Do not buy white kitchen cabinets from IKEA. When they turn yellow they will not stand behind their product even when they know it's an issue. Google "IKEA Kitchen Cabinets Turning Yellow" and you will see a plethora of people who all have the same issue. Their response is that you're SOL, "Your email was forwarded to our Corporate office. We regret to inform that as per the care instructions included with the AKURUM warranty, yellowing is not considered a warranty related issue." If we wanted yellow cabinets then we would have ordered yellow cabinets. This is an embarrassment. My mother wanted to get another piece of furniture, a night stand for one of the rooms, I figure, why not.. I'll join her for the ride. She figured this spot would not be as expensive as an Ashley's or a Raymour , well she was right. My first time in here and I never knew how lazy the workers could be. I need a job like this I thought, don't help just point and get paid. ( minus the yellow and blue stripped uniforms) Gotta love arrows pointing you in the direction you need to walk. What would happen if you started going the other way..team Sweden would get pissed you are going against the grain. We finally found the right area to go to, saw what she wanted, now its time to find a worker. Found a worker, had asked for this piece and he goes and hands me a piece of paper to write down the model #, stock # price, and what aisle it is in. Ok I comply this is something new to me, I am doing his job. I go and do what they ask, return it to the attendant and he looks it up.. yes we have it. He then instructs us to go downstairs to the warehouse and pick it up ourselves. Are you kidding me, what kind of system is this, what is your job here cause clearly you are making way too much. We now are downstairs in their warehouse looking for the right aisle, number and pray to god this isn't heavy. Now I am glad I chose to go with my mom, she would have never have lifted this or have found it. Now that we did 2/3 of their job it is time to pay, what a surprise another lazy cashier. She didn't bother to help people with the items in their carts, help to place it on the counter to get scanned, nor did she help the customer afterward. There are few places as divisive as IKEA. Some people swear by them. Others abhor them. Personally, I'm not a fan of their "you have to wander through our entire 47-mile long journey of particleboard before you can exit" business model. It led to this weekend's visit taking over an hour despite the fact that our family entered the store knowing exactly what item we wanted and didn't do any additional shopping. In spite of that, I can't fault this store for IKEA's corporate design, but I can fault them for the employees, who were too few and too disinterested in assisting customers. Even the employees in the cafe were more involved in their conversations with one another than they were with interacting with customers or maintaining/cleaning the area as evidenced by the state of the dining area and their lingonberry sparkle dispenser spitting out nothing but seltzer water. Personally I try to avoid purchasing things from IKEA as I find their products to be simply Walmart quality with better marketing and poorer instructions, but if you absolutely need that Gefüntlichmåchen nightstand, I'd suggest using a different location. read more

