I love that all Ikeas are mapped out in the exact same manner, makes it very easy to know where you are going. Whoever is in charge of stocking or inventory needs to pay attention to their job, as well as floor attendants. On the first day I went there was a particular light fixture that was sold out and I was told that there was an order "in the air" (meaning it was in the inventory to stock at night) and I should come back the next day to get it. I came back the next day and there was still none on the floor. The floor attendant this time told me that there was an order in the "air" AND that the computer was showing that there were items on the floor, although there wasn't any. So I came back the third day and they were finally there. I shouldn't have had to come back several days in a row. PLUS the warehouse itself is connected to the store, would it have been so difficult to call the warehouse and have someone bring the light fixtures out on the first day I went? read more

To say that I've had a disappointing Ikea experience would be the understatement. It took 3 visits to the store and 4 calls with Ikea to get a replacement drawer front procured. When my after stock order was lost (they blame FedEx but could never supply me with a tracking number), and oh by the way, they could no longer fulfill it....ever. NEVER get an Ikea kitchen, when they discontinue it, you will no longer be able to get parts, even IF you have a warranty issue. The manager was rude and told me that I should have watched the news to figure out that we needed to get backup parts. When I told her we don't watch TV, she retorted with "don't you have INTERNET". So fine, they're refunding me the cost of my drawer fronts that were damaged because of a design flaw. They won't call it a warranty issue since it was clearly my fault for opening a double hinged drawer the way it was designed (yes that is sarcasm since their customer service is dripping with it). We've been playing phone tag to get a refund and now they won't return our calls. This location is horrible and their kitchen warranty is a joke. Our kitchen is barely a year old. read more

IKEA has saved me from spending over $500 on furniture for my new apartment. I can easily spend an entire day at any IKEA store. DO get an IKEA card (it's free and you can get unlimited coffee or tea). It's in a convenient location, the staff are nice and informative, and the food (albeit frozen) is more than edible! read more

Love Ikea, always have. Minus two stars because my terrible cashier, double scanned not one but two items adding ten dollars to my transaction. When I tried to tell her about it while it was still my turn in line she must've had wax in her ears or didn't know how to do simple multiplication because she insisted it was correct. After getting my receipt I double checked and there they were, the wrong quantities. I called her out on it and she then called a fellow associate to help her with the quantity change, both of them obviously snickering about it, the both had the worst attitudes. Good prices, bad staff. read more

I love Ikea, I know a lot of people who say the stuff is junk, but I think they are just to lazy to put it together themselves, because its definitely better than the stuff that they have at room store(cardboard), or Marlo ; it's also Half the price, and much nicer design in my opinion. I must admit the store in nuts on a Saturday afternoon, and the best time to shop is early on a weekday. I have a room full of Ikea furniture, some of which is 20 years old and still fine. I do advise you to look at how things are made and be a educated consumer and realize a dresser that's $59 is not made has well has a dresser that's $259, and don't think it eve will be. read more

My husband and I decided that since he finally had some spare time, we would venture out to have a look at what IKEA had to offer. We weren't too thrilled. I was mostly disappointed int he crowds, not just quantity, but quality. There were grown men and women screaming profanities at one another in the parking garage. The other shoppers in the actual store clearly pay no attention to the fact that the store (and world) doesn't revolve around them as many people would walk at a leisurely pace or stop in the middle of the already cramped aisles. As far as actual product is concerned, there was hardly anything worth drooling over, and the as is section was incredibly limited. The prices weren't that great, and I felt the need to hit up my local Goodwill afterwards. I feel I would have a much better chance of finding what I want with about the same quality for the same amount of money, and definitely nice people and more helpful staff. read more

I had such a great shopping experience with ikea. I knew exactly what I wanted in there, and that's exactly what I got delivered. it was an extra hundred dollars to get it delivered, set up, and for them to bring the couch with them. They were right on time. We went there late in the evening and got our couch the very next morning. My window was 9am-1pm and thankfully enough they got here right at 9. it only took them an hour to assemble it. I am a very satisfied customer! read more

My go-to place for finding creative and unique products.

