The IKEA return policy is terrible; especially if you don't have your original form of payment, in which case they will ONLY issue you a store credit?! In our case, our original payment method was stolen. We did not want a store credit, we want the money back for the items we are returning! After speaking with the unhelpful and unpleasant manager Matt, we were forced to walk out of IKEA with a store credit we will give away, and another 2 hours of our lives wasted. We will never shop at IKEA again. IKEA is the only business I have ever known to hold your money hostage if you don't have your original payment method physically with you!!! I always love coming here during the week when the masses are either in school or at their office jobs. I enjoy seeing the always changing displays and the customer service of all the employees are cheerful and helpful. I've spent more than an hour at a time playing on their creative design app in store (you can use it at home, but more fun with the ambiance in store) to redesign my pantry and laundry room. We still have not done it, but hoping to post a couple pics before my hubby ships out again! Otherwise, I love finding great pieces at decent prices like the dried hyacinth placemats, pillows, and kids toys. Wish they had been here when I had my remodel of a previous home! I have had way better experiences at other IKEA stores. I know that this is rated at one star and the rating itself is not for the store or staff itself, but for the delivery service it employs. I purchased two mattresses since I just moved into Jacksonville. I initially set it up to arrive on an off-work day, however things changed and I had to work. I tried to call the phone center to reschedule but that didn't work. All lines were busy. So I had to personally drive in to speak with a representative at the store to get it done. A new delivery date was set, and I took the day off. A call came in to confirm, but nothing showed up. I called the delivery company and they could not find the driver. Huh?!? At that point my whole day was wasted since the delivery window was 10:00am to 8:00pm. They rescheduled the delivery a week later. I was not in town so I got a coworker to hang out for the delivery. No confirmation call came in. No order came in. So now they wasted my coworkers time. When I called them, they said the driver's truck was not big enough for the mattresses. (WHAT?!?!) Rescheduled for two days later (today) for delivery. I had to set up with another coworker to wait for the order. Since no call came in again for the order, I called them for the status and they STILL didn't load the mattresses for delivery! They offered to deliver tomorrow but there is no one else I have willing to waste their Saturday for a delivery that may still not get there. I canceled the order altogether since I will not be back in town for a while. But now I have to wait for the refund when the company takes those items back to IKEA. :-/. I wonder how long that's going to take? For that I was told 5-10 business days. X-/ IKEA store manager, if you are listening or care about your customers, try to obtain a different delivery service. All I can say about IKEA is don't ever think you're going to go there and get nothing. Even when you go there with a certain agenda in your mind, you're always going to find something that you didn't realize you really needed. My husband and I went there tonight to get some lightbulbs for a fixture we bought from them, and on our way we found two wonderful little funnels and some plastic clasps to hold our veggie bags or chip bags closed properly. The funnels were only $.99 and the clasps were only $1.99. I could've walked out of there with several other things but I held back. We didn't get the lightbulbs because they discontinued the light fixture that we bought years ago. But the young man working there was very helpful in looking up all the information for us on the Internet so we could go somewhere else and hopefully find the lightbulbs we needed. Now that's what I call good customer service! Of course, IKEA always has something for everyone. And their little café is a treat any time of the day. read more

I don't even know where to start. Perhaps the fact ikea is basically a candy shop for adults? Yasssss!!! I have a serious new obsession for this place. First off, holler to who ever came up with the idea to have a drop off daycare for your kids while you shop. I don't even have kids and I find that brilliant. Please, I'd like to enjoy my shopping escapade by not having crying children in the mix. All they are missing is the glass of wine to sip and shop. Moving on, each area is different from the last. Your eyes may get a bit exhausted because there is SO MUCH detail. Each items price is listed... who likes a surprise? You write down the item number in a complimentary booklet so you can stay organized for when you're ready to check out. Getting hungry? About half way through they have a HUGE cafeteria like area to get breakfast or lunch. And let me add how inexpensive meals are .... it's crazy. I can't stress enough how affordable the prices are. Keep in mind depending on the item, you're going to be the Builder at home. They may offer for an extra charge to build it for you but thats something to check into. There is no such thing as a quick trip to Ikea. The place sucks you in and spits you out when It is good and ready. My son and I had a 3.5 hour adventure today! On a cold Tuesday the place was packed from 11:30 till 3. We went from "room" to "room" and just browsed and people watched. People opening up drawers and such. I'm a patient person, but look and move people look and move! I swear some people have no common courtesy. It did seem crammed and hard to visualize things in my house when people act like no one else matters. The line for the cafeteria was looooong and not fast moving. It took about a half hour to get to the servers. The selection is good, prices and portions very reasonable. They were out of the bread. The kids meals are free on Tuesdays. I'm glad that my son's chicken fingers and fries were free because they were cold. The flavor and texture of them were good though. My Swedish meatball plate was pretty tasty although not hot. I liked the drink choices that are only $1. Also, they have a drop off kid's area, where the kids can play for 1 hour or Ikea "Family" members get 1 1/2 hours. The kiddos must be 37in and potty trained. I was on the fence of 3 or 4 stars, but decided on 4 due to the great people at the kiddo section. Ikea opening here is my first experience with Ikea. Since they opened I have been several times. The crowds seem to have died down a little (no more need for traffic control). I seem to have a love/ hate relationship with here. I love that whatever I need I can go there and get without breaking the bank. But I hate the quality of their items. We purchased a tv stand that when we move in a couple months it will be returned. It took a few trips to Home Depot to get things to put it together. Holes weren't lined up, poor design, cheap manufacturing. If it'd fit in the car it would have already been returned but unfortunately it will have to wait. Every piece of furniture we have purchased has the laminate peeling or has cracked, drawers broken/stopped working or almost impossible to put together without purchasing additional parts. While Ikea offered to mail us parts, I didn't want half put together items in the middle of my small apartment living room for over a week while I waited. I bought a couple things that I ended up not needing but when I returned them, even though I had the receipt and never opened the packages, I didn't like that they took my license with the return. Now I realize that because of the inferior products they must limit how many returns you can make. A majority of the employees I have encountered are clueless, not helpful, dismiss you, have attitudes, etc. I asked someone a question about an item and the response was "not my department" and they walked away. Often times I find them huddled in corners gossiping about other customers or employees. I have never had anything from their restaurant nor do I care to so I can not comment of that part. The novelty of Ikea has now long since worn off for me. A majority of the items we purchased will most likely end up in the donation box when we move since they aren't worth carting across the country. Sure the experience is interesting. The first few times are fun to look at all the displays. But that ends it right there. Get the products home, that's another story I don't find many reviews actually talking about. read more

