Food 8/10 We got the Baest set menu, which definitely was packed with plenty of amazing dishes, but the pizza itself was a letdown, considering how its ranked as one of the best pizza spots in the world. It started off with a nice little nutty soup, ad then came the in-house charcuterie, featuring mozzarella, parmesan, and many different cuts of meat. Those were delicious. The salad was also very fresh and unique. The sourdough bread was INSANELY soft and paired very well with the soft cheese. Next, they served a vegetable that looked like the lovechild of broccoli and cauliflower. The sauce that it came with was indescribably so good. By the time the pizza came on, we were pretty much already very stuffed. I thought the dough was very airy and nicely chewy, but it felt like as if it was missing something. Couldn't really place my finger on it but I felt like it needed something more. Once the pizza cooled down it also was not as soft as it was earlier. Atmosphere 9/10 Loved the vibes, very dim lighting and cool wooden aesthetic. Upstairs they have a wine bar. Individual bathrooms on both floors, but they ran out of toilet paper in like two of the stalls. Service 7/10 Our waitress seemed super frazzled and nervous, so we thought we said something harsh that made her upset, but I think it was also probably her first day or week, and she was just getting the hang of things so it's ok. Hope she's learning though because she forgot our water and we had to ask again.
Baest has a palpable vibe in which they want to replicate an American version of the trattoria. Oldies music is crooning through the speakers, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, to name a few. The style of the restaurant is super modern and minimalist as possible, an aesthetic not par from the course in Denmark. Food was good, a little salty for my liking. Some of my favorites were the Baest pizza, the tomato soup and the olive oil ice cream (I know, but it's good. Also, olive oil is in my veins!). Service was lackluster, somewhat friendly but very slow. If you're craving decent pizza in the area I'd recommend it but wouldn't go for all the bells and whistles, just have the pizza.

Thankfully we made a reservation because immediately upon open literally every table in the restaurant was full. Words won't do justice for how incredible every single thing was. The summer salad with crisp romaine and fresh pistachios & pistachio dressing, I will forever be dreaming of this salad. The espresso martini on draft was the smoothest, creamiest, most delicious espresso martini i've ever had - and dairy free of crouse. The pizza is Neapolitan Style, which sometimes can be a little gooey but WOW, this was the best neapolitan style I've ever had. It was light and airy and had the most perfect crispy to it. My only issue was on the mariana pizza they won't allow you to add a topping - which seems silly but it was still out of this world amazing. Service was just okay. But the food - WOW - 10/10! Definitely a must-eat in Copenhagen!

