This was the best meal we had in Denmark. The ambiance of the restaurant is very good and staff was very friendly and numerous. We did the a la carte menu and everything was top notch. Also- they bring you a board of desserts as examples for ordering. But they also have tiramisu which is off menu and excellent

A lot of items here are pretty pricey, which makes sense being a nice restaurant. La Rocca was connected to our hotel, which made eating here very convenient. They start you off with bread which we demolished. Their pizza is really good, and for some reason their water is as well... Service wasn't great, but overall I had a good experience.

A Michelin-starred restaurant that did meet my expectations was this one. Located adjacent to the Kong Arthur Hotel where we checked in, we were recommended by the desk clerk to enjoy lunch here while our room was being prepared. It turned out to be our most memorable meal in Copenhagen. I began with Carpaccio di Vitello con Julienne Di Zucchine Marinate Scaglio Di Grana e Crema Tartufata, carpaccio of raw marinated veal fillet with marinated julienned zucchini, Parmesan flakes, and big mounds of Truffle Cream. It was a lovely, well-seasoned, and well-oiled array of cool, assorted harmonizing flavors featuring great tender veal. This dish was followed by the soup of the day, which was a robust and excellent pureed Creamy Mixed Vegetable Soup that resembled Pea Soup with squash, broccoli, and deconstructing croutons. Diane enjoyed Tagliatelle con Crema Di Scampie Gamberoni, homemade pasta with Norway lobster and prawns, after I cut off the heads and opened up the shells for her, while I savored bites of Pappardelle Fresche con Straccetti Di Filetto, Crema ai Funghi Porcini e Lamelle Di Tartufo, excellent homemade wide-noodle pasta with good morsels of beef tenderloin, Karl Johan Mushroom Cream, and Truffle flakes topped by a mint leaf. Diane's entree consisted of 3 big shrimps and lobster meat bathed in a very nice Lobster Sauce. It was an artistically done pescatarian dish. The Mushroom Cream Sauce with Truffle flakes was tasty enough that I wanted to lick my plate clean rather than leave any of it behind. And, nice, hot, and doughy home-baked rolls made this easily possible. They were also tasty with butter or dipped in very good Coppini Terni Olio Extra Vergine Di Oliva. For dessert Diane enjoyed Crostata Di Pere, an excellent baked apple cake with Vanilla Gelato, while I was pleased with my Gelato Misto, consisting of Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry Gelati served with a raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. This was a very leisurely 2-hour lunch, as we were the only diners present and were not rushed through our courses. The floral ambiance of the outdoor patio dining area was pretty, and service and food preparation were both first rate. Besides the excellent flavors and taste, there was a notable artistic look to every dish. It was an Italian meal that was better than any I had previously eaten in Venice, Florence, or Rome. It also introduced us to the relatively high cost of dining well in Scandinavian countries (706 Danish Krone or about $106 U.S. dollars for two), but was well worth the cash outlay. Who would have thought that a great restaurant lay just outside the back door of our hotel? It was a great gustatory beginning to our Baltic Capitals trip, and I highly recommend La Rocca to all discriminating diners.

When we arrived early there were quite a few open seats and staff had no problem seating us. We could've sat outdoors and listened to a guitarist but opted for inside. The decor was rustic and almost every inch of the wall was covered with something. Even the ceilings were painted. Service was quite good. Attentive and fast. Our section of the restaurant was quiet. However, I felt a little sorry for one server as the couple behind us kept complaining through most of their meal and eventually had to moved due to sounds they kept hearing through the wall. We didn't hear anything. Bread service was included and each slice was soft and helped us finish off the remaining bit of sauces from our pasta. My salmon pasta was quite generous with the amount of salmon chunks. The sauce was distinct creamy tomato and mixed well with the al dente pasta. My SO's mushroom tagliatelle had a nice mix of mushrooms and rich flavor. Dinner was quite filling and we couldn't fit in dessert. Would come back again should we be back in Copenhagen.

When I saw how packed it was I knew it must live up to the hype but I was super disappointed with the experience. I was sat and served bread and upon my 3rd bite of bread I noticed it super tasted like perfume or soap. Hmmmm that's odd I tried another piece and the same thing, I spit it out. In that moment I lost trust, before my main dish even arrived. When the carbonara did arrive , to my extreme disappointment it literally had no flavor what so ever. Not one seasoning was added to this dish. I only ate about 3 bites and asked for the check. The server asked if i wanted something else but at this point i just wanted to go home. They charged me in full. I walked home in disappointment on my last night in this beautiful city filled with great food. The end.

