Ok, let's clarify. Evidently this is a morning place for coffee and has a bakery and in the evening it is a restaurant. I went for dinner. (I guess the good reviews are for morning bakery and coffee) I read many reviews expounding on its greatness and the commitment to proper farming etc. Everything we had was a great disappointment. Even the cocktails. They make everything and that included the components in the cocktails--weirdest negroni ever. Ravioli with pesto in a super tangy homemade yogurt with dill...(one bite...that's all I could handle) I ordered the oysters and honestly do not even know how to go into describing them...(do not order) The waiter was very nice and very excited about the restaurant....Taste-wise, this was just horrific. read more

Would not recommend, very bad service. Start off was told NO Reservation, no service at 6pm. The place was empty. Gave us a table and was told that we only can order a set menu that they created (could not choose anything on the menu or just a pasta). Was also told not to complain because the cook was not going cook fast and we had to wait. This was told to us before we even sat down to look at the menu. Trust me don't even waste your time. There is a lot more restaurant around, just walk 3 to 7 minutes over the bridge you have a ton more restaurants to choose from (nicer and friendlier) read more

Every Tuesday you can feast at Il Buco, or whenever you feel like booking the whole restaurant for a wedding, birthday, funeral, or? For booking you just have to write Christer (the owner) an e-mail. I have tried a wedding dinner and a Tuesday night at Il Buco. Both were more than wonderful. The feeling of the place is like Sunday lunch with the family. Most courses are served on big plates, and you have share with your neighbors. By the way you are sitting very close to each other at long tables together with people you do not know. Groups at the ends and two persons in front of each other at each side of the table. The food is organic, and very well prepared in an Italian way. The wine is also organic and natural. Between courses you can eat a little bread with oliven olie, and olivens. You are in for an experience, when you visit Christer. At Tuesdays you pay 200-300 Dkr for dinner (5-6 courses), a glass of wine, and coffee. At the counter you can buy more wine by the glass or bottle. Christer will give you good wine advice.selection of wines is not very big, BUT they are selected with great care at mostly small wine yards. In a hidden back alley of Islands Brygge - little Italy is bubbling! The owner is Christer, who is best described as an Italophile guy, with a large timber mans beard, ponytail, viking tatto and a pirate earring - and a very welcoming smile, runs this amazing, hidden, warming little place, that every tuesday serves a three course meal, plus a glass of wine, and coffee for ridiculous 275 kroner. Everyone is seated at long tables and the talk begins just as you place your bum in the seat - it is so cozy! I went with a friend tonight and I am completely full, happy and slightly drunk. Tonight we were served, and I kid you now on the amount! As starter we had; baguette with beautiful italian olive oil, baked and pickled tomatoes, olives, 'italian hummus', crostini with mushrooms, gorgonzola with honey and nuts, sunchoke with parmasan and rosemary, smoked salmon from Fanø with mayo. This starter FEAST lasted 1.5 hours, and I was full after! Then came the main with tender braised pork cheeks with braising liquid, mash and picked onions. And a dessert with light vanilla ice cream, rawmarinated apples and toasted pumpkins seeds. All was accompanied by Italian wines Christer himself imports and sells. Tucked in a courtyard, in an old warehouse loading dock, very cool location and great food. Make sure you book as it gets filled quickly even in the middle of the week. Food was perfect, portions were a good size without feeling stuffed by the end of dinner. Awesome place! read more

We were near the Bella Center for a conference and literally stumbled into Il Buco while looking for another restaurant. Glad we found this place. The Polpo is just like the way I had it in Barcelona. I was expecting the gnocchi to be paired with tomatoes, but instead it was infused with tomato essence. Looked pretty and tasted wonderful. Il Buco is an unexpectedly delight. My third dish was the hake with mussels, really fresh fish and mussels. Yum! read more