Saw this place on a food show and had to check it out. The mozzarella was some of the best I have ever had! Each dish was great. The homemade mozzarella, aged prosciutto and spinach was absolutely amazing! We had never tasted spinach like that before. The grilled summer squash in pesto was a nice dish that was almost refreshing. The two pizzas we got were delicious! The mushroom pizza was the winner by the narrowest of margins, but both were phenomenal! We over ordered for just two, but everything we ate was great, so no regrets here.
Baest came highly recommended by some locals. Hailing from NY our standards for pizza are high. The mozzarella is made in house on the second floor where all the magic happens which is impressive. Stick with the classics like #1 pizza (tomato sauce, garlic, Baest stracciatella and fresh oregano). Be aware: the stracciatella is more liquid than solid as well as the burrata. Reservations are recommended but we came early on a Sunday without one, had drinks at the bar first then made our way to our table.
I traveled all the way from Los Angeles and was very excited to try this pizza. I've heard such good things. I came with my girlfriend. We were initially seated in a dark and stuffy corner of the restaurant. We asked to move seats and the host abided our request, which is good. Then everything went down hill...nobody came to our table for over 20min. It was like we didn't exist. Then a couple gets seated next us and gets helped immediately. The awful service and lack of customer service turned us off. We knew we had to leave due to the such poor attention to us. We walked to Brus right next door and were welcomed with open arms. Service was top notch and food came out fast. Baest was a nightmare. I'd wish management would reach out to all those with the same experience , as there appears to be multitudes of other reviews as mine. Would like to come back with a fresh start if mgmt cares to answer us.
We selected the Bæst Menu for our party of four. It is a menu built by the chef around a pizza that we chose. We actually chose 2 pizzas, Number 2 (my favorite) and Number 4. The full menu includes charcuteries, house-made cheeses, bread and a few dishes. Our dishes were cold pea soup, asparagus stalks with a pistachio pesto, and cold asparagus served atop Bæst* stracciatella. When I say the food was amazing, please know that I am not exaggerating. The cheeses were the freshest and best I have had the opportunity to eat. Even my picky 16 year old son enjoyed them! That is saying a lot! The bread, which is made next door to the restaurant, was soft with a crispy crust. Add some fresh Bæst* mozzarella and you have a mouth watering bite of deliciousness. (The cheeses are made daily in house.) The ambiance and service was exceptional. The servers were attentive to our needs but did not rush us. They wanted us to have a good experience, and we did. I hope to eat here again when I return to Copenhagen.
My wife and I visited Copenhagen in September of 2021 while on vacation from the States. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was our favorite meal in Denmark and one of my favorites of all time. The meat and cheese plates are incredible and it is worth the trip just for those. The pizzas are from the wood-fired oven and very good, but we would go again just for the meat and cheese (and bread)! If you love charcuterie then this is the place for you!
Before leaving for Copenhagen, I was told repeatedly to check out Baest, even the chef we met at Pony told us to stop by. So yes, our expectation for this place was high...very high. And that was our mistake #1. Our mistake #2 was for not making a reservation on a Saturday night. Sure it was packed and crowded, but it was just the 2 of us and we didn't want our schedule to be constraint from a pizza meal. While we did get seated right the way, the waiter did make a comment about us not having a reservation. Our mistake #3 was choosing a pizza that our waiter recommended. We had #3 (Tomato, smoked BÆST mozzarella, BÆST 'nduja, onions and oregano). We went for it because it was a bit spicy and I thought, when do you come across a spicy pizza? And yup, there was a reason for that. While the crust was thin and crunchy and the mozzarella was fresh and delicious, the combination of spiciness just didn't do it for us. Drinks were good tho - must try their famous BÆST spritz'ino. I would suggest trying pizza #1 as that's what the couple next to us had and it smelled delicious! Overall, a decent experience if you are in the mood for pizza and the cheapest dinner we had during our 3 days in Copenhagen!
