This place is not bad if you are in the area. Paris, is a great place with so many fantastic restaurants. However, on this journey, i was staying in the east side of Paris for work and so was not in the more touristy areas. Walking with colleagues, we were looking for italian food and stumbled on il capriccio.
a. Ambiance - 3 star - We ate outside for fresh air, but the street was not conducive to a really great ambiance, traffic, cars, people walking to close and asking for hand outs. There was a nice indoor place, and overall, the quality was very nice, just that the neighborhood is busy, more traffic vs. touristy.
b. Service - 5 star - Service at this place was great. Very attentive to us, we were attempting to speak french and were stumbling and the waiters helped us out a lot and spoke english very well. Fast, quick to get us whatever we needed.
c. Food - 4 star
a. Appetizers - We ordered two types of appetizers, the antipasto and the vegetable platter. Due to my inability to speak french, I ended up with two vegetable platters. I take the blame, and anyway the antipasto had a lot of deli meats and already had a sodium induced haze from the daily deli meats we are being served at lunch, so veggies were a welcome respite!
b. The food - Most of the friends had pasta and they said it was good. Some had the lamb chops and they really loved it. I always measure an italian restaurant by the Osso Buco and this place not only had it, but served it perfect. Delicate, tender, falling off the bone. Just right amount of "marrow" to yank out of the shank as well.
c. The wine and beer - Ordered some of their draft beer, it was okay. They 1664 bottled beer was okay, but the heineken was preferred by all as it was in the larger cans??? Hmmm quantity. For the wine, we ordered a nice bottle of Sancerre and it was just right.
This is not a bad place, not somewhere I would spend time to get to, but if you are walking about, it is pretty decent.