Initially thought that having an IKEA so close to my home would be miserable because of all of the traffic and congestion it would bring to the Gate Pkwy area, but they have been open for a 4 months now and it has been such a welcome surprise. I'm hoping this review will change after the hype dies but usually openers are better, so I'm worried quite frankly. Although we love Ikea for value (and DH loves the meatball meal), the newest location was not quite as awesome as the Orlando location...thus far. We went to Ikea both in opening day and a couple days later, on the second trip we waited in the long ...long line for 2 meatball meals and sadly we were just not as pleased with it. First, the meatballs were hardly even warm after the wait to pay for the food was almost as long as the wait to get the food, ( long line is one thing but cafeteria style is usually pretty quick to check out after receiving the food) they didn't staff the registers very well. Slow checkout, the staff was clearly not as adept at moving along persons who were unfamiliar with the process by pointing out the self serve area for drinks etc. Second,and to me unforgivable.., no hot sauce! What??? I asked and nope they don't carry it! Huh??? No way!!! This is the south you know! Now, I have also had this meal in Cali, and yep I'm pretty certain even they had hot sauce! Finally, the employees were not very well versed in their products , after almost 20 minutes it was confirmed that they don't have the ice pack/ waterbottle, after asking three different employees and receiving three different answers it was very frustrating. My hope, they will stick properly soon and it will be like home sweet Norway! read more

Had a great time at IKEA tonight. Went in there to browse and look at ideas for my house and office...got that and then some! The staff are helpful and friendly. This ikea was very clean and put together. The mini homes make me want to get rid of all my stuff and decorate like they did. The arrows on the ground were lost in some areas and it's easy to get off the path. Compared to the Orlando location, this one is pretty small. Parking lot was easy to park in although up front are some spots that look like were meant for families with kids. Why do they get to park up front??? Went on a Tuesday in the middle of the day so it was pretty dead. Still ended up spending a pretty penny. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. After ordering a bed and mattress since I just moved I was given a delivery date of June 1st. Received an email May 31st telling me that my delivery wasn't going to be delivered at promised time, was told to call a 1-800 number which would either say "all circuits are busy" or they'd make you wait 60+ minutes to speak to someone who just answers and say they can't hear you and hang up on you, finally got sick of it and got a chargeback on my debit card. Went to big lots and had two queen mattresses delivered same day, my poor 5 year old was having to sleep on an air mattress, not acceptable for such a large company to treat customers like that. Will never shop ikea again and will tell everyone I know not to as well. Very disappointed. read more

I loved IKEA until the moment I tried to get help with a return. IKEA's are far and few. I have to travel 140 miles to the nearest IKEA. That's roughly a two hour drive (one way, 4 hours round trip). I was informed by an employee that the bed frames I was purchasing would need slats purchased separately. The next day was assembly day and to my surprised, slats were indeed included with the bed frame. When speaking with a customer service agent over the phone, they didn't care if I lived 20 minutes or 5 hours away, they wouldn't process a return over the phone or send me a return label. I'll spend the same amount in gas as the price of the slats. It's very frustrating to know they are unwilling to help in any sort of way. 'Right now this is your only option and you can call back next month to see if anything changes'. It almost makes me want to take everything back and regurgitate my food so I can get my money back from that as well. This experience is what has changed my views. I will never go back or recommend this company. They seem great until it's time to return something. When returning items to a store, that's when you truly find out if the customer service cares about the shoppers or not. read more