It has been a while since my last visit to any Ikea, and after spending two plus hours in their Conshohockon maze, I remember why I stopped shopping there. Their warehouses are enormous, and there is so much stuff to look at that it can be overwhelming. But, the kicker comes when you have had enough browsing, decided not to purchase anything in order to consider the possibilities, and try to leave the premises. It is then you realize that you are lost somewhere on the second floor and don't remember how you got to the office furniture area. The signs say the check-out and exit is "that way," but that just leads you through every other department in the hanger, past the cafeteria, down the only flight of stairs, and through a second maze on the first floor. The maps sparsely displayed look like a game of Candyland or Chutes and Ladders, with little dots meandering through every corner of the building. It was at least 10 minutes before I reached the cashiers and saw the exit doors beyond them. Someone with claustrophobia could easily panic before reaching fresh air. Yes. I did see some desks, bookcases and lighting that might work well in the new office, but not as much as I had hoped. Prices were good, but I had the definite feeling that I would be settling for things based on limited choices, rather than true love of the furniture. And, by the time I made it out of the warehouse, I had little desire to go back in. Make it easier to escape and I would have no problem going back in smaller doses to explore and find what I want. Great place for so many home things - really they have sooooo much here. It's not just furniture. Plan to spend at least an hour just browsing. I like coming here for inspiration, the styles, layouts, room decor and designs - it's neat to see it all. You gotta stop and visit the "as-is"room on the lower level to find some good deals on items. And grab a $1 ice cream cone while you're at it! If you come during the week, during the day it's usually calm and not crowded. Weekends can get very busy. They have a huge cafeteria with great prices on lunch and breakfast. And pretty yummy. There's no reason not to become a free ikea family member - it gives you discounts on merch and food. And you can always grab a free coffee or tea any-day anytime. The fav part for our kids is getting dropped off in their free supervised kids play area called Smaland. It's on the first floor when you come in the main entrance. Lots of people come to Ikea for the furniture but I usually come for the food. Their dining area is clean, comfortable and has big window walls making the whole area very bright. You get the food like how you would at a school cafeteria, wait in line, get a tray and order your food to the servers. Afterwards you would go up to the cashier to pay. * if you have a Ikea family card you get free coffee or tea!! It's really easy to sign up for one, they have machines around for you to sign up. Their breakfast is affordable ($2 for a plate of eggs, sausage, potatoes and Swedish pancake). The breakfast food isn't the best quality tho, it's like the breakfast you would have at regular hotels. Still good but eggs aren't fresh eggs and the sausage is kinda dry, however for $2 it's pretty worth the money. Their lunch is a whole different story, the food is fresh and delicious. The price again is affordable ( have the menu attached so check it out if you're interested!) There are many different options but you can't go wrong with their famous Swedish meatballs (beef and pork). It's $5.99 and comes with mashed potatoes, veggies, gravy and their delicious lingnoberry sauce. You can also buy their meatballs home too! I purchased a bed on 6/9/19 the bracket that holds the leg to the bed frame snapped on 6/22/19. I called customer service as soon as they opened at 9 AM, the first time I called they transferred me to a queue with no one in it which hung up on me. This again happened the second time I called, the third time I was transferred to 3 different people and then hung up on again. The 4th-9th times I called I was directed to the queue and hung up on. The 10th time I called I asked to speak to a manager, I was given an attitude and then transferred to "a non working number". I was calling from 9AM to 11AM and still never spoke to anyone who could help me. I finally had to drive to the actual store and they said these must have been defective and they replaced them with ones for a queen size bed(we purchased a King), this was after spending 30 minutes in store going back and forth and waiting for customer service. If I didn't spend 4 hours putting this deathtrap together I would have returned it. I will never purchase another Ikea item ever again. read more

We never got an email confirmation so 3 days later we called and were told no order existed. Turns out they had "difficulties"with their black friday coupon which, erased all orders. So we made another order, fine, delivery was this past weekend.. it never came. I called today and was told our order was blocked due to partial payment when, in fact, my card was charged the full amount. Now we cant get delivery until after Christmas due to more "difficulties". IKEA is awesome and very iconic. Located in Conshohocken, it's literally a giant labyrinth. For those who are unaware, IKEA is a Scandinavian chain selling ready-to-assemble furniture, plus housewares, in a warehouse-like space. One thing I like about IKEA is it's relatively straightforward you just follow the path through the store through the different sections while making notes about the products you want to buy until you end up at the checkout. It is here you can pick the products you want in a warehouse setting and they have this flat cart to carry the products as you checkout and you take them to your car. 3 years ago in 2016 I bought a few bookshelves that I assembled myself to keep my video games and movies on (which is personally a proud accomplishment to this day given the "if you can assemble something from IKEA you can do anything" memes). Our kitchen project was at times so frustrating, exciting, and absolutely awesome in the end. The getting there at times was rough. Let's start with the fact that we have been first generation IKEA fans since the first store opened in Plymouth Meeting when I was a child. When we visited their kitchen department several times over the past 10 years, we knew one day, we would have our dream kitchen. The highest rated cabinets in the most recent testing by a leading consumer advocacy group (you know the one), with all of the bells and whistles built in, and bones that will last for years with the ability to swap out the look as you see fit without losing any of the structure. Don't ever let anyone in the trades or not, tell you that IKEA kitchens are second class. They are a premium product and are not the cheapest around. If you want cheap, there are several places to get that. The in store design process was good, if not rushed. With a kitchen of our size, I would assume more than the allotment of time. Steve was patient with us and even showed us how to navigate the planning tool on our own. He encouraged it. The only changes we made from Steve's original plan was the island which went through several changes over the COVID-19 lockdown month. We do not regret it at all. We made one final stop in at night before the lockdown to finallize the plan. They all said, when it comes to an order of this size, we should do the order in store. We took their advice, then the state was locked down. When the store finally reopened, we went in to find nothing but stock shortages and someone willing to change our design to match what might be in stock. We were having none of that. What I don't understand is why IKEA, knowing things would be in stock one day, would NOT let us order everything to deliver at a later date when it was in stock. So with a little research, we ended up doing the order in pieces. Half-online ourselves, and half at stores throughout PA and NJ to pick pickup the various pieces that were in stock. And the help of an app that does nothing but notify you when specific IKEA location "click and collect" slots are open. And why aren't your Philadelphia area stores offering click and collect at the moment? Why force people inside during the pandemic? So much for the promotional 2 year financing at 0% for the order. With half of it done online, we got that promotion, the other half was paid out of pocket and sweat. We kept hearing along the way that IKEA wants its customers to be involved with the process... My response... Your original customers are aging and still love your products. Partner with local GCs or PMs or provide a premium service that allows us to do nothing but pay for and get your product installed. Once we went down this path, no matter how much we were advised against it by others, we were committed. But all the driving around, paying for apps, and lifting and moving product... Not what I want at this moment. no time really. I would have gladly paid a premium for premium service. Unfortunately there are not enough local GCs that believe in your product for us to have contracted with one. In the end, we love our kitchen. Would I do it again? There were times that the answer was no. But again, then it wouldn't have been our dream kitchen. read more