Overall, ikea always gets five stars. Their kitchen 'design' team, however, gets zero. We went in to pick their brains about kitchen options and design, with a professional set of plans and dimensions, only to be told we have to input it into this children's version of autocad. We asked if they had a 'design consultant' to help us lay things out, and decide what types if drawers/pantry cabinets/etc should go where. The floor person says no. You get to look at a little tiny picture of the cabinet you want and select it. No description- just teeny pictures. Doing this at home on a big screen would have been much easier, and frankly, my pet would have been more helpful than the present staff. She said they cannot help individuals as she is helping other people too. (Monday morning, approximately 11, no one else in the kitchen section and three other sales people). But hey, it's not in her job description, as she mentioned three times. All in all, if you have the slightest sense of functionality and design, you can do it all yourself. And at the store, you Most certainly will be on your own. read more

as fun as it was looking around seeing the cool furniture but went it came to actually getting the stuff it was way too stressful because doing things on your own the boxes are too heavy. like i came with my boyfriend and his mom but what if it was myself? i would not have been able to do it on my own because finding associates were pretty hard. Also these carts were hard to handle especially if we had boxes on top. read more

What is there not to love about Ikea? I recently moved and was looking for some new furniture to fill out the apartment. After comparison shopping, Ikea furniture was the best deal and looked good too. Caveat: this location was extremely busy and there were certain pieces out of stock. Also, I'm not in love with Ikea food the way other people seem to be, but you don't go to Ikea just for a meal....right? read more

Do not shop here at IKEA for any furniture! I purchased my dining and living room furniture here. Sitting in boxes until my handy man could assemble them... approximately a week and a half later, boxes were ripped apart (boxes were staples on sides so no way you can nicely cut the tape and open, you have to literally rip the boxes to get to furniture), as my handy man is opening the boxes, he notice immediately that pieces were broken. Some cracked in half. It was probably from the gentleman that loaded our truck (an ikea employee) dropping our boxes on the ground numerous times and throwing them in our vehicle like he was mad at the world! Any who, I went back to IKEA, I spoke with cashier as I was buying candles, told them my issue. I was told that without my boxes of my items, that I wouldn't have any way of getting a refund. I am now out of $700 of furniture that I cannot assemble. I had to trash them and order furniture from a furniture company that delivers already assembled. I used to love IKEA but after this incident, I will no longer be shopping here. read more

I have had a terrible experience dealing with IKEA through online orders. I had a terrible experience with delivery. The delivery happened through a third party and I was notified the day of that the delivery was happening. I wasn't home. The delivery company reported the delivery was made but waited ~15min then left. I had to call IKEA and this delivery company several times to get my couch. I didn't ever receive all of the items I had ordered and after several attempt to get this remedied I never got any of them. The couch is uncomfortable and not to my liking in the end. In trying to return the item my wife and I have called several times to fix this and we either get hung up on which just happened to me again or we are told the system is down. I'll never purchase anything from IKEA in store or online ever again. I will campaign against this company for the rest of my life. I'll be posting this review everywhere I possible can on a regular basis. Good luck. read more

Terrible customer service. I bought 2 mattress set weeks ago that were scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I had to call Ikea and after being places on hold and transferred for the last hour plus, I find out that the mattresses were discontinued. Their solution to this problem is "sorry" "would you like your money back?" No, I would like some mattresses delivered when promised. read more

Apparently IKEA HR can't do simple math. After I submitted a job application online where I put my date of birth (9/21/1996) I had a phone interview with IKEA that I was nervous about but did very well on, then an in-face interview where a HR member asked if I was over eight-teen I said "no, I'm fifth-teen" I was given Paperwork to sign which asked me my date of birth at least three times, and gave it back to the HR member. I had one last interview where they offered me a cashier position, I accepted took a drug test, and told the HR member that I could work as soon as I got paperwork from my school that she would have to sign to employ a fifth-teen year old. I was told to go to orientation, I got there, got my picture taken for a employee ID, and then went up to orientation where after reviewing more paperwork they wanted me to fill out they said "We can't hire you because you are under six-teen" well IKEA why didn't you tell me that before you added me into your employee database, before I wasted an hour on paperwork, and before I told everyone I had a job with you. IKEA is filled with men and women who obviously cant do simple addition. I suggest never shopping there and never, ever, applying for a job. read more

