I'm from NYC originally. I was driving up rt 7. Stopped at a light. To my left was this gorgeous building..big bright windows encased in lights. Such beautiful swim suits and all kinds of goodies in a window. Even though I was pressed for time, I had to make a U turn and go in. So glad I did!! The second I walked in, I felt the poshness of the place. Not snooty. Classy. I was greeted by this stunning woman who exuded warmth, beauty and grace. Carline Dean. The creator and owner of now one of my top five places to visit! She gave me a full tour. Everywhere I looked, I was so pleasantly pleased by all of the beautiful things. From the boutique downstairs to the grand salon upstairs, I was impressed. I ended up canceling my appt I had up north so I could spend time there. I got lost in all of the tasteful and absolutely gorgeous things! first off, I was properly fitted in a bra by Janice who was so kind and knowledgeable on bras. From the bras I went to bathing suits to incredible cover ups to jewelry and more! I didn't want to leave. I will be back to one of new favorite places soon!! :))) read more

First of all let me say that I don't often write reviews, but there are those absolutely special occasions when credit is due! Now, you know what "pamper" means only when you experience it, and "pamper" is what happens at this salon... Actually, it should be called a "hair spa", because both the hair and the "hair-owner" get out of there rejuvenated! Carline is a perfectionist, and won't let go of your skull until the last of your rebellious hair has been tamed and found its own place, without mentioning the fact that this woman knows exactly what you want, or even what you SHOULD want to look your best! I got the most amazing haircut, and the Carline's "magic treatment" made my hair so soft that I still can't stop passing my fingers through it to feel the silky texture! Well, I couldn't have started this year in a better way... And let me add that the whole experience (to include drying my hair on a couch, hugging a pillow and sipping coffee...) is truly like a day at the SPA, a little pampering vacation for you and your hair! I made the ultimate decision to embrace my true color (white) and stop coloring it it's 20-something color -- brunette. At 59 this is a big deal, but I wanted to be authentic and own my hair color. Carline has been instrumental in getting me there. She is a master. It took time and patience, so I made sure to bring some reading, but as Carline says, if you're going for speed, you'll fry your hair. My hair isn't fried. It looks and feels great. It has dimension and a multiplicity of colors. I truly think its a work of art. I have a lot of friends who are getting their grey roots dyed every 4-6 weeks. They're tired of it and want to know how they can change their hair color without cutting it all off and seeing what comes in. Carline did it and she did a great job. I have had compliments from other hair stylists who said, the stylist who did this knew what they were doing. This is not something that gets taught at stylist school. Awesome! It all started on a rainy Saturday night. I had let my friend put highlights in my hair a few days earlier... bad idea....my once blonde hair was orange, striped and possibly failing out. I was one step away from permanently wearing a paper bag. To make matters worse, I was going on vacation with a bunch of my friends the next day. I walked into Illumination in desperation and Carline swooped in and took one look at my hair (did a very good job at hiding her 'Oh CR*AP!!" face) took pity on me and went to work. It was a looooooong grueling process (on Carline's end. I on the other hand was relaxed in a comfy chair with visions of palm trees and margaritas dancing in my head) but finally swirled my chair around and we had a 'ta-da!!' moment. I was fixed! My hair was now blonde, natural and sun kissed looking, and thanks to a crazy hair treatment- soft and healthy. She is truly a miracle worker. I have been going to Illuminations since it opened in July of 2015. Carline Dean, the owner is phenomenal hair stylist whose skills are on par with the best in NYC. I got tired of taking the trek into the city and I haven't been disappointed. Carline has a great eye and has taken both my hair style and my hair color to a new level. Carline is perfectionist as a colorist and has consistently colored it with a glossy, lovely finish. I have given her carte blanche on all things related to my hair. Carline's associate Patrick is charming and a highly experienced stylist. On the first floor below Illuminations Hair Salon is Carline's other venture, Lace Affaire. It is a fanciful store full of lovely sleepwear and beautiful shapewear. Carline and her associate Tracy are experienced bra fitters and they carry a wide variety of reasonably priced undergarments. For close to a year, I have been getting my hair done at Illumination Salon. My hair now looks and feels amazingly healthy. Carline and I patiently decided to heal over processed face framing highlights.I attribute this to Carline's product know-how - she only uses the best products (Goldwell, Oribe, and more) and is dedicated to staying current on new hair products as they enter the market. The second way that Illumination is different than other salons in the area, is that Carline genuinely cares. She listens to what is important to me, and together we decide on the style and color/highlights that will look best - and what will make me happy. I literally walk in as I needed a my hair to be done ASAP and was looking for a new place as my old salon did damage my hair, so for being a random selection I have to say it was a fantastic experience. Melissa, not only has the right knowledge but also has an amazing personality and great customer service. I cant be happier with her service and I know for sure this is just the beginning of long lasting relationship, my hair looks fantastic and i will continue to use Melissa. I have been back several times (for hair cut, color, blow dry, all perfect!) and all of my family has been using her services too. Hi, I went to illumination salon for the first time, and all I can say it was the best salon I have ever been to. The owner was amazing!!! And she did my Hair beautifully, it was the best highlights I have loved, and that's a first for me in years. I recommend her salon to all who want to experience, excellent, and feeling at home, as well as a beautiful hair color, and blowout. I absolutely love this hair salon!! I have gotten the best hair cut and color of my entire life there. I got a balayage color and have received so many compliments I can't believe it. The owner, Carlene, has done such a wonderful job with my hair that I refuse to go anywhere else! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming too that it makes getting my hair cut something I actually look forward to. I loved my personally tailored experience at this upscale salon in Wilton. I was hesitant about having Balayage done on my blonde hair. Melissa is incredible! Whenever I go in she is professional and kind. She always tells me the ingredients that are in products before they go in my hair. I love that she consults me on how much to cut off before she starts trimming. She did beautiful layers on my naturally curly hair. It's really hard to find a place that has such good service in both cuts and colors. I'm definitely a Melissa regular, she's fantastic! I went last week for a cut. The salon was empty, which was nice but a bit creepy. Big space and no one there. Haircut took an hour from start to finish. It was ok, but some of the layers were hard to deal with two days later. It cost $120 and a $20 tip. For $140 I think I will go to the city next time. read more