Each year, this rare reward is given to the one entity that has provided the worst service/experience during the past 12 months. Your online service has been so exceptionally bad, I've decided to reward it to you 6 months before the actual end of the year. This review is for the corporate office for the online website, and this is the Yelp page for the closest store to the headquarters. It's not me or the scores of people complaining every day about your non-existent customer support. It's you. There are mountains of complaints on your FB page during the past year, and you're pretty much ignoring them. For 9 hours, I haven't been able to reach you on your customer support line, your email, your twitter, your non-existent chat, or your FB page at all. Your website says replies within 48-72 hours (which is already unacceptable for an online shopping site), though others on Reddit and FB report not hearing back in weeks, which is just unbelievable. We're being ghosted. By the time your phone line was working, there was a reported 120 minute wait but only 60 minutes left on the support line before it closed for the day. You've been doing this every day. That's a scam. How does a large corporation like you even get away with not having any customer support? If you want to ghost your customers this badly, then you can continue being dead to us. Update: It only took 20 phone calls (I gave up after 3 days), 5 emails, and 80 hours of waiting before I finally reached someone. It wasn't someone in customer support (it's impossible to reach anyone there) but someone in tech support (I guess that means tech support ticket queue isn't weeks/months long). Apparently, they're aware their whole online system is trash, so they're scrapping and replacing it. Unfortunately, they're still months away from the new online system, so everyone's stuck in customer support hell. That's just not acceptable. read more

We had been given an Ikea book shelf some time in the past from a friend it lacked the needed screws and hardware needed to put it back together. On Thursdays Ikea has a special - mashed potatoes and chicken for $2.99 and we decided to check it out. I didn't expect much but for a cafeteria style meal it was surprisingly really delicious! I got a succulent breast that was perfectly roasted with golden skin and juicy white meat - the potatoes are probably instant but they still taste pretty darn good. I also got a side of mixed veggies that was a huge potion and very tasty as well. There is no leaving without some delicious Ikea coffee - rich and bold and hot - love it! We found out that you can get free coffee if you sign up for the (free) Ikea Family card. We both got dessert - one chocolate overload cake and one almond chocolate butterscotch (my favorite) and both were rich and delicious. Of course the catch with eating so inexpensively is that I am in this giant store I love and the temptation to go fill up a cart with things I really don't need like some new farfennuggin picture frames and haagan daz wine glasses is strong - but with hubby along this time he managed to point out how much we really don't need these items and I escaped with just a new set of sheets and a good dinner. Ordering from Ikea Online is a nightmare. If you must order an Ikea product, go to the store and only take what they have in stock. Our nightmare began when we received an email saying our delivery was canceled. Then we find out it was a poorly worded email and it was only to be rescheduled. Then two #1 boxes showed up, and the Kallax Shelf Unit is supposed to come with two different boxes. Then an Ikea rep lied to us and said he'd Fedex the correct box. We wait a week to find out Ikea won't Fedex large items, and had to wait another 10 days for redelivery. Ikea rep tells us whoever delivers the new one will pick up the old one, however we have to break down the part from box 1 we already built because instead of just bringing us one box #2, they have to deliver both boxes again and we have to return the originals. Courier HCI delivery shows up and they don't have an order to pick up the original. Get on phone with supervisor and there is much bureaucratic red tape, where Courier HCI doesn't even talk with Ikea, they speak to another 3rd party, so they refuse to pick up the boxes. So now we have to schedule another 4 hour window for Ikea to pick up the boxes. Trust me, you don't want this nightmare. Most times my wife an I called in, we'd either not get through or be placed on hold for 40 mins and get a totally useless rep. It's not worth it just for the Kallax Shelf Unit or any other Ikea products. Try Wayfair (which we had a great experience with, 2 deliveries actually came early) or elsewhere. read more