Love the place; however, I feel they are taking several steps back recently in build quality. I am a fairly skilled DIYer with a multitude of excellent tools, so I don't have to use their tiny tools to get things done. Recently my friend bought a sectional couch. It was so dissasembled that I'm surprised that they didn't want us to grow our own cotton to make the cushions. It's materials, such as the pressed wood, were of the cheapest quality I have ever seen at IKEA. The screws were made of the softest metals, the cushions of the cheapest fabric. For nearly a $1k, she could have bought a nicer assembled couch somewhere else. read more

We bought our kitchen cabinets here in January, only to find a few screws short on one of the base cabinets. They require us to drive back to the store (100 mile round trip!) rather than simply drop them in the mail and save us 2 hours of drive time! Very poor customer service. In the end, it won't be worth what we saved over Lowes for better quality cabinets. Unless you live right around the corner ALWAYS cut the boxes open in the parking lot and inspect it before you leave the store. Customer Service after the sale is INCREDIBLY BAD !! I spent over ONE HOUR trying to talk to a human being in their phone network jungle all for nothing and got not so much as an "I'm sorry" from their "specialist". I will never make this mistake again. read more

I love going to the IKEA. It is conveniently placed right next to Potomac Mills Mall, and it also has a little food court for when you are done shopping. Furniture is pretty good and fairly easy to put together. Decently priced. read more

Missing pieces from boxes and waiting in the store for an hour to recover missing pieces!!! Waste of time!!

I'm very upset and irritated with this company and I will NEVER shop here again. I bought products in store last Sunday and had my delivery scheduled between 5pm and 9pm on Monday. I had be n waiting at my home since 4:47pm on Monday and had no delivery. I called at 9:15pm trying to figure out what was going on and I was told that they said they tried to deliver to me at 6:40pm, which is a lie. I was told when I made the purchase I would get a call approximately 10 mins before arrival and when they showed up, since my building is one that you have to get buzzed into and I got neither. I requested a full refund plus shipping fee refund as I was told by the agent that I would get a call within 48hours. Here it is on day 5 and NOBODY HAS CALLED ME. I had to call today and got a woman on the phone telling me that they will be issuing me a gift card in the mail. I told her I didn't ask for a gift card and I want my money back because I'm not shopping with IKEA anymore. She also told me that it's not anyone's job to call me back within 48 hours (as the previous agent told me) and she doesn't know why anyone would tell me that. She got nasty when she put in a second ticket and told me that they would call me within 48 hours and I wanted to double check that someone would actually call me this time. After getting nasty about it I asked to speak to her manager because I no longer wanted to talk to her and she said "that's fine because I don't want to talk to you either and it's not my job to listen to you vent, you can tell the store your problems when they call you back!" and hung up on me. The numerous times I have tried to call back it keeps telling me that it's longer than normal hold times and they are unable to take my call. What kind of customer service is that? I will NEVER shop at your store again and not refer anyone else to either. read more

Food is very good for the price. Furniture is hit and miss, but non-furniture items are good for the price.

Limited stock. Poor service. . Went on a Thursday afternoon. Disappointed with stock and total lack of interest from guys on the floor to help uslocate and lift some heavier items onto our cart. Used to love going here several years ago but it seems like their prices have started going up without the quality keeping pace. I don't prefer it as much. read more

We bought a sofa and when scheduling the delivery date the saleswoman stated that delivery would be between 9am - 6pm. I did not know at the time that delivery is contracted and IKEA can only determine date not time, so not sure why the saleswoman told me times. Delivery service called said they will come between 4-8pm, which wasn't good for me, called ikea day before three different times and waited more than 30 min each time to be transferred to an extension that never picked up the phone. Called again the morning of delivery and the lady on the phone said can't change the date now you should have called the night before..... Really!? So basically, I was given poor information and if I'm not home I have to pay again for delivery. They really need better customer service. Not shopping there anymore. read more

I love just walking through and getting ideas. I can not tell you how much we have spent. Good quality and service!!

