We are so early but has been a long day. Roberto waited on us in three languages. So much fun! I had boar tagliatelle and tomato sauce. Delicious. The sangria was a little sweet. We had tortellini pesto. Lovely. Ravioli an a cream sauce, heaven. The price was reasonable. The food was excellent. The restaurant was lovely. You can see the kitchen and the pizza oven. As you can see, we devoured half before I remembered that I review for YELP. I don't drink, but my husband said that Super Bock was a good beer (to him, beers are always "ok"). We ate outside on the large patio, but there is indoor seating and another separate room that also has an ice cream or gelato parlor. Wait staff were very kind and helpful. Lovely restaurant with excellent service. We sat outside because although it was overcast there was no rain, so it was nice to sit outside but inside was beautiful too and you can see them cooking the pizza and making the pastas and dough and such. Our service was very quick and the waiter was wonderful. We had the bruschetta pomodoro, olives, red sangria pitcher, sparkling water, orecchiette al pesto, ensalada rucola, tiramisu and cafe con leite. Everything was incredible and the price was very reasonable. Altogether we spent 57 euros (about $61) and I'm sure at most places near home in Texas that would've been easily $100, since we had appetizers, wine, salad and an entree, dessert and coffee. Highly recommend stopping here to eat if you're touring this area! read more

We were looking for a place for lunch and found Il Tartufo on side street . Sat outside but they have a huge seating area inside. Tried their vegetable pizza, very good. When i went inside I saw their coal fired pizza oven and a pasta making station where they make all their own pasta. The service here was very fast for lunch and we all enjoyed our Pasta and pizza dishes. The sauces were tasty.

Night six of our Portugal trip and we already needed a break from all of the great seafood and Portuguese food so we opted for Italian. This place was hopping on a Friday night so we could not get an outdoor table. After they tried to banish us into a back room we instead got a nice table in the middle of the main dining room. We order their Diavola pizza with spicy salami - it was very good. Our traveling partners ordered a black truffle oil pasta that was so good they would have "licked the bowl" if not in a restaurant. Classy huh? They have a women making fresh pasta right in the dining room which was fascinating to watch. We really liked this place! read more

Great Italian place just off the square behind the Astoria hotel. An Italian lady has her workstation out in the dining room so you can watch her making the housemade pasta. Fantastic!!!! Pricing was a little higher than other spots in the area but the taste and quality justified it. read more

Like other tourists of Portugal, we needed a flavor change. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. For starters, we shared the Prosciutto & melon. The melon was so sweet and very large, that we saved part of it for dessert. I enjoyed the pasta with mussels in a flavorful red sauce. The mussels were plentiful and huge. My wife ordered the linguini with roasted boar that she totally enjoyed. Service was prompt and friendly. We especially liked that we were dining with lots of locals. What can I say about the food here? Edible at the best. So, we started with a soup. Ordered a Minestrone, which is typical Italian, so you would think they cannot mess it up. Wrong! What we got was pureed carrots and potatoes. No other flavors were detected in that bowl. Pure babyfood. Next, a salad for me and a Pizza Diavola for my husband. For a 13.5 Euro salad, I would expect fresh greens, but the arugula was wilted. The topping was a lot of plain mayonnaise, which was totally unnecessary. The pizza was not good. What we're looking for in a pizza is mostly the crust. This failed miserably. Not an Italian recipe for sure. I don't know what we were hoping for, but we also ordered dessert. Panna cotta, which should be creamy, was white gelatin. And the strawberry gelato was full of ice chips, as if they kept it in the freezer for too long. And still, the restaurant was full. Maybe tourists like us, stopping for dinner once (and never again), that saw the restaurant was full and took it as a good sign? Anyway, if you read this before you go there, choose another place. Just what we wanted after days of Portuguese cuisine. Something a bit lighter. Pizza. We had the Hawaiian: pineapple and ham. It was OK. A tad undercooked. Also, an easy drinking red wine: Casa de Santa's, Dão for €13.5 This place is about marketing to people who want "Italian" food in Coimbra. The contrived atmosphere is pleasing in a fake Tuscan manner. Actually came here twice. Busy restaurant with friendly servers, a woman making authentic homemade pasta while we dined. Nothing intimate about this large property but it fit the bill Very generous portions which could easily be shared. To die for bruschetta , housemaid ravioli, caprese salad, some tasty red wine topped with an espresso. No complaints here. read more

Very good Italian restaurant serving homemade pasta. The ravioli & lasagna were both delicious.

It's Portugal so we wanted Portuguese food, but being Sunday evening a couple of places we tried were closed so we went to this Italian restaurant instead. Italian owner or manager was kind of pushy which was a bit annoying, but we had a good meal there. Good Insalata Mista (mixed salad €5) , vegetarian pizza (€9) was tasty and had plenty of vegetables, pasta with vegetables- Tagliatella Vegetariana (€9.50) was a bit oily but good. For dessert we had the "Misto Della Casa Dolce" (€6.50) which was a huge plate with four different desserts: a choice of gelato flavors-we picked chocolate; panna cotta; Tiramisu; kiwi slices with whipped cream. They were very good. Don't get it though unless you are sharing as it's big. Enough for 2-4 people. They have a big wine list both Portuguese and Italian. We just had a half bottle (.375 liters) of the house wine which was an Italian red (€6) which tasted fine. The service was good and we had a good meal. read more
