The experience could have been better but unfortunately it was not the case. As far as customer service, they definitely need to do better. I approach the self service register after only two lanes of about seven registers. There was a line and a wait. So, when I got up to the register, I thought I was getting something at the sale price of 2.99. When it didn't ring up, the youn lady told me I could join for free. She went on to say, there is generally a QR code to just sign up instantly, but unfortunately this registers' QR code was removed. She suggested I just go to a website to register, but I declined because of the line in behind me. When I realized she had not taking off the item I didnt want. I had to get in another line and wait to be called to have the money refund. The worse experience

Having visited IKEA locations in Ireland and Sweden, I've seen how they take the concept so seriously over there--it's an entire cultural experience. Here, we tend to treat it more like a giant showroom with free babysitting and a cafeteria, but the value is still hard to beat. I had a great run during my most recent trip. The deals were everywhere! I picked up a summer-weight duvet along with a new cover and shams to refresh the bedroom. I also found a stunning set of gold-toned serving flatware -- they have that sleek, high-end look without the boutique price tag. A few highlights and "hiccups" from this visit: The Food & Drink:I tried the fish balls with mashed potatoes for lunch, and they were actually pretty tasty. I also noticed an older gentleman sitting completely alone, casually drinking glasses of what appeared to be wine. Many IKEA locations with a restaurant license do serve beer and wine, and honestly, he had the right idea. Of course, I couldn't leave without hitting the food market for those specific cookies and foreign candies you just can't find anywhere else. The Atmosphere: At one point, navigating the floor felt a bit like an escape room. While the staff seems nice enough, they aren't exactly eager to help--you really have to run them down to get an answer. The Warehouse:I'm honestly not a fan of the self-service furniture selection policy. The whole warehouse environment is pretty intimidating when you're trying to track down boxes. The Strategy:Since I'm lucky enough to live only 25 minutes away I've realized I need to stop coming here like it's a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage. If I visited more often, I probably wouldn't feel the need to drop $200 every time! Overall, it's a solid four-star experience for the unique finds and the reliable "Swedish-lite" atmosphere, even if you have to do some of the heavy lifting yourself.

Lunch at IKEA in Charlotte NC. Everything on this tray $8.99!

We were on a shopping mission and had lunch at IKEA also. There is always a large selection of large furniture and small items. Somehow always come away with some kind of kitchen utensil. I thought there was an error on the lunch receipt. If I lived closer I'd go for more meals!

Very nice IKEA. Super clean but organized like a standard IKEA. Two floors with very large elevators and an escalator in the front lobby. Like always, as soon as we get there we head to the restaurant. I always get the same thing, Swedish Meatballs. Can't beat how good they are. My grandkids love them too. My son had a Caesar salad which he said was very good and fresh, and my husband had a chicken thigh with black beans and rice and fried plantains. (We were very surprised to see a meal that you would normally see in a Florida IKEA up here in Charlotte North Carolina. I have to admit it tasted very good.) We hit the bathrooms afterwards, spotlessly clean considering how busy it was, and then we went shopping. I will say that there was quite a few open and empty spaces on the second floor in the furniture department. I'm not sure if they were re-organizing or had literally sold out after the holidays. Good thing though, we found what we were looking for things to the help of workers who know the place better than we do and advised us which shortcuts to use. All the workers we spoke to were super friendly and helpful. The value was good as always, IKEA might be slightly higher priced than other places but I have a few pieces in my house that are almost 30 years old and still in excellent condition. It was easier to get here than we thought and we really enjoyed our day here. We can't wait to go back.

Tis the season.... For returns!

First time experience in the CLT store. Quite impressed. I had to return some shelves & decided to hang around & shop & get some lunch. Great cafeteria up stairs with a nice second floor view through large glass window pane. I had the Swedish meatball special that comes with mashed potatoes and peas, it was excellent! They were a mix of pork and beef and very tasty. There's also and small bistro down stairs where you can order/pay for hot dogs and small hand-held on their kiosk. If you've never been to one of these stores, I would recommend going to their website and getting familiar with what you're interested in FIRST. They want you to go through EVERY department and SEE everything first. If you've got the time, go for it. Most people want to get eyes on their product, make a decision, buy and get going. It's very easy to purchase on their website and pick-up the product on the curb. You also have the option of going inside for pick-up. I would def encourage you to check out the 'As Is' department which is near the exit and where you pay. Returns are easy, just have your order number or receipt. There is no need to START a return on their web site as they suggest, it doesn't expedite the process at all. I was very disappointed at the attitude of some of the employees, especially in the upstairs serving line. Woman didn't want to be there and it clearly showed, she was miserable and want you to be too. IF you have a lot of stuff or want to pick-up your on-line order at the CURB they have someone there to help you load into the vehicle. There will be a lot of products by brands you have NEVER heard of. They are from all over Europe. I especially like they way they solicit shopper feed back. At every transaction point and almost every step, they are asking you to rate them. This place will give Bezos some competition.