Service is so bad at this store, that me and my wife never want to step into an ikea again. If you are considering returning something, good luck with that, the systems put into place are absolutely horrendous. And my wife and I only realized it after we tried to buy kitchen from them. Mistake after mistake from delivery of product, they miss a lot of pieces in delivery, and they only give you a couple days to count boxes, but it is all labeled horribly, so it is impossible to see if you have all product, and of course we were missing some product, to designing our kitchen the first time, just constant mistakes. Ikea was my wife's favorite store before but now she does not even want to step her foot inside this or any store. You think spending over 2K on kitchen cabinets, the staff would recognize and work with you better, but nope that is not the case. Just a horrible kitchen experience. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever! If you ever need to get your kitchen redone DO NOT GO TO IKEA! Go to Home Depot or other store that specializes in kitchen remodel. I placed a full order for a kitchen remodel. Professional measurements done, kitchen gutted, cabinets ordered, installed, and counter top order/installation. Throughout the whole process I felt rushed by IKEA associates and install for cabinets and countertops kept getting delayed. IKEA works with outside vendors to gut/install cabinets/appliances and also countertops. Ended up working with 3 different vendors, however, all needed approval through IKEA. Each time the root of the problem was dealing with IKEA. Vendors received approval to begin work from IKEA late which delayed all work done. The kicker was finding out that even after professional measurements were taken, IKEA sent an email for me to pay an additional $700 for countertop install because the measurements were 9 square ft off. Really? I've already paid thousands and to be asked for $700 additional dollars was out of the question. Not to mention the IKEA associate called and spoke to me (two seconds after sending the email mind you) as if she were a debt collection agency. She asked me if i received the email. And I told her I didn't receive one. I then asked when she sent it. She then said " a few minutes ago". Really? Sorry I don't check emails every second of the day. Sorry I missed the last second you sent the email!!! I then asked if she could provide me with reasoning as to why there is such a big difference in price from the estimate and she became frustrated and said this is the procedure and this type of price difference happens often. I also asked if she could email me info on where this additional square footage was coming from. She never sent it. After calling and leaving voice messages the next day that were never returned, I ended up physically going to IKEA to meet with someone. Of course we got the person that didn't know what they were doing only for them to ask every single sales associated what was going on with our order. We then found out that the 20% discount was not added to the $700 so the leftover amount was $549 after tax. Like THAT was going to make things right. To not have to pay the additional cost I had to sacrifice the counter top backsplash which was in our original estimate. Ridiculous! After I thought the ordeal was over, I had originally scheduled counter top install to occur on the Friday I was asked for the $700. I was told that regardless of the additional costs, there would not be a delay in the counter top install. That was a bunch of garbage. IKEA did not inform the counter top vendor until three days later that the order had been resolved and paid for. So that of course DELAYED the counter top install. UNBELIEVABLE!!! If you want furniture, cute decorative items from IKEA...fine. Go for it. But for major kitchen re haul IKEA is out of the question. From start to finish this was a THREE MONTH process vs three weeks! read more

Ikea has its place in the world, but good luck trying to get out of that place. I like the lighting and display set up for the marketplace. It would be fine if that was the only phase of having to go through Ikea. When you incorporate their stock room it just confuses me. Having to identify your number and find it later in the aisles just irritates me. I guess I'm just some old stubborn husband you read about in Cosmo, but I can't stand it. Their lack of colors to choose from makes it difficult to match what I have in my home, so then I have to bumble around Home Depot to find the right color paint or stain. Oh boy, another adventure ensues at that point. There are redeeming qualities about Ikea. The design of most of the furniture and appliances there are quite pleasing. Nothing too abstract or outlandish sticks out in my mind when I think of their products. The prices of everything are well within reason, which always makes me happy. If I ever get too frustrated being inside that place, then I can always go stress eat at the café. Overall Ikea is an O.K. place. read more