Tried out to find a restaurant nearby the hotel using yelp, and decided to try out this restaurant because of the high ratings. The food was OK but nothing special really. What troubled me the most was the small servings. I could easily have mustered two dinner courses but decided to go elsewhere. Service was rather quick when getting the food, but when I wanted the check it felt like they were waiting for me to order something else. I don't believe I will come here again. read more

A hard-to-find gem in a not very interesting part of the city. But it's worth seeking out with good food and a comfortable atmosphere. It seems to only be open on Tuesdays or by appointment, so be sure to call ahead to reserve a table or find out if they are even open. You have to sit at one of the long tables with strangers so I hope you don't have social anxiety. A meal there cost me 350 dkk and included the welcome drink; a glass of delicious Prosecco. There are also bottles of cold water on the table with glasses; much appreciated! There was a jar of good olives laid out to start along with a spoon and a cup for pits. But then came the bread. I could have just eaten that all evening and been just as happy. It is a perfect bread with a crust on the verge of being burnt and a chewy, sour crumb. And the olive oil that they set out with it was outrageous; so fruity and fresh! I ended up buying a bottle to take home. I had to fight with myself to ease up on the bread and enjoy the rest of the meal. We got 6 courses; bruschetta with pickled red onion, eggplant parmesan, leeks, ceviche (with a reminder that it is not Italian), risotto, and apple cake. All of the savoury dishes were great, probably thanks to copious amounts of Parmesan cheese, especially the buttery leeks and morseish risotto with salsiccia. The ceviche was a lovely refresher between the heavier dishes, and the fennel that it came with even won over one of my dinnermates who thought she didn't like fennel at all. After such a nice dinner, the apple cake was a little disappointing since it was mediocre. Not bad, just nothing special about it. The wines were a little on the expensive side, being 80-90 dkk per glass. But the guys working there are enthusiastic about the wines that they have picked out and really want you to try as many as possible! They don't rush you to choose something and want to make sure that you are happy with your decision. Although it was an excellent meal, there were a couple things that made it fall short of 5 stars. Not all of the staff knew what was going on; we found that out when we asked if we had come in through the right entrance and they just looked at eachother quizzically. Secondly, the service is staggered. There aren't enough staff on hand to serve all the tables at the same time so the meal took a good 3 1/2 hours. And we are not even ordering food or wine; the menu is already set and you have to go up to the counter to get wine yourself. Copenhagen is a city of excellent food. For North Americans traveling here this is an excellent dinner stop. Modern Innovative, delicious and novel northern Italian-fusion dishes with nice wine selections, and a fun vibe to the place. We were quite happy with the meal, this it got very busy as the night wore on. The dishes are smaller, so the suggest two-to-four per person. Excellent and bold flavours but small portions at pretty stiff prices. You can order dish by dish and service is very good and quick so make use of that and avoid ordering up front. Limit yourself to two dishes and fill up with the excellent bread to avoid breaking the bank, but splurging is worth it for the adventurous combinations on offer. Perhaps the fact that it's all "100% organic" explains the prices. The place certainly smelled organic... But let's talk food. The basil mousse paired with the asparagus deserves special mention as does the braised beef tagliatelle which is absolutely packed with thyme without being overpowering. It's a dish I didn't know was possible and that boldness is the reason I'm giving full marks. Just know that really sating your hunger here will be expensive. read more

Not the friendliest service. After several hours of traveling with a three-year-old, all we wanted was to sit down and have some pasta for dinner. Because of the positive reviews we decided to go there. The entrance was through the kitchen, the hostess kept insisting they didn't open until 5:30p.m. and that they were booked. There were only two customers in the whole place and when I looked at my watch it was 5:30 on the dot. We were made to feel unwelcome and burdensome. My husband asked if we were on a different time zone and when the hostess/waitress saw no other way out, she rolled her eyes and said she'd ask the kitchen what time it was. She eventually came back with menus. The food was salty and portions were too small. When we left the place was still empty. Wouldn't recommend it. read more
