Went here for my mother in laws 60th birthday. We were placed in front of the door, which was fine until someone opened it and let the cold air in. The manager was not in, instead we were served by 2 young girls. They were polite and attentive but could maybe do with brushing their hair before coming to work. I was a little nervous about eating here because I have coeliac disease but was pleasently surprised with the amount of gluten free options available. We waiting about half an hour for our starters, I was told everything is cooked from scratch. I ordered grilled peppers for my starter. In total there was less than 1 pepper on the plate, cut up with bacon on top. I was looking forward to the main, pork belly, it's my favourite and I was still hungry. When it arrived I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Instead of slow roasted pork belly, I got a slab of crackling that was black underneath, and had no meat on it at all. Just crackling. Another member of our 'party' also ordered pork belly but she had a decent portion of meat under the crackling, hers wasn't black and she didn't have to use a steak knife to eat it. Nice to see consistency! I didn't order dessert, I just wanted to go home and eat. For a supposedly upper class restaurant, I was so disappointed. We paid good money for very little food. We won't be eating there again. read more
