What an amazing experience! I live nearby and was looking for a last-minute haircut since I'm leaving out of town tomorrow. I called at 4:10 p.m. to ask if they could fit me in for a haircut, and they were so kind to accept me. Not only that, but they offered me the full service even though they were about to close. Everyone was incredibly kind, and I truly appreciated the experience. I'll definitely be coming back every time I need a haircut. Thank you all so much! read more

I moved to this area 7 years ago and soon identified Image Salon as a great place for me. Jeannie understands how to control my dense and textured hair and always gives me a cut that is flattering and easy to care for. She listens to my requests but explains clearly if I'm asking for something that won't suit me. Kevin and Jeannie have a loyal customer base for a good reason - they genuinely care about everyone who walks through the door. read more

After 7 years, I haven't even thought about doing my hair anywhere else. Jeannie and Kevin are a prized couple and they work well together. Jeannie knows exactly what I want and I frequently go through changes like long or short but I really like her accidently showing me bangs and I haven't worn bangs in years and the look was adorable. It makes me look younger even though the strands of gray are starting to come out. lol. The hair is simply cut well each and every time so that it is easy for me to manage, whether I want curls and she has made my thin fine super straight hair look nice without a lot of care to put into it to give it volume. I love these guys! You will, too. read more

Very overpriced, especially for seniors. Not upfront about pricing when it exceeds their posted pricing list. Should explain any up charge before performing service. Otherwise, friendly service and a nice job on my mother in laws hair. read more

This is a great place for a quick, basic haircut - which is all I ever want. Kevin and Jeannie are super friendly and easy going. Even though I don't get my hair cut as often as I should, Jeannie never criticizes or makes me feel bad about it, which I appreciate! Cash, Venmo, QuickPay only - no credit cards. read more

I literally ended up at this place following the reviews on Yelp. It's been quiet a while I had a hair cut and my hair totally out grew the style I had earlier. I am bad a making appointments before hand. I found this place had some good reviews and i drove almost 10 miles to check it out. On a first look, this is nice little salon (I believe family owned). It's clean and looks well maintained. I called them prior asking if they walk ins and they said they can fit me in. I walked in, while they were finishing up on some other customers. I didn't have to wait much. Jeannie was the one who was attending me. I told her what I am looking for. She assured me she'l do the best she can and she did. I wasn't looking for a great styling but just a trim and some shape to blend all my hair in. Jeannie was very nice, she listens to the needs of the customer and She is concerned too. Unlike many other stylists she gets into the conversation which will make you feel comfortable. The only start less on this is for the price, which according to me is little bit on a higher end. I ended up paying around $40 for a normal haircut(no shampoo, no blow dry). If it weren't for the price I would definitely go back. read more

Jeannie is so sweet and she does a great job. Good place for people with curly or wavy hair since they do dry cuts. I used to go here before I moved and still go here for haircuts when I come back to visit family. read more

Thank you so much for my lovely updo! I got so many compliments at the event I attended. My stylist gave me a 'do even more elaborate than I could have imagined! I only trust Kevin with my haircuts in Chicago. I cannot speak highly enough of him.

I work right off Dempster and needed a haircut in a bad way. I moved to Skokie in June and needed to find a new stylist. My friends wouldn't recommend a place. I jumped on Yelp and found Image Salon. I called to make an appointment and got in same day. When I walked in, Jeannie asked what product I was using. She told me why I shouldn't use that product and what products to use for different looks. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and told her I just want something easy and quick. She washed, cut and dried my hair in about 10 minutes. She handed me a product to use and told me to play around with my hair. She told me how to use the product properly, why she cut my hair a certain way in places and how to style my hair to cover up some flat spots on my head. I will definitely return and I would recommend this place to everyone. I was in and out in about 25 to 30 minutes. read more

Kevin and Jeannie were welcoming and very nice. The salon was very clean and utilized Covid precautions. Jeannie did my haircut and color expertly done. I recommend Images Salon to anyone. I went to a wedding that and my hair looked great. read more