What can I say about Bæst? It's mediocre and I don't get the hype. Take a walk around Copenhagen and you'll see that they love pizza here, but who doesn't? As a native New Yorker, I'm no stranger to a good slice but I had no real desire to waste my stomach on pizza. Bæst claims to have the 8th best pizza in the world so I had to check it out. Spoiler alert: I wouldn't put them on the top 100. They're good but nothing to write home about. Walk in and you'll be taken back to Pizzeria Uno. I'm not kidding, it's the same smell. The hostess was rude and couldn't be bothered with us coming in. Let's put it out there, they're pretentious and full of themselves. They sit you down and give you a pre-menu menu. Basically it's a drinks menu but no food menu. Why don't you just give us both at the same time? And if you don't read it on the menu, you'll hear it from the staff; they're organic and have their own farm blah blah blah. This is the core issue with Bæst and other restaurants in Copenhagen, they take organic and sustainable to a cult level. Yes that's all great but you need to remember that people eat out not to be sustainable, we eat out to be impressed by tasty food. If it doesn't work, I don't care how many pickled or sustainable methods you used. Oh yes, they charge for water like many other places in Copenhagen. It's apparently because they don't make enough from just the food. I don't think this place has that problem but yet they still do it. The cocktails were yummy. The buratta was drier than I am used to. The garlic bread was okay and the pizza was decent. Overall you'll shelling out $100 US for basically a pizza and bread. Not worth it. Skip this place.
Baest was on my Copenhagen hit-list. They don't take reservations, so I figured I'd explore the city and then walk on over when they opened for dinner (pre-Covid). I walked over after a day of wandering, and there was already a wait! I put my name down, agreed on at least of a wait time of an hour, and killed time at a bar across the alley. I was seated at a high-top, and be prepared for being elbow-to-elbow. The ambiance was quintessentially Danish, the hygge, the hearth, and the strong design. If you don't like tourists, I'd avoid this place. The high-top I was seated at was full of tourists from other countries, and one came as far as Chicago to try their much-fabled pizza! I started with their salad, which was probably the best salad I've ever had. The cured egg is a Danish solaegg, but the hard yolk is grated over the salad very similar to bottarga. That combined with the parmesan made the salad my favorite umami bomb ever. I ordered the pizza #3--nduja, onion, mozz, and oregano pizza. Holy moly, this was the most beautiful pie I've ever seen. All of their cheese is made in house, and you can see the beautiful milk fat. I didn't know whether to ogle my pizza or eat it, but I'm glad I did the latter. It was such a joy to eat!
Was told repeatedly that Bæst is the absolute best pizza in Copenhagen, so we naturally had to try it out. Turns out, that isn't true at all. This was one of the more underwhelming dining experiences I've had. The restaurant space and service were great, but nothing we ate there was good. For started we got the garlic bread with stracciatella. This was the best item we had and it was just ok. For pizza we did the basic tomato and cheese as well as the mushroom. The mushroom was ok, but t didnt really hit the spot. The Tomato and Mozzarella was terrible. It was covered in sauce to the point anytime you bit into it, a glob would splatter down on my plate. The sauce itself was not particularly tasty either. I found it too tart which was only emphasized by the amount they used. I was disappointed because you could tell the dough they used was quite nice, just was not able to make up for the rest of the pizza. Lastly, for a meal like this, I truly feel like we overpaid. read more
Living in North Jersey all my life, I like to think I have a discerning palate when it comes to pizza. Bæst landed on TimeOut's none too scientific list of the best pizza spots in the world, clocking in at #13. Located on a side street in the Nørrebro neighborhood west of the inner city, Bæst has a trendy Mediterranean vibe and stellar cuisine to match. Unsurprisingly, it was packed at 6:30 on a Sunday evening but I managed to get a seat at the bar. Building up an appetite from the miles and miles of walking in the afternoon, I skipped the a la carte offerings and ordered the Bæst menu: a set meal of 7 chef selected bites and half of a pizza of choice. The first dish up was a creamy gazpacho with olive oil and fresh oregano. It was refreshing and light. This was followed by antipasti: fresh bread, fresh mozzarella, stracciatella with tomatoes and olive oil, pickled fennel, a green salad, and cured meats (soft salami + bresaola + prosciutto). The bread and cheeses fared better than the meats. The next up was an outlier: a roasted half ear of corn with shredded parmesan and ancho chili. It was tasty but felt out of place, like elote by way of Salerno Finally: the pizza. While there were a number of inventive styles on the menu, I kept it simple with the Number 1: tomatoes, garlic, fresh oregano, stracciatella. The crust was properly charred, Neopolitan style and the slight acidity of the tomatoes cut into the milky richness of the stracciatella. An excellent pizza all around read more

