I visited Il Centro specifically for "toast," which is different from the American kind of toast. Toast in and around Venice is actually a toasted sandwich of ham and cheese. Nothing else is added, just ham and cheese. And it's good -- so good.
My dining partners also got tramezzini, which are white-bread sandwiches with the crusts cut off, stuffed with all sorts of things, including sliced hard-boiled eggs and tiny shrimp. I wanted to try a tramezzini, but I was stuffed from my toast.
This restaurant is located in the Nave de Vero mall, and there are a lot of little tables available to sit and eat your sandwiches. One thing I love about Italy: I noticed that a lot of people had ordered glasses of wine to eat with their mall food sandwiches. They were just sitting and drinking a glass of wine! In the mall!