I came here near closing time on a week night, but was still able to be taken as a walk-in. There were several people ahead of me, but I didn't mind the wait - they had plently of magazines for me to look through. Kevin and Jeannie own the shop and have been at this location for about 8 years. Jeannie gave be a great cut for a great price. She gave plently of tips and advice for my type of hair: thin and wavy for my round face. I appreciate it. She didn't try to sell me her own products, but gave advice of which types of products would be good for my hair. Most of the products she recommended for me weren't sold at the shop. They both do a great job. read more

I don't live in the area anymore but I aim to get my hair cut here every time I'm in town. I've had such positive experiences here and Jeannie does really great work (and is so kind and thoughtful, too!) During my most recent visit, it was clear that she and Kevin are taking all COVID precautions and keeping the salon's customers safe. I really can't recommend them more highly if you're in the area! read more

Image Salon owners Kevin and Jeannie give great haircuts, are incredibly friendly, and are always working hard to make each person's experience is a great one. I've been going there for years, but wanted to write this review to let everyone know what they're doing during the COVID-19 pandemic: everything. When you arrive for your appointed time, someone will meet you in the parking lot to take your temperature and then will come get you from your car when they're ready. They disinfect the chairs and the stations, and ask you to keep your mask on during the hair cut. When they need to cut around your ears, they'll ask you to hold your mask over your nose and mouth, too. They are following all the guidelines and more. I left feeling like I had taken no risks at all and felt grateful that I had found such a wonderful team. They need everyone to come get a haircut! Go today! read more

Super nice people. Very pleased by how patient and talented Jeannie is. Definitely going back for mens haircuts.

I used a local hairdresser for 25 years. Then one day I called her for an appointment and she had moved to Texas. It has not been easy to find a new hairdresser! Now I've located Jeannie at Image Salon, and we like her and her work so much. I take my special needs daughter to her as well. The salon is lovely, with lots of things to divert attention (e.g., a fish tank!); it's impeccably clean, and they are respectful of client preferences and human frailties. All in all, a great experience with kind and competent people! Who could ask for more? read more

This salon is a small, family owned business that is very client focused. There were a few other customers there when I was getting highlights, and they were repeat customers, and you can sense the personalized treatment each person gets. Jeannie did a great job with my highlights and was able to lift my color from my natural dark brown to blonde. She was friendly and professional as well. The salon has plenty of parking in the front, wifi and a park in the back (for kids who accompany their parent to the salon), and a grocery across the street. Overall, the salon is in a great location, clean and did a wonderful job with my hair. read more

My husband was the first one to discover that Jeannie and Kevin are good hair stylist. My husband recommended them toe and from then on, I didn't go to any other salon. They are really a blessing. I always get compliments with my haircut, color and highlights. I have been with them for 17 years and became friends too. read more

Image Salon rocks. I mean, ROCKS. Everyone I know and their mom and dad (literally) go there. Why? Because Kevin and Jeannie cut hair like Tom Skilling does the weather. You know it's awesome. You know there are other options, but you won't settle for anything less because you've experienced AWESOME. Kevin is hilarious. Kevin looks you in the eyes. Kevin knows how to cut hair. Jeannie is super nice. Jeannie offers you water - WHILE she's cutting someone else's hair. Jeannie knows how to cut hair. If you're in Skokie, there's no better option. Trust me. No better option. read more

I used to go to Hair Cuttery or one of those chain stores in Skokie and there I met Kevin, who was the most in-demand barber in the place. For me, I didn't really care that much, I just wanted in and out quick. Kevin and his wife Jeannie opened their own place down the street, on Dempster near Crawford. I won't go anywhere else. Now I have Jeannie cut my hair because she's just as good as he is. Why do I think this is the best place to go? 1. They are very good at what they do. They could easily be in the fancy expensive salon business, but they work with the people and offer a range of services. 2. They are really nice people. They communicate with you and they care about their customers. 3. They care about their community. Kevin has volunteered in the Jewish community to cut hair and they live in the area where their salon is located. 4. They aren't the chain store. Why should money flow up to some anonymous corp instead of staying in our community? Highly recommend. read more