I think its unfair to have to assign STARS to IKEA because the experience is never bad. AND, the experience is never great. The experience is just IKEA. Sometimes the place can be overly annoying because of the "trapped rat" feeling of never being able to exit quickly. Sometimes I know where something is and want to run in and grab it. I am like a trained soldier in that I can arrive at the spot I want to and I find a short way down to the checkout only to find I was wrong and I now have to do the entire exit circuit . LOL Other times I exit quickly and the lines are enormously long and I have only one item. Why don't they have express lines? With that said... I have a 21 year old and there is no better place to purchase hip, inexpensive things for her shared apartment. I just paid .69 for coffee cups she loves. Also, cheap curtains. While it's true that coming here on a Saturday borders on insanity, I live within twenty minutes, so I can visit this IKEA HQ whenever I want to! And I do return on many an occasion. IKEA has been my happy place since I was a kid and my mom would drop me off to hang out in the kid's area while she shopped. Now that I'm too tall to join the ballpit, I spend my time here perusing the feng shui rooms and checking out every new item in the warehouse. My first stop is always the As-Is section, just in case that thing I came for has a floor-model or gently-used version for 50% off. In 2008, we redid our entire kitchen with IKEA cabinets and it looks amazing. We ended up using the contractor the store recommended (Chuck), and he was incredibly helpful both for the beginning process of design through the finishing touches. To this day, everything is in beautiful shape. The drawers shut quietly and with the slightest touch. The pantry with mobile shelves is an engineering marvel. I'm currently eyeing a beautiful couch but I have to sell my only slightly old Raymour & Flanigan model first. There are so many reasons to choose IKEA over R&F and other furniture stores, but the top reason is the freedom to shop without being swarmed by overeager salespeople. Additionally, I've noticed that the fabric on IKEA furniture is very natural feeling, it never has that chemical off-gas feeling of upholstered furniture from other stores. read more

New into town, and what a terrible welcome from IKEA. We went into this location and purchased a table, we then to the warehouse and grabbed our packages and left. When we got home, it turns out that Package 1, did not match Package 2. This is a good learning not to assume in the future, although not sure if it's the customer's responsibility to do this. There are no direct numbers to the IKEA locations. We called the 1-888 number and the automated system simply advised us that it was dealing with higher than normal call volume, and hung up. How is this customer friendly? We then returned the following day to exchange the legs. We live approximately 15 miles away, so it was a 30-40 minute drive. We only brought the legs, not the table top, as it is pretty big. The customer service rep simply refused to do the return, stating that we need both pieces and that us grabbing the wrong legs is on us. There was "nothing" that he could do for us. The engaged a Manager and she allowed us to refund the table legs, and purchased the new ones and paying for the difference - which I'm ok with, this is logical. Please empower your team members to make decisions. This was a simple miss that we were ok with until your service member turned what seems like an operational miss on IKEA's fault, into our fault, and then refusing to make it right until leadership got involved. I've been to a dozen or so Ikea locations up and down the east coast. One thing is for sure, one is not better than the rest. They all offer the same stock, are about the same size, and have the same set up - displays upstairs, inventory downstairs. In the 20 + years I've been a customer it's been a love/hate affair. LOVE the displays providing room design ideas, the multiple ways they use the same pieces, and the fact that you can see and feel how each piece functions. Love the options and choices. Love the prices and abundance of inventory, the way things are packed to make transporting home in a car easy. Love that they also have Swedish food to eat there or take home prepackaged. HATE the return process (if you can even get them to take something back), the hunt for the merchandise on your list, the complex assembly with limited instructions. Hate the poor quality and the fact that inventory and parts change often and chances are if something breaks you can't get replacement parts. Hate the long lines that are present at every location, the lack of help loading. Hate that you have to buy their bag if you want your items bagged. One thing I have discovered is even if you scour the catalog for days on end, make a list and check it twice once you get to the store all will change. You'll see a piece in a display different from the catalog and fall in love, or the opposite - you'll see the piece you came for and the display isn't how you envisioned. Either way sometimes too many choices equal too much frustration. This coming from a woman that once packed up my car, measured the space remaining, and went back and purchased more. That drove home two hours down the turnpike smack dab against the windshield because the driver's seat held not only myself but a box. Or that I once loaded my car so full I couldn't even see my children. Yes, all this has happened and happens all the time. If you want a good comical reality experience just sit in the parking lot and watch people load for a few hours.... Overall as I aged so did my style. While the catalog and displays are nice, rarely if ever does that same piece look like that in my own home. My daughter's bedroom was entirely Ikea and in less than a year we had to do multiple repairs on our own. Drawer bottoms are week, side rails are plastic, beds and dressers are no more than particleboard wrapped in a laminate skin. Wheels on trundle beds are undersized and the design faulty. What works for the Swedes unfortunately doesn't work for American children. As a middle aged woman I now come for the inspiration. For ideas that I can take home and rework with more structurally sound pieces. I come for the accessories, the candles in bulk, and the furniture pieces that are inexpensive and will only get occasional use. I come for the unique - things that can only be found at Ikea. For a day browsing with girlfriends or killing time in a vacation location. So this love affair for the most part is over, or maybe just categorized to friends with benefits. read more