You shouldn't have a problem finding parking. This place is massive. Plan on wearing comfortable walking shoes. Follow the arrows on the floor to help navigate you through the store. The store has countless affordable items for your home. Many don't require assembly so grab a cart. I recommend taking pictures of the items you would like to get before you head down to the warehouse portion on the lower level to retrieve the items you can't grab from the floor (furniture). The restaurant is the real treat in the store. The Swedish food is reasonable and delicious. They also have a smaller snack food area near checkout. I like IKEA. I like the prices and the modern appearance of their goods. You can spend a great deal of time in here and make sure you have ample room in your truck/van/car to carry your goods home.

Swedish meatballs. My wife has to have these every time we visit. They put a flag for every four you bought.

I only gave the store four stars, but we like what they offer and will be coming back. The reason for the four stars is that they make it impossible to get out of the store without having to go through so much of it. We tend to have lots of parties and don't like plastic for alcoholic drinks, so we buy all of our wine, martini, and other types of glasses here that we use for parties. We're not worried if they get broken (which they do) since replacements are easy and inexpensive. They also have a lot of other cool things, such as their organization stuff and kitchen gadgets (I love gadgets). However, this trip got me a bit annoyed with the store. The first thing we did was grab a box of red wine goblets. We took all of the shortcuts we could find to get to the checkout, but we still went through so much of the store. After our purchase, we went upstairs to eat in the cafeteria. My wife always has to get the Swedish meatballs when we visit, and since we were both hungry, I ordered 16 of them. We'll be back next time we go to Charlotte. I saw a cool giant wooden spoon I need

Who doesn't love ikea! After a terrible experience with a restaurant that we waited almost 2hrs for food that we never received. We were hungry and decided to stop in to ikea to get some food since their food was half off on Friday! We wanted something quick and fast and ikea delivered. The staff were so friendly, the cafeteria and dining areas are always clean. We got to the dining area got our trays, our dessert and food. And bam! We sat and ate our food, it was yummy and we were full! We didn't come to do any shopping this trip, but really enjoyed our meal at a awesome price. I got the Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, the bean mix, Texas toast and a cheesecake. All for about 13 bucks! This also included a fountain drink. Ikea never disappoints!

Massive. IKEA is always fun to go to but then you're quickly reminded how huge this store really is and how much time you'll actually need to spend there to make your rounds of rooms and products. For the most part, the selection they have is solid and while some things reasonable, less desirable looking items are expensive. A billion rooms to go through but they set it up well enough to go in a specific direction (if you want), to make the most out of your time and viewing. The showrooms are all staged well and give you lots of ideas and labeled very well (so you don't have to look for price/description) of item. The bottom floor with the separate products can be a cluster, but I'd attribute that more towards the customers that pick up everything and put them out of place. Plenty of lines but still long lines to wait. Overall, a good place to view/buy home goods if you want to spend half a day there.

I used to really like ikea but these days it just isn't worth the hassle. They are no longer the cheapest place to get most things and alternatives to their furniture can be found for better quality and prices on wayfair, shipped direct to your house. IKEA has also become way more annoying to actually buy from. It's weird to say, but the areas where they've replaced "get your own" with assistance are actually dramatically worse than before. Now, buying a larger item (closets for example) requires you to get assistance from a person at least twice but still requires you to do all the work of figuring out what you need beforehand. Now you have to have a person put it into an order form for you which you then have to scan and pay for - only then can you take it to yet another person who will scan it again. At this point you go into a queue to wait for someone to bring you your stuff which can be a seriously long wait even if no one is ahead of you. After all that, you're back to having to deal with the stuff yourself (man handling it outside and loading it yourself). On top of that, while you now have to deal with at least two new people in buying a Pax, they removed all the cashiers so you have to do checkout for yourself which is annoying when a Karen in front of you can't figure out how to scan the boxes up couch she bought. Like I said, it's no longer worth the hassle.

Much better at selling cheap 3rd world made furniture than providing any decent level of customer service.

They will scam you out of your money!…read more What I do not understand is the contradictory information I have received. You informed me that the item was donated and even identified where it was supposedly donated. However, when I contacted that organization, I was told they never received my furniture. That raises a very legitimate question: if the item was not received by the organization you identified, what actually happened to it? At this point, I am looking for transparency and documentation. If the item was donated, please provide proof of the donation, including the date and recipient. If it was not donated, then please explain where it went.Your response focuses heavily on the contract, but it does not address the discrepancy regarding the item's final disposition. As a customer, I have every right to question why the information I was given does not appear to be accurate. From my perspective, being told an item was donated to a specific place when that place states they never received it creates serious concerns. I hope you can understand why that would lead me to question whether the item was actually donated, sold, or otherwise disposed of in a manner different from what I was told. I would appreciate a factual explanation and supporting documentation rather than further personal accusations about whose fault this is.