The lime pies were inedible - much too sweet and heavy on the lemon zest in the topping. They did not ask how the steaks should be prepared and the medium meat was chewy and rubbery. I am not, when in that state, easy to please and it is that understanding that boosts the rating to its fifth star. I can only imagine how much I would enjoy the spot if I'd been feeling better and hadn't started dinner with a headache. My disgustingly American self does wish they'd had air conditioning, but that's sort of silly in a place with weather like that, I'd just chosen to visit while it was unseasonably warm. While the waitress, a bouncy young woman whose flawless English was a blessing, given my state, did indeed inquire about champers and recommend the five plate prix fixe, I elected to drink about a liter and a half of water and stick to three courses instead. In better shape, I'd recommend all five, given how good the ones I had turned out to be. The carafe was filled with tap water, a less expensive option than bottled, certainly, and the city water is excellent quality, albeit harder than I find particularly tasty. My first course was a delicious little salad with fresh greens and bits of meat and crunchy breadcrumbs, with a bit of balsamic and olive oil and a touch of some sort of crema. The second was an exquisite tuna steak with cherry tomatoes and capers and some deliciously tender asparagus. The dessert was a sort of reinterpretation of strawberry shortcake, with buttery cookie and lovely strawberry gelato sprinkled with a fascinating, colorful sort of crunch I never did identify. I have every intention of going back the next time I'm in town and trying a few more things, especially since the menu changes regularly, to keep one from being bored.

Anyway, today I went for brunch and found that it wasn't anything to write home about - so I'll write here instead :-P Our orders were taken and our coffee and cold drinks arrived swiftly, and we only had to wait a short while longer for our brunch. We were halfway through the platter, though, before the bread arrived, along with an apology about having forgotten to bring it - what distracted them I don't know, since there were only three or four other guests around, including those outside. On the plate was a crepe, two types of cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, fried mini sausages, one slice each of cured ham and two kinds of salami, an olive, capers, semi-dried tomatoes, a piece of pickled artichoke, a baby pepper stuffed with a mini ball of mozzarella, two slices of orange, a slice of melon and one of pineapple. In addition, there would have been a glass of yoghurt if we hadn't seen it on some other guests plate and asked them to leave it out - no point in wasting food when my partner in crime had already had her yoghurt this morning and I tend to not eat it anyway. On the side were two small bowls, one containing more butter than you can shake a fist at, the other maple syrup for the pancakes. And as mentioned above we also had bread at some point. Anyway, the coffee was average. Not bad, no off flavours, but also nothing that set it apart from any other mediocre cup of espresso. Kind of like the Nespresso machine we have at the office, except I like some of the varieties of Nespresso better. The brunch platter didn't fare much better. Some of the things on the plate looked a little dry along one or more edges, like they'd been cut too long ago and left waiting. The mini sausages were bland - I'm guessing cheapest brand they could find. Cold cuts clearly pre-sliced from a flat pack, giving most of the whichever flavour it may have had plenty of time to vanish into thin air, and again I'm guessing cheapest brand available. That actually goes for pretty much everything that was on the plate. Of course there's nothing wrong with cheap, and at DKK 79,- for a brunch platter you shouldn't expect outstanding quality, but for me going out for brunch is as much about having a nice treat as it is about having someone else take care of the logistics - and while we could leave the plates on the table and walk out the door and not worry about those the food itself didn't really feel like a treat.

I appreciate immensely the intent of innovating a recipe, I admire it, but unfortunately sometimes it doesn't work. And this is one of those times. I tried many Calzoni, we can say that I'm a fan of that kind of pizza and this one was probably one of the most stuffing ones. Very pretty to look at and very innovative but way too stuffing. The reason why is because on the inside of this calzone you find a sauce with meat. Calzone is already pretty filling itself so no need to add another complex animal protein like red meat (when there is already mozzarella btw) and make it even more heavy on your stomach. Anyway the pizza dough was definitely decent, nothing to say about that. Looking forward to try new pizzas and their pasta also because they have a very interesting deal of 100DKK for a dish plus a beverage. Great stuff. Will go back for sure. But for now the calzone did no live up to the expectations.

Innovative pizzas - mushrooms and truffle or salmone and tzatziki for example - fresh ingredients and best of all a proper crisp crust. Very reasonable (for Denmark) prices but they wouldn't take a foreign credit card.