Okay first let me say I love Ikea for year and year it has been my first stop when looking for home furnishings. Jacksonville now has its own and I was lucky enough to get to go check it out. In typical Ikea fashion the store is a beautifully designed maze that assaults your senses and makes you realize everything you own and the way you decorate is horrible but don't fear Ikea can change of of that and easily as well. After checking out all the furniture and picking out how to redecorate a stop to the cafe I always needed. The meatballs are always a safe bet and will forever be a delicious and driving force to get you through the maze of furniture. Next comes the market. By this point I was already under the spell of meatballs and the showroom that I was ready to hand them my wallet and take out a few new credit cards. After filling my cart with things I can not begin to pronounce and deciding I needed new pillows, sheets, comforter... (I went a little overboard) I knew that Jacksonville's Ikea is a place that is both dangerous to you wallet and a wonderful beautiful place of dreams. Living so close to IKEA, I have had many opportunities to try both the restaurant and the cafe, and both are excellent. First off, the place is spotless. The floors are shiny, the counters are clean, the tables are maintained and wiped down frequently. The employees are friendly and helpful. Both the restaurant and cafe are brightly-lit and well-staffed. And the food... As for the restaurant, the Swedish meatballs are a slam dunk. Pair them with fries and have the attendant smother it all with extra gravy (they also have chicken meatballs and veggie meatballs). The chicken cordon bleu is on-point, as are the chicken fingers. The desserts are all delicious (the chocolate cake is so decadent your ears will start ringing halfway through, so good...get a cup of coffee to go with it, and sign up for the IKEA family card so the coffee is free). Prices are very reasonable. Where else can you get chicken cordon bleu for $4.00? Stop in early for the Swedish breakfast of pancakes, potatoes, and chicken sausage. All for $2.00! The cafe is also great: Pizza slices are generous, the hot dogs are big and juicy, the cinnamon rolls are huge and sweet, and the frozen yogurt is a big heaping serving. And nothing at the cafe is over $2.00! While you're there, take a minute or ten and run through the grocery section and you'll find many of these treats packaged to go for cooking at home. Who doesn't like IKEA? My all time favorite store. You have to strap on your walking shoes because it is an adventure going here. I enjoy the cafe with great prices. They have awesome quality with lots of options. I can stay in there all day and not get bored. And you must reward yourself with an i cream or cinnamon roll for making it all the way through lol. I visited this store today. Like most new IKEA stores it's beautiful inside. The cafe was good and the staff therein delightful. I got to checkout with a bag full of goodies, and left without purchasing anything beyond lunch. Despite having at least 18 checkout lanes, there were 3 cashiers working. All of whom seemed unable to complete orders without manager of department head assistance. After 30 minutes in line I left without my picks. No point. Oh. And my wife found a box cutter, unattended at child level with no staff anywhere close by. Seems pointless to have built a facility like this that is impossible to actually patronize. If you do go, pack your patience and watch your kids. read more

First time ever being in an IKEA! And I must say, I totally understand the hype! It is most certainly a grown-up maze with a ton of everything in a very huge space, not just furniture-AT ALL! I thoroughly enjoyed my first night in IKEA on family and friends night. IKEA officially opens on November 8th! I tried the Cinnamon Roll (which was highly recommended) and it was delish! I believe IKEA is from Sweden? Great concept to a store, furniture, plants, kitchen stuff, kid stuff, rugs, lamps, a restaurant... yes.. a restaurant! Oh! And a place called "Smalworld" (I know that's not how we spell it) but a freaking daycare where u can drop your kids off while you shop!!!!!! I wouldn't leave my kid there unless she was maybe a little older than 4, BUT that is so legit!!!!!! And the best for last, the stuff in the store seems to be high quality, but the prices? They are soooo affordable! I love Target to death and I'm just here to say Target might be replaced! Really the only thing IKEA is missing is clothes and shoes, pretty much! Enjoy folks! read more

I love Ikea products and have been shopping at their stores since they came to the United States but this store takes the cake for how long it takes to get through the line. I think the "mart" does a better job than the Jacksonville Ikea with checkouts. 3/2 visit same issue with long checkout lines. Purchased furniture that had to be delivered scheduled to be delivered between 9-1 on 3/3. Got a call at 9:45 that it would have to be rescheduled, different stories depending on who you speak with as to why. Driver says it was an emergency, store says it never made it on the truck. It is ending up wasting my entire day and evening. I spoke with corporate and they said the delivery days and times are just "requests", I used to think it wasn't possible to be worse than the cable company. read more

If you're use to the Orlando or tampa IKEA then you may be very disappointed with the Jacksonville location. It is much smaller than the others and seems to lack in the organization flow. You wont be able to access the cafe unless you go through the entire store, where the others had the cafe right next to the entrance on the second level (Jacksonville is one level btw) and the lines always seem to be extremely long here. All in all, its nice to have an IKEA closer to home. If you're a pet owner, I HIGHLY suggest taking advantage to their cheap lint rollers and roller fillers - they work better than my Scotch Tape rollers. read more
