IKEA - Katy Fwy (Houston) Sometimes, it's rewarding to be at the right place, right time. I visited this IKEA for the first time and I was able to be rewarded by 11 AM, for being among the first, forty, IKEA Members. For a limited time, IKEA is doing a Giveaway to the First, 40, Registered Members, to Celebrate their 40th Anniversary. (Visit your local store for details) The first, 40 Members, receive a chance to participate in a drawing to win $5-$500 IKEA gift card. I was able to draw a $5 gift card, which paid for over 80% of my Swedish Meatballs Meal (12 count). Normally, 12 count meatballs meal cost $9.99. For a limited time through September 2025, Members receive 40% discount, as part of the 40-Year Anniversary. After my delicious meal and enjoying my time in their clean and brightly lit dining room, I decided to walk around and see if I could find anything I could buy. Side note, at IKEA, it can be dangerous to walk around and not buy anything. If you don't come with discipline and willpower to not buy something you don't actually need. LOL! I enjoyed imagining, as I walked through different rooms. What's your favorite room to get lost in your imagination? For me, the kitchen. IKEA always does such a great job at showcasing their kitchens. Almost eliminating guess work of what your next kitchen can look like. The second magical place I like to be lost in my imagination is their lighting area. I've always admired how unique their lamps look, as well as, light fixtures. Overall, I enjoyed being at this location and looking forward returning.
Shopping in Houston, Texas... My youngest niece has never been to an IKEA. There's none in Hawaii... so, this was an educational experience for her. We showed her how to follow the arrows on the ground to see everything and not get lost. She saw the setups for different rooms in the house as well as many types of furniture, kitchen gadgets, snacks, organizational items, beverages, plushies, etc. Her parents actually wanted to dine here, but it closed at 8pm. Shucks... no Swedish meatballs for her... Maybe next time! Thanks to the nice worker who told us about the dining room hours! We scanned our own items and had our own shopping bags!
IKEA Houston has been one of the places in this city that I've visited more than a handful of times in the past decade. Whether it's to shop for furniture, look for inspiration or designs, visit their bistro or cafe, this store has plenty to offer. Having visited other IKEA locations nationwide and internationally, I've been able to make comparisons to this Houston location. Their parking lot is huge, but since it is literally right off the highway, the way it is designed isn't the best for those who want to turn in or head out especially when the traffic hits hard. I've witnessed many near misses on the road but glad to say nothing crazy so far. Their amenities are quite nice for their members which include a daycare like playland for little ones plus free coffee during the visit in their cafe. There are also many offers throughout the store if you have an IKEA family card, giving discounts every now and then (like a birthday reward) and even specials on food items on certain days of the week (like 50% off food on Tuesdays). The layout is just like any other IKEA store in the world, with a pathway from area to area taking you through lighting and fixtures, kitchen and dining, closets and cabinets, etc. It has so much to offer and can be overwhelming. Luckily, browsing online and in store can help you narrow down what you need to get for whatever space you're trying to fill. I have bought many things from various departments inside IKEA and found a lot of what I bought a good buy in terms of quality, design, and price. I've also had a few items here and there that weren't as awesome as I thought they'd be. The crowds during the weekends can be really bad and visitors with carts may be going any direction on the pathway, so caution is needed. The checkout area can also be as chaotic, so self-checkout as much as possible! IKEA's products are typically more affordable and not as great quality as many other places...but can still appeal to many. There are several team members at your service when you need them so don't be afraid to ask for help whenever needed. All in all, a popular destination for those who are looking to spruce up a space, with no right or wrong, just what suits your taste (and wallet).
What can you really say about IKEA that's not already been said...not much. It is true that the store although extensive, is well organized. It's true that their parking lot is huge. It's true that the store is well maintained, providing many options and equally as many deals (on certain items). No longer being a dorm student, or a young couple, you'll usually find me in thrift shops when I want a deal and quality furniture, but for temporary use, DIY projects, and non essential pieces IKEA is fine. The returns and heavily discounted items room is one I wish I discovered in college, and for what it is, I appreciate it. However, no matter how good the deal is, I've struggled to 1. Find help when I need it as my lil 4'11" self cannot reach most things and 2. Have never found the patience to wait in that long line after an hour of navigating the entirety of the showroom maze to finally locate my items downstairs. Maybe it's my timing, but I've yet to have a "quick trip into IKEA" (less than 1 hour), which over the years has made me less and less inclined to go. All that being said, I'll definitely take my future kiddos, nieces and nephews when they begin their furniture journeys. IKEA is still a great spot for first time and budget buyers.
I don't know why their escalator is always broken. Tried to buy a drink downstairs but the machine wasn't working. Went upstairs to the cafeteria to buy a drink but they don't allow you a to go cup and their new glass cups are much smaller now, does not make for a friendly shopping experience when you're thirsty and trying to shop. Minus 1 star.
i know ikea is a furniture store, i've gotten some nice pieces from here, but this review is in honor of the food court's newest addition: the falafel plate. as a vegetarian who is a fan of the veggie dog at ikea, i was excited to hear about the falafel dish. it was delicious and full of flavor, for a low price of 4.99! it is nice to have more plant based options to eat! also- the gooey chocolate cake is my favorite. it reminds me of a brownie mousse like texture
We bought another ikea bent wooden chair and a cushion. We already had one and love it. Can't beat the price and how well they hold up. Some assembly was required, saw a box of chocolate that required some assembly to become a bunny rabbit...had to take a pick.
Ikea is great. We decided to make a stop here after dinner to get some steps in and general inspiration for home decor. Their products are very reasonably priced. Even if you don't make a purchase it's still a nice experience.,
It's fun to wander around and try to find the exit through the maze of living rooms and bedrooms you wish you had. Like being in Hotel California.
Pitstop at the food court for IKEA Swedish meatballs is a must! They do offer plant based and veggie meatballs as well. Staff is always friendly and super helpful throughout the entire store. As for their furniture you get what you pay for in my opinion.
Bad customer services, bad products quality..! I bought brand new and just washed with water before use and after drying up it is turn rusted very badly, I bring it back for return but they won't take it back, because I don't follow the intrusion, event talk with 2 managers and they have 1000 reasons to unresolved and unresponsive...! I will never buy anythings from IKEA, people don't waste you money here!
I love IKEA! The experience: walking through every square inch of IKEA is a stellar experience and great exercise. I do it a few times a year, and I'm always stunned by how low their prices are. Especially their napkins. When my kids go to college and need to buy furniture, hands down we're going to IKEA. The furniture: for the price, amazing. It's not the highest quality but gets the job done. Also lower quality furniture tends to be lighter in weight, so it's easier to move! Regarding the assembly instructions, I can't even put a LEGO set together, so I struggle. But an average person should have very little issue. The food: Yes, the food. It's surprisingly good. I love the meatballs, and the chicken strips and fries aren't too bad. Their regular coffee is also quite tasty. I'm not a huge fan of the decaf. If you join as a member, you can get a free cup of coffee each time you visit. Overall, please give IKEA a chance. I love them.

