Vintage Marketplace whisks shoppers off on an adventure as they walk through the doors. Filled with…read morefashionable garments and trinkets with a vintage flare, I felt like I was browsing through rooms of European merchandise. Each area is categorized by color: blues to the right, browns and whites straight ahead, violets in the back of the store. Open doorways weave in and out of the dividing wall, allowing customers to float freely from continent to continent... er... section to section. Beautiful, plush scarves caught my eye, as well as some of the old writing table decorations. One room in the back was filled with an assortment of accessories, like jewelry, hair barrettes, and hats. Incredibly well organized, this shop is like strolling through a fashion museum. Prices were a little higher than expected, and although there were two salesladies in the store, neither of them acknowledged that I was there. That bumped Vintage Marketplace down to three stars. I'd still stop back for a browse though. The window display changes frequently (and, in my opinion, is the most elaborate in Hyde Park), so something new will likely draw me in again.

Several years have passed and I have not changed my mind about this little shop at all. Jodie is amazing lady who really works hard keeping her shop easy to move throughout and the selection of items are fantastic. The place is neat and clean as well as all the items she displays for sale. Prices are unbeatable. Definitely a shop worth checking in regularly as her rotation and turnover of merchandise changes regularly. And you never know just what you might find as she keeps a great selection of all kinds of eclectic , vinyl , jewelry, glassware you name it, it will eventually pass through her place.

I was part of a group of 12 gals and we had a lot of fun doing this. This is not a thrift shop it is a consignment shop. I do a lot of thrift shopping so I don't spend a lot for clothing. Some of this clothing was definitely out of my price range. I did try to stick to the sale racks though where everything was 50% or 75% off. I found a few things that I liked and brought home. We were provided a boxed lunch as part of our bus tour and it was provided to us at this stop and there was also wine on this stop if we wanted that. The lunch was Jersey Mike's and was pretty good. This location was mostly clothing there were very few home decor items here.

I stopped by Downtown Girl just as Ute (pronounced oo-tah, she's German) and her husband Tom were closing up. I told them my story and they insisted I come in for some shopping. With a flip of the switch, the lights were on and music was playing. Downtown Girl carries all sorts of accessories for the feminine urbanite: from Fleur-de-Lis necklaces to soft, furry scarves, bright handbags, and intricate jewelery. If you're looking for a statement fashion piece, you will find it here. Everything sold in Downtown Girl is hand-selected by Ute. You'll definitely be getting a one-of-a-kind accessory and for a very reasonable price. I purchased several glass nailfiles as gifts for my best girlfriends. Ute provided wrapping for each individual item, complete with bright violet tissue paper, a filigree gift bag, and a sticker with her shop's logo. All my gifting needs were cared for under one roof. Downtown Girl has been in Montgomery for the past seven years. Recently, Ute expanded to the building next door, creating a sister shop: Uptown Girl, which carries clothing and posh accessories. http://www.yelp.com/biz/utes-uptown-girl-cincinnati Both Ute and Tom were the most friendly, genuine store owners. They even walked me to my car after locking up the store (again) to make sure I was safe. Now that's compassionate service!

This is exactly the place where you will find those effortless and chic looks. I'd head back in here before sweater season officially arrives to find some truly unique items.

They did have some nice home decor items but that is not something I am on the lookout for.
