size for sharing! Salads came out next with house made dressings and fresh toppings. Lisa kept politely checking in with us without hovering. For dinner, hubby ordered the ribeye "rare plus" with a side of the sautéed spinach. The steak was 12-14oz and "cooked perfectly" - he ate every bite - and said the spinach was also excellent! My dinner, the Honey Dijon Salmon, had a nice glaze that flowed onto the rice and went well with the side of steamed broccoli with butter. The salmon was hot, fresh, and cooked thoroughly without being overdone. Lisa mentioned they do make some of the desserts in house (crème brule and the brownie - there might be others but my brain stopped after I heard brownie) so we decided on the Flaming Brownie. Lisa was busy with a few other tables but manager Jake stopped by, cleared our plates, chatted, and took our dessert order. Lisa came by with the brownie with 2 spoons, placed it on the table and used a mini-torch to light up the marshmallow! It was lovely and delicious - perfect size for sharing! With the relaxed, family environment, solid teamwork, and delicious meals, we would definitely dine here again when in the area!