Just have a few things to check out? Tough! It's a love / hate relationship with IKEA. I love browsing the store and I often find things that I want or need. However, if I just want to buy a few things there is never an opportunity for a quick check out. Therefore, I end up just putting down my stuff and leaving - I hate that! Unless I am all-in on a big purchase, I don't want to stand in a punishing line 12 people deep to wait to check out. Has no one at IKEA figured this out? I'm sure they have, so if they have figured it out then it is apparent that they just don't care. That's lame and that is why I will not be back any time soon. read more
Whenever I hear people talk about IKEA, it's always these grand stories about how wonderful it is, how amazing the food court is (cheap and unbelievably good hotdogs, Swedish meatballs, etc.) how you wander around basically for hours and it's like Heaven on earth... Well, this was not the greatest experience for my FIRST EVER IKEA visit... but then again, this is during Covid times and everything seems to be a bit unusual right now. BUT, at least it was open, right? IKEA is open... not the food court or the kid area... I came with some seasoned IKEA shoppers on my maiden visit. Personally, I didn't come with a list of needed items, just figured if something jumped out at me, I could get it. I mean, I LOVE the "IKEA look." We walked around, took pics of the product tags of items we wanted. I found an awesome full length mirror for like $30 and some pillow covers for under $5 each. My friend found some floating shelves for a steal-of-a-price as well as a desk and couch she loved... Now for the kicker... this IKEA location was OUT OF EVERYTHING. The warehouse was EMPTY. Everything we wanted was OUT OF STOCK. No mirror, no desk, no shelves, no couch, no comforter which would have looked perfect in my daughter's newly painted room, no duck feather pillow inserts or the white and black pillow covers which I loved. I ended up only purchasing 2 plain black pillow covers and a plastic bag holder. Spent under $12. Hopefully this location will restock their merchandise and we can come back and have a REAL IKEA experience!! read more