Dear IKEA, It has been 2 1/2 months since my order was supposed to be delivered. I had to email the CEO before you would even respond to my issue. Now it has been 3 weeks since I spoke to him and you still have not resolved the issue. I have been trying to get through to customer service for 4 days. The phone prompts take you through a lot of options only to tell you they CAN'T TAKE YOUR CALL! They do NOT have an email option so my only option left is to GO TO THE STORE! This is ridiculous!! I waited a month for delivery of my items and then didn't receive the cover for a furniture item I purchased so now I have to go to the store. Unbelievable. read more

My family and I always been buying our house equipment and mostly everything there. But I don't care much about the equipments as long it's good. Every time I go to Ikea I must have there meat balls and there mash potatoes it's like a must have food for me. Or the visit there is not complete. read more

I mean, ikea stores pretty much all the same. The food at this one might have been a little above the quality of the food at some of the others... But it's the same deals. I did notice at this one they had an espresso machine not just coffee. That is impressive. I feel like the as a selection at this store happens to be less interesting than that of the store I usually go to in South Philly. I'm not quite sure why that would be... A lot of what I buy from the address Department is floor models. Obviously every Ikea has the same floor models, but maybe they do not turn them over at the same time? I've never lived close enough to an IKEA to truly shop there until now, but of course COvID has their supply lines in a bundle these days. I walked through their spotless showroom, spoke with their extremely helpful agents, only to find the warehouse empty and lacking the furniture we had so excitedly picked out. It was disappointing to say the least. After visiting a few other stores we wandered back to IKEA and revisited our approach. We were able to find some nice pieces, but the initial excitement about IKEA did wear off. read more

Last Saturday April 7th, 2018, I went to IKEA in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and purchased two items including delivery and assembly. I was assured delivery would occur on 4/13/18 within a four hour window. On 4/12/18, I received a confirmation call to which I confirmed the delivery between 11am and 3pm on 4/13/18. At 3pm, having not received the items or even a phone call, I reached out to the delivery service. After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, a woman answered and said she'd transfer me to someone who could help. This transfer was to IKEA Customer Service. Another 30 minutes of waiting on hold and a woman told me my order would need to be rescheduled and that the particular IKEA I shopped at would need to be contacted, although they were apparently unable to be reached. At this point I asked to speak with a supervisor. Another wait on hold and finally a supervisor picked up. She reiterated that the local store would need to be spoken to and that they were currently unreachable. It was 4:30pm at this point. The supervisor said she'd call me back by 6:30pm when her shift ended to update me. 6:30pm came and went with no phone call and another expectation set and missed by IKEA. I can't believe how unbelievably poor this experience has been from start to finish. First and most importantly, I don't have items that were critical to my move so that I can work on Monday morning. Second, I took a day off of work to receive these items and sat at home between 11am and 3pm, which was at a cost to me. To top all of this off, the horrific customer service experience with multiple agents being unable to rectify this absolutely abysmal situation is just plain unacceptable. read more

You can think whatever you want about ikea but i have NO complaints. Affordable yet stylish and tons of useful stuff. I always get my shower curtain liners here (super cheap and lasts!), tealights (super cheap for a 100 pack), little potted plants ($1!!!!) and picture frames (great gifts). Service here is friendly and helpful just like all ikeas (right?). And it's never overcrowded so it's a nice shopping experience. And you can always afford a treat after shopping...$1 soft serve (vanilla, chocolate or mixed) or cinnamon buns and 50 cent hot dogs. All prices include tax! read more

This IKEA does not open at 9:30, the restaurant does. So much for getting in and out. Thought I'd relax with a cappuccino while I waited. I was the first customer and the machine was out of milk so I had to get my money back. I would have come at 10 if I knew. read more