I made an appointment for highlights and lowlights. I was able to get in the next day. Upon arrival I was greeted, offered water and was made sure I was comfortable. I was taken right at my appointment time. (How annoying is that when you rush to get to your appointment on time only to find out that the stylist is running 30 minutes or more late?) The whole process took an hour and a half and I was very pleased with the results. Kevin and Jeannie are very personable and aim to please. Their shop is clean and bright. I would definitely recommend them and I will be back! read more

Image Salon - Jeannie did great highlights. Blended well and worked with my natural color (the dark blonde). - Hair Salons Near Me - Skokie, Illinois

I had been jumping around from place to place since I moved from DC. As an Asian American, there are only a couple individuals in Chicago that I could think of who could give better than a half-way decent fade. The only problem is, if I know that the person is good at giving a good fade, so does every other Asian man who is looking for the same thing. FML. So, when a buddy of mine put me on to a guy who runs his shop in Skokie and does a great job with Asian hair, I felt it necessary to make the trip out from my apartment downtown to give him a try. In short, he didn't disappoint. He and his wife have done a fantastic job with keeping their heads down and putting out quality haircuts for all of their patrons. They are always extremely friendly and try their best to schedule anyone that wants a haircut, but didn't make an appointment. As for my hair, I wouldn't trust anyone else in Chicago with it at this point. Kevin and Jeannie are simply fantastic. read more

This place is fantastic. Jeannie has cut my hair 3 times and each visit has been great. Super friendly and personable. Her and her counterpart know all of their clients. I've probabaly been a little too adventurous when it comes to haircuts, meaning I've had my hair cut by many a place that suck at cutting hair. I'm done with that, this is the place. Thank you! read more

I had been seeing Jeannie to get my hair cut for years and was excited when I heard she was opening a salon with her husband Kevin. Since their grand opening, I've stopped by about every two weeks for my regular haircut. My hair isn't complicated, but I have recommended Jeannie to a few female friends. They've only had positive comments and continue to see her. That includes my outspoken sister who makes a trip from the west loop whenever she feels like changing her hair style or color. That's right, sis! I just called you outspoken! Don't be fooled by their web site (it's still under construction). The salon is clean with contemporary decor and has a TV that's usually tuned to the game of the day or Spongebob Squarepants for the kiddies. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. It's a rare sight to see someone walk out without a smile on their face. You can't get much friendlier or more accommodating than than this! read more

For a cheap, basic haircut, this place does the job. I paid only $25 with tip for a woman's haircut!! And as a girl with puffy and thick Asian hair, I'm really wary about going to the generic hair salons in fear of them giving me an even bigger fro. However, Jeannie did a pretty decent job of cutting my hair short without it looking too puffy. I also dread making awkward small talk with hairstylist but Jeannie made me feel comfortable. Both Kevin and Jeannie seem to be pretty sweet. I watched Kevin cut a little boy's hair (it looked like it was his first time, as he looked petrified). But Kevin made it quick and painless and I liked that he checked in with the kid frequently to see if he was doing okay. No tears from the kid, so I'm giving props to Kevin. Overall, they deliver fantastic customer service and offer great prices. The quality of the haircut is not bad given the price. I'll be returning for my next haircut. read more

Beautiful precision cut by Jeannie! She showed me how to style my hair, from blow-dry techniques that build body to proper use of the products that control my particular issues (particularly fine, flyaway, flat hair). She also spent time going over my almost-finished style and trimmed every single strand that she thought needed a little snip (I have a head full of fine, stick-straight hair and cowlicks galore). True precision cut! I usually don't get lucky and find the right salon on the first try when I relocate to a new region, but I will trust my hair to Jeannie as long as I live in the Chicago area. You should give them a try! read more

Kevin and Jeannie LISTEN and are skilled at what they do. They give advice and tell you what they are capable of but will give your hair's ownership back to you. I moved out to Saint Charles and tried to find someone closer but, despite paying almost double, finally gave up after a receiving mediocre cuts. I make the 1+ hour trip to Skokie, as does my 22-year old daughter, to leave with a hair cut that I will be happy with for a few months. FYI, I have naturally curly hair and my daughter has slightly wavy hair and we are both happy with either Kevin or Jeannie. read more