IKEA is the perfect place to be inspired. With bold colors, creative layouts, and an abundance of furniture and decorative options, I always have a blast visiting. I appreciate how they change their displays often and have lots of room to walk around (as long as it's not the weekend). Their meatballs are a classic. You can never go wrong with ordering the world-renowned IKEA meatballs. They also have vegan meatballs and a vegetable platter for the health conscious or those on a special diet. read more

Horrible customer service. Paid for assembly and didn't get it. Had to go into the store to get the right parts since they sent the wrong ones. The girl I dealt with was nice, but had horrible customer service overall. They had one lane open for 34 customers and 8 guys standing around parts. Finally assembled the couch myself to find out it was defective. Went back and forth with customer service for 2 weeks to schedule a replacement delivery. Said they didn't have pictures of the part I needed even though I sent it to them multiple times. They finally realized what the part was when we went in person, but told me that it would probably get delivered at a time that I would not be home since they couldn't give me a date or time for delivery. For what we paid we received horrible product and customer service throughout our experience. The replacement part finally got delivered and was supposed to be assembled by them but I was told by the driver that he was already running late and had other deliveries to make (not my problem it's your job). When he was taking the part out he scratched our table and took off before I could take the screws and attachments off so now I need to get those parts. Called ikea again and found out assembly wasn't listed in the order when it was supposed to be. Keep in mind the order was placed in person and the order writer confirmed assembly. Every time i call I always get put through to the call center after waiting 15+ minutes just for them to tell me they don't understand. read more

I love IKEA there is nothing like using your brain while building these furniture pieces at home, its a giant puzzle with instructions. over the years I have owned numerous pieces and still own some rare discontinued furniture. walking thru these displays the living rooms, bedrooms, restrooms, kitchens etc. is amazing its set up for you to image your self in them sometimes I like to roleplay in these set ups haha! a lot of imagination when coming here and I'm constantly always changing my living space as I try to make my place look like these set ups but fail to do so and never comes out like it but its very good inspiration. the prices are affordable for furniture, household items etc. but in my opinion the furniture tends to be on the cheap side sometimes can easily brake depending how you treat your furniture but sometimes some have good quality. you have a 365 return policy if your not happy read your fine print on the receipt. the IKEA restaurant on the other hand Is a whole other department and its probably my favorite, you cant get enough of those Swedish meatballs and sweet sauce to complement it huh?. IKEA even sells them frozen to take home. over time I have eaten the Swedish meatballs, salmon balls, veggie balls, chicken balls and they are all delicious. the vegetables and other sides they serve are really good and go well, and the desserts are always good. come hungry and come wearing your walking shoes here. read more

Buying a new home, or a couch, or a shelf, IKEA is a sure choice, has always been. The options they carry, the price range, the quality range, convenience of it all in one place - i do love it. Ikea is like a day trip, first of all its in Katy, which, technically is not very far from were we live, but passing the gallaria exit to go to or come from ikea takes out all the energy you started with, but thats not ikea's fault though right.. Was juggling between 3 or 4 star rating, because of the above points and the fact that next time I want a couch, or a shower curtain, or even some unique toys, or organizers, I will definitely drop by IKEA, I decided on 4 stars. So, what don't I like - the service. While some of the agents are very helpful, the others are quite the opposite. Atleast, the last two times I went, I could not spot any agent who could help us find some caddies. I went department to department looking for one, and guess what, when I finally found one, he said that it was not his department so he wasn't sure. Secondly the food - Ordered a garlic toast and quinoa salad- the garlic bread neither spelled or tasted like garlic, and was not even warm. The salad was pretty ok, but could have done with some salt. The low fat ice cream is one thing I don't want to miss when I come here, and the last time was busy finding the car keys and missed by a minute to 9 and the lady would not even look at you- she bluntly said "we are closed". Oh, btw, I recently found out that they have a lost and found section, which you need to come out of the store and climb some stairs.....whoever said finding something you lost was easy!, but, they do have this section, and if u did loose something u jus gotto pray some1 handed it to the agent, who then went through the maze to turn it in, so you can find it when you go there yourself. A must visit for the stuff they carry. They do have delivery for a charge. read more

