Dr. Toth and his wife (the office manager) always ask about my parents and my grandma and share funny stories about times my family members were at the dentist. I have been petrified by any type of dental procedure since I was little--and have had to have a fair amount of dental work including fillings, caps, broken tooth repair... Dr. Toth is extremely gentle and caring, never rushes you, scares you, makes you feel guilty or leaves you unsure of what is going on. Dr. Toth also knows that my worst fear is getting the Novocaine shot...UGH! Just this past month I had to have a small chip filled to prevent it from becoming a cavity. Dr. Toth remembered how much I hate the shot as said we could try it without the shot to start and then if it became too painful he would give me the shot. Thanks to how gentle and skilled Dr. Toth is...no shot! Best of all, my appointment was at 9:45 and I was out the door by 10:10! I would recommend Dr. Toth and everyone in his office to anyone. He is truly an amazing dentist.

Dr. Fazio at Aspen Dental would not accept our Humana insurance even though when I looked it up on…read morethe Humana Website, he was the first person listed as dentists we could use on our plan. We have an unusual plan because it is for retired military, but it should have been accepted. They don't bother to tell you until you have to pay the bill at the end of the session. My family and I are through with them. I hope others find this information useful and don't have to pay $250 for their kid's cleaning. Update: After calling Humana, we found out that Dr. Fazio is covered under our plan and we are filing a claim directly with Humana. This proves that the insurance people at Aspen aren't doing their job properly.

Then I met their hygienist Sierra. Judgmental, pushy, and condescending, and the dentist who acted the exact same way towards me. There's a difference between teaching your patients and talking down to them, and I was close to tears multiple times sitting in that chair being scolded like a child. They told me I needed a root canal, and quoted me for a scaling and planing procedure. When I asked what the procedure was they stated "a deeper cleaning than normal," and then failed to be forthcoming with any other details. What they failed to tell me was that it involved possible local anesthesia, and that my mouth would be sore for days after, and possibly make getting a root canal a worse experience than it already would be. Then when they gave me the price, I called other dentists in the area to see if it was comparable. It wasn't. They were charging me almost $800 more than everyone else in the area (and included things in there that were not discussed like a specialty tooth brush and flosser.) They also gave me a paper saying I had signed for a "quote," but had charged me for the procedure that day. Luckily when I called and cancelled and told them my concerns they said they would refund it to my card, but now to need to call my insurance to make sure they weren't billed for a procedure that isn't going to be done by them. If you're looking for non-judgmental help, I would NEVER recommend this practice.

Prior to the appointment, I completed all the history forms online. As a result of good dental hygiene, I have had minimal dental work over my lifetime. To determine my baseline, bite xrays, 3D images, and gum pocket measurements were performed before the cleaning. Wasn't a fan of the gum pocket measurement. After the cleaning, fluoride protection was painted on my teeth. Although their address is McKnight Road, it really isn't. The parking lot is IMMEDIATELY past Northway Shoes. I wouldn't suggest attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot - high traffic area. Come from Babcock and make a right turn into the lot. Leaving, you'll make a right turn and be at the McIntyre Square (Giant Eagle)/McKnight intersection. Elevator available to reach their 2nd floor office.

The woman in the billing office told me that I am maxed out. OK, so why did no one tell me? She said that was on me. HMMMM..... so why the big "let's see what insurance is going to cover" charade? She told me that when I "choose" my coverage at the beginning of the year, I should've know. I will never return there and she was completely fine with that. She said"goodbye" GOOD BYE. Lost 30lbs from not wanting to eat. I ended up getting my portion of a refund for the crown he botched, so he was off the hook for responsibility and replacement of a new crown.