Finally came back for a trim. My hair is thick and when it grows long I start to get headaches. Jeannie was able to see me the day I called. Told Jeannie to do whatever she felt like as long as she kept it long and thinned out the heavy hair. She hadn't seen me in a while but quickly cut my hair into a low maintenance, lightweight style that matched my needs. Didn't have to request it to be low maintenance, either. She's amazing! read more

First time here today and my first time going to a salon since covid started- I have to say their covid protocols are great. They're super clean and it made me feel safer being there watching how they sanitize after every client. I got a haircut that I needed desperately, was worried they'd cut my hair super short like everyone else has in the past but they cut exactly what I asked for. Will definitely come back. read more

By recommendation of my brother, I started seeing Jeanie when I moved closer to the shop almost 5 years ago. I've never been one for intimidating, snooty salons, so Jeanie was right up my alley. Her salon is warm and welcoming. It's like "Cheers" where everybody knows my name. But let's get to the root of the matter - the hair. I'm the type who rarely gets a trim. I'm a creature of change when it comes to my hair and like to try new styles. I've had long hair, short hair, purple hair, bleached hair. And Jeanie does it all so well. That's what's kept me coming back, despite the fact that I've moved into the West Loop. For me, it's kind of a trek to get there but totally worth the effort. read more

Note: This seems to have been written by my mother. I don't think she has ever used yelp before and clearly didn't realize I was signed in. Yes, she is referring to my kinky, out of control hair. I have been going to Kevin for my haircuts for many years. He has a great eye, is very careful, is always, always pleasant and never makes you feel like he is rushed. He has also cut my son's hair since he was so young that he had to be coaxed into it, hold my hand throughout, etc; Kevin was infinitely patient and understanding and my son, now 17, still won't go anywhere else. He is good with all kinds of hair. Recently my grown daughter, who has curly, kinky, out of control hair, had the first hair cut she has ever liked by Kevin. She never had a hairstyle before that; she just pulled it back and tied it up. She looks adorable! Kevin could be working in an expensive salon charging 4 times what he charges! read more

Hands down the most wonderful family guaranteed to make you leave feeling "Glamorous" Kevin's cut my hair since I was in high school when he worked for Super Cuts which was 25 years ago. Crazy thing is him and Jennie look the same even now after all these years. On top of that, they work a ridiculous amount of hours every week and still make sure you leave feeling on top of the world. Kevin played a huge role in my " young and invisible days" lol but thats because his passion to guarantee you get what you paid for is worth double the effort that him and his family puts into your individual requests read more

Got my haircut with the owner. She is very skilled and listens to your needs. She did a great job on my hair. I keep my hair very long so it's hard to tell when I get a haircut. But with her I was able to get a lot of style in my hair without making them short. Not many stylist are able to do that for me. They usually can't help the temptation of chopping my hair off. Also, she shampoos the hair very well. I know, it's weird to look for nice shampoo but I do anyway. Usually, I also have a problem with how most stylist shampoo my hair because I would have to go home and shampoo them my self. My stylist at image salon understood that very well. There are two reasons I didn't leave five stars. One, she could have done a little better on my blow dry but it's possible I went in too late and she probably was ready to home, but she was nice enough to pick her straightener and fix the parts that looked frizzy after blow drying. Second, she was bit too expressive about how she doesn't like a certain type of customers and how she doesn't like offering deals to customers. read more

Who are the people in the pic? I don't know if they're the owners or the man and woman who were working there w. their kids sweeping up are the owners. I needed a touch up of color on my roots which the woman and I discussed in detail before. However, she took it upon herself so redo my entire head. I had to ask her to wipe the color off my head so it wouldnt stain. She said it would be fine but that she'd do it. (after she finished sweeping the floor) After I got a shampoo but no conditioner (never had that before) I got 1/2 a dry job, no round brush work w/ it and left with damp hair. They were very nice people tho and the color itself turned out well. Its worth the inexpensive price in comparison to other salons for color. read more