This is a big store with a great selection. There are inexpensive items perfect for a dorm room, plus other items that any household would appreciate. How they do their room decorations is commendable. They show, Room after room, what your own room would look like, according to the sq. ft. displayed. The prices here are very reasonable. There is adequate parking. I must mention that we measured a bookcase that we needed that was a perfect fit to 1/8 of an inch. It didn't fit and they admitted the catalog was incorrect. They made it right by sending one of their craftsmen to our home to cut it down to the right size. read more
- Very little customer service available - Extremely long checkout lines - no matter how much you spend they do not provide bags for you to carry your items out. You have to push them out the store in your basket and just placed them in your trunk. - You can easily get stuck walking in the store forever without ever knowing when the exit is coming. I got lost in here on a couple of occasions. If you see people who know their way around, don't be fooled. Those people are their everyday lol. - You're going to get hungry while you're here and the food that's available at they're restaurant is gross, trust me. - You need to invest in some tools to put everything together because some of the things don't even come with what is needed to install it or build it. - They have some decent stuff if you know how to put it together yourself. read more

BUYER BEWARE: I'd highly recommend checking out their social media reviews. There are tens of thousands of customers awaiting orders. IKEA's phone lines are not being answered and only cancelation emails are being responded to. We placed our order back in June and intended to receive the 1st week of August. Like most customers, we received the date with a 12 hour delivery window and the notice our items were "being prepared". We waited on the date of delivery and never heard anything from Ikea, are unable to reach them, and are currently paying interest on the purchase. If we didn't already have begin a renovation using their products, I wouldn't have considered placing an order. We're just blessed to not be one of the customers awaiting the necessities; couches, beds, cribs for babies who have already arrived... Perhaps this review will give pause to someone contemplating such a purchase. * Houston in store shoppers, be careful using IKEA shopping carts. I would not advise putting children inside them. Our cart tipped over with our 2 year old inside. Our daughter was injured and my husband sustained a permanent knee injury as he tried to catch the cart with his leg. read more
IKEA is an experience in furniture shopping that is unmatched in most peoples lives. It's big .... it's really big. The best way to navigate. that place is to treat it like terminal C at bush international airport. Look at the signs, find out where you are and go in the direction indicated for the section you want. There are perhaps 16 to 20 different sections specializing in various aspects of home decor. If want you to go from one section to another is not as straightforward as the airport. I got lost going from section 3 to section 4. The sections are chopped up with walls and doors placed between many sections so you might have to work a little bit, but the experience gives you a better sense of a room rather than a warehouse. if you're truly looking for multiple things you might be there a while, so luckily there's an adjacent IKEA restaurant for you to sit down have a cafeteria style meal and get back at it once your strength is back up. read more

My first visit to Ikea in Houston, and as soon you walked in, you can't tell which city or location you walked in. This location also has a vast parking lot, and since it's next to the freeway, you have more choices to enter the parking lot. There was a security guard making circles in the parking lot, which is good. Houston is a vast city, and things can happen no matter where you are. I took the stairs to the second floor because today I was only looking for a duvet cover which is downstairs with kitchen stuff but upstairs, you can see these covers on display too. It's hard not to stop a few times till you get what you want to buy, and that's the magic of Ikea display areas. A person who was working next to the mattress area was very kind and helpful. After checking displays, I took the elevator and started putting stuff in my shopping cart. It's hard to control yourself to buy the things you only came for, so of course, I purchased few bowls and few kitchen gadgets. Lines we're going fast, oh you have to pack yourself your stuff after paying so if you have a long list bring help with you. They don't provide bags, so either bring your bags or buy them at the cash register. Overall it's good and affordable, and I found great cotton duvet covers at a great price. read more
IKEA reminds me of Costco! There's always a large crowd, parking lot is big & full, and you're bumping into people everywhere inside the store. This IKEA is two stories, has a kids play area and restaurant/cafe. As soon as you come through the entrance, you'll see the escalator and elevator, kids running around the play area and colorful decor all over the walls. It can be quite overwhelming for a first-timer there, but there are plenty of signs and maps. The "showrooms" consist of furniture laid out by sections of a house, for example- living room, kitchen, bedroom, etc. Walking through the showrooms, you'll encounter many customers just sitting on the furnitures and hanging out like they're trying on before purchasing. While a fun experience, their selections were somewhat limited, in my opinion. The pieces they had were simple and affordable. Would recommend that they have more staff members walking around; it was almost impossible finding an employee for questions. read more