Before my husband and I got married in Copenhagen city hall we came here for an amazing dinner. This is probably the best pizza I've ever had. And lets not forget the amazing service. The server was incredibly polite and explained the chef's methods in making these perfect pizzas. It was so delicious and so fresh. We absolutely loved eating here and want to go back. Important tip: make a reservation days in advance if possible it's a popular place! read more

Delicious food and even better staff. Sat at the bar and let them choose everything for me. I did the 7 course meal with the #1 pizza (highly recommend that pizza). Very thankful I visited this place! read more

I'm right between a 4 and a 5 on Bæst. I'd deduct maybe a half-star because it's a little pricey. On the other hand, we'd definitely come back. We made a lunch reservation right at the open. Walking in, Bæst already had that terrific wood-fired oven scent. Service was very friendly. Because we're not above a drinking lunch when we travel, my wife ordered and loved her Apple Spritz. My Negroni was also well-made. ("Who screws up a Negroni?" you may ask. Some places do. Not Bæst.) The stars of the show are, of course, the pizzas. Terrific dough, house-made cheese and fresh everything. We had a seasonal pumpkin pizza and a more basic tomato, cheese n greens pizza. (The name escapes me.) We left satisfied but not stuffed, and though I'm not sure I'd place it in "top ten in the world," it's definitely way up there. read more
If you are in Copenhagen Baest is pretty much a must visit. The pizza is hyped and we have had great pizza around the world and this is certainly up there. Not the best but very very good. The menu has a nice variety of starters, salads and snacks. We had a late lunch and limited our ordering to one starter and a couple of pizza's. Started with a large plate of Pak choi, ricotta & dried black olives which was plenty for two and very tasty. Wanted to have a red and white pizza the red was: Tomato, smoked mozzarella, 'nduja, onions & oregano. The white pizza was: Smoked mozzarella, pork sausage, broccoli & pecorino. Both pizza were really good. For me the test of good pizza is the crust. The crust at Baest is crispy yet also has a good chew. That is not easy to accomplish. The size of the pizza was also perfect for sharing. They have a good wine list to pair with the variety of pizza, we had a glass each of a white and red. Service was excellent even though the place was hopping. Special thanks to the Pizza Chef at the oven who took the time to talk pizza with my wife (who is a damn good pizza maker). Comparing notes with one of the worlds best was a hell of a bonus and the wife was thrilled. read more

Loveeeed this place !! During my research for my trip to Copenhagen this name came up a lot. "8th best pizza in the world" oh yeah I had to check it out !!! I made a reservation so we got there at 6 and it wasn't that busy we prob didn't need the reservation. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and seated. Our server came right away realizing we had never been there before she explained the menus to us and made some suggestions. We ordered the pizza tasting(that not what it's called) where they give you a little of everything Fresh baked sourdough bread- house charcuterie plate - fresh mozzarella- kale salad a few other small plates- pizza and gelato. Everything was amazing the star for me was the bread and the mozzarella but everything just tasted so fresh and just filled with flavor! Great friendly service and great food ! I highly recommend this place ! Our entire bill was $99 (usd) and that's including my husbands 2 beers... well worth it left with smiles and full bellies ! read more

Craving pizza in Copenhagen? This is THE place. Bæst is a sister restaurant to the bakery Mirabelle right next door-meaning they have the best dough! Here you will find some unique pizza options in another one of Copenhagen's cozy eateries. I recommend the kale salad with pumpkin, clementines and hazelnuts! read more

Items Selected: Raw Milk Stracciatella, Garden Herbs and Summer Truffles with House Sourdough Tomato, Bæst 'Nduja, Smoked Bæst Mozzarella, New Onions, Oregano Tiramisu, House Mascarpone, Dark Chocolate, Coffee Collective Espresso, Rum Owned by Christian Puglisi, the Italian-born Dane who has been helping to shape the face of Nordic cuisine ever since he departed noma to open relæ in 2010, Bæst has been said by some to not only offer the best Pizza in Denmark but also potentially the best anywhere outside of Naples, the Chef's commitment to doing everything possible on-site perhaps even more impressive here than at his flagship or at Manfred's. Centered around a 900°F wood oven and a cold-fermented Dough made of local Flour, the space a lengthy one with an open kitchen and well-stocked bar in trendy Nørrebro, Bæst originally opened at the end of 2014 and although the table-turning service and two-hour reservation windows originally bothered locals the idea has nonetheless sustained and thrived, the 5:30pm daily opening often seeing a short queue for walk-ins with reservations often required for parties of four or more in order to secure a seat during prime hours. Tucked away off the street at Guldbergsgade 29, Puglisi's Mirabelle next door responsible for producing the restaurant's Sourdough and some of the Desserts, it was around 17h45 that a walk-in spot for one was requested, a seat next to the window at a communal high-top comfortable with the server a young man from Mexico who was pleasant and informative as he described Bæst's concept and recommended some of his favorite dishes. Designing the menu much like Manfred's, though certainly more broad ranging with the option for a Chef's Tasting listed at the center, it was only due to later dinner reservations that the decision was made to order a la carte, the goal of focusing on housemade Cheeses and Charcuterie limited for a party of one who also hoped to try the Pie, the online listing of plates accurate aside from desserts and fairly affordable given the focus on craft and the fact that the vast majority of items are certified organic. Featured in "Where to Eat Pizza," both that book and Puglisi's available as house copies along with free WiFi to pass the time, it was after perhaps ten minutes of instead watching the men and women manning the oven work that the first dish arrived, 155DKK (approximately $23.50USD) for a Cheese plate seemingly steep until one considers the fact that the wet shreds of Organic Raw Cow's Milk were as creamy as anything coming out of Italy with a slight hint of lactic acid up front that paired very nicely with the best Summer Truffles seen all trip, their flavor adding a light muskiness that played well of peppery Herbs from the relæ garden. Exposed here for the first time to Mirabelle's Sourdough, the almost-burned Crust crackling to the tooth with a springy center pocketed in air bubbles and slightly sour notes, it was with Olive Oil on some and Cheese on most that four thick slices were consumed over the course of sixty minutes, the stomach space completely justified even as the Pizza arrived, the leopard-spotted Crust featuring a bubbly cornicione that was light like the Neapolitan style but more rigid at its center, the imported Tomatoes pairing well with spicy housemade 'Nduja and lightly smoked Bæst Mozzarella plus thinly sliced sauteed Onions and fresh-chopped Oregano. Featuring a concise Dessert Menu, mostly Ice Cream and Gelato but also a Tiramisu using housemade Mascarpone, the obvious choice was indeed the sizable wedge that ate far lighter than one would guess despite being nicely saturated with Espresso and Rum, Puglisi's friendship with The Coffee Collective and willingness to use top quality Dark Chocolate yielding a flavor that was a bit bitter at first before mellowing out into something that still was not 'sweet,' but moreso complex and creamy building towards a Boozy finish. read more

After reading a bunch of articles/reviews on Baest, in my opinion this place has too much hype. The food was good but nothing too memorable. Service was extremely slow and we felt we waited lengthy periods of time. The flavors were clean/simple and I appreciated that but nothing stood out. read more

Beast makes some of the best pizza pies I've ever had. In fact, we ate here two of the three nights we were in Copenhagen. The bread (appetizer) with olive oil and housemade mozzarella are a must! And the #6 with stracciatella and oyster mushrooms packs a ton of flavor. The sourdough crust pizza is absolutely perfect and the toppings are fresh, flavorful and unique! Fantastic place! Very cool young hip crowd and employees! We had great service and great pizza! The music playing was fantastic as well! We were attended to immediately and the staff was very helpful in selecting what to eat. I was concerned that we were going to be uncomfortable as we literally sat opposite of the wood burning oven but we were fine and there was always a breeze possibly from the whirlwind of employees going by with food and attending to tables. I like that they use fresh ingredients from their own farm. We got to experience it first hand with delicious tomatoes on our bruschetta from their garden and a variety of greens on our stracciatella pizza that included shiso, New Zealand spinach, marigolds, and fennel on top of it. It was really like nothing I have ever experienced in a pizza. We also got the Margherita pizza which was excellent! Bæst was located on a cool street with a brewery across the alley. Lots of young people in their 20s roaming about. It was SUPER busy on a Monday night so make reservations. Definitely an awesome culinary experience! read more

Who knew our favorite meal in Copenhagen would be a pizza place? The four of us New Yorkers were completely dazzled by the warm service, beautiful interior, natural wines, and absolutely delicious food. The dough was perfect, and the certified organic ingredients all came from a nearby farm. Our favorite pizza surprised us all, being that it was a white pie of leeks, mascarpone, artichokes & 24 month parmigiano. At the end of our meal, our server mentioned that they had just finished making thefresh burrata for the day from the cows this morning, and would we like some? Despite being full, of course we did. And it was so unbelievably delicious. Do not miss going here, even for lunch it was unforgettable! read more

We went here since we heard they won an award for having one of the best pizzas in the world. I wouldn't support that reward - but they definately have some good pizzas. We ordered one pizza each and asked them to serve them one at a time for not risking them to get cold - and be able to try different kinds. They were very tasty and I recommend all of them- we had 3,4, 6 and 8. It is a bit tough to get a table booked, since we have tried to visit before, but this time we just went by and was seated within 5-10 minutes - no big deal. The staff was not very attentive - they forgot one of our orders, but otherwise only positive things to say about the place. One suggestion for improvements is to have common seating with the beer place right across, since I would want more varieties of beer options to my pizza. read more

Hands down THE BEST PIZZA!! The cheese on it was amazing. The house cured meat was fantastic. I saw enough of the city to not need to go back but I will have to go back just to eat here. read more
