I like Ikea. I grew up overseas so this just brings back a small memory of being over there. We typically eat lunch before we start shopping the food is okay, it's not bad but nothing special either. I will say since the pandemic is going on that their supply is very short with high demand. A lot of items are out of stock or they sell out very quickly per conversation with the staff. Overall I still like this place and I love all the small little knick knacks all over the store and my husband absolutely loves putting all the furniture together and does it very well. This IKEA is absolutely massive. However, the main issue here is service. Service: We walked through the store for over an hour, just looking through their various room and kitchen displays. I ended up just wanting to buy a picture frame, but when we got to the checkout area, we were met with only three registers open with a line of nearly 15-20 people for each one. It amazes me that there is no self checkout or express lane for people who only need to buy a few items. Why should I wait for over 30 minutes to buy just one picture frame? I ended up leaving it and walking out of the checkout section due to the insane wait times. At the end we wanted to get some of their food items, they have a large food section past the main checkout area. However, we were met with empty freezers... seemingly more than half of the food they normally stock was absent. On top of that, we met the same issue with buying any food items- only one worker who was in charge of both checking people out in the food section AND getting people's food orders at the mini cafe. Why is there only one person working the entire section? Again, we were faced with waiting in a 20 person line just to buy one or two food items, so we chose to leave without purchasing anything. Price/quality: The prices here are great, can't find modern furniture at this price point nearly anywhere else. Having owned a variety of ikea furniture in college, I can say that the quality is usually somewhat decent. The more expensive items have lasted me well (the TOFTERYD coffee table at $199 for example), and the cheaper items that I have bought (such as the LACK coffee table- $30) broke down within months of use. read more

Happy MLK Day, Who ever is working with IKEA in customer service is no doing their job in a timely manner. I, Bonnie Dale Johnson, placed an order for pickup. Didn't want to pickup, but I had no choice. I received an email stating my scheduled pickup time to be 01/15/2021 from 9:00am-9:00pm. As you can see in my attachment, I received your email on Friday, January 15, 2021 9:51pm. Impossible for me to achieve. I gave up trying to talk with anyone at IKEA, to reschedule my pickup. But what's more unbelievable, IKEA customer service has now canceled my order completely. Loss prevention, management, security... all in cahoots. I love, love, love, love love Ikea! I had such a fun time at Ikea going through the showroom, daydreaming about my future home. There are so many awesome set ups of homes. Some of my favorites were the apartment set ups that are only like 400 square feet, it's so inspiring to see what is possible in such a small space. Ikea carries all things home from throw pillows (only $4.99!) to baby cribs, dishes, to dressers, couches, and cabinets. And really everything in between. When you grab your goods from the marketplace, be sure to grab a flat cart, be ready to lift heavy boxes, and go on your way to the cash registers. Everything is super affordable so it's easy to load up on stuff and end up spending more money than expected. Ikea is such a fun way to spend a day. Give yourself at least a few hours to go through the store as it is huge! I will say that the staff is far and few between, so know that. The food cafeteria is also awesome. They have cinnamon rolls, pear cider, veggie dogs, swedish meatballs and much more. The veggie dogs are amazing and cheap! I'm writing this as I've stood for over an hour in line to schedule home delivery of furniture that I just picked. This low rating is specifically for the service at the returns/exchanges/home delivery service. First of all, you do not actually schedule home delivery at the station with the large sign that says "Home Delivery". Rather you get in the Returns and Exchanges line. I learned this after an associate told me "Oh that sign has been there forever. It doesn't mean anything." Well, words do mean things. Now, the line for all things service hasn't moved... and no shade to the associates, because I'm sure they're doing their jobs and not responsible for scheduling... but this is ridiculous. If I hadn't already purchased large items with no way to get them home but to schedule delivery, I would leave. I'll be sure to not use this service again. Several people have walked out of line and just given up. I don't usually rant. (You can check my other posts). However this has been a horrible experience. I wholeheartedly do not recommend using this service... or at least trying to on a weekend. read more

Self service furniture emporium for the masses. Hubs and I have been outfitting his new "remote" office in our house and IKEA was the ideal choice. If I'm being honest, we hadn't bought IKEA furniture since college, but it is affordable and has a nice clean aesthetic. Some downsides - like so many others, they are struggling with inventory right now so the items you want may be out of stock. You also have to be prepared to self serve and handle your own items, many of which are very heavy so bring strong friends and a truck. They lose two stars because the item we needed (a loveseat) was an item that had to be "picked" by the IKEA team. We used the service desk to "order" the couch, paid for it, and then proceeded to the Furniture Pick Up counter. There looked to be only 1 employee working that counter and there were a lot of people in line. We waited in line for 10 minutes, and then he told us it would still be another 15 minutes or so and that we would get a text message when it was ready for pickup. We waited for 30 more minutes, just standing around, until we finally got back in line to wait again to approach the employee. He stared at us pretty blankly when we asked for an update and then after looking in his system told us that one of our items was on a pallet somewhere and he couldn't tell us how long it would take to pick it. We grudgingly decided to leave and go home because we had other things to do on a Saturday and didn't want to sit around at IKEA for hours waiting for an unspecified time frame. Of course, we get home and immediately get the text that our couch is ready for pickup. For all of the logistics this company has, it was very odd and off-putting to us that we had to wait so long and leave and come back to pick up our items. read more

A Waste of time and energies! I just had the worst experience at IKEA in in the 15 or so years IKEA has been in Atlanta. I have visited IKEA 3-4 times per year since it opened its doors in Atlanta. Though I live a 45 minute drive away, today I was nearby IKEA for another errand. I decided to stop for two items. Though I walked the store looking at many other items I went there with two specifically in mind. On selecting my two items and waiting in line for approximately 15 minutes or so to check out I was told that I could not purchase one of my two items, because it was the last of its kind on the shelf. The check out clerk was nice, but insistent. I asked if I could speak with a manager which he respectfully accommodated. A manager by the name of Litrell came and introduced himself to me. He restated that he could not sell the item, but he checked the skew and said that, "there should be two more of the item you are looking for". He suggested I go back and look more carefully which I did. Without recalling which department I had found the item I returned and completed another walk of the entire 2nd floor before being directed to the correct department on the first. I did find the item and on returning to the check out line, now 2-3 times the length of the first, I asked Litrell if he would shorten my now more than two hour visit to IKEA by accommodating the sale of this one item so that I could leave and not be further stuck in the store? In my opinion, Mr. Litrell was disingenuous in saying, , "Nope, I am not going to have a customer get angry, because I checked you out first before going through the line"! I reminded Mr. Litrell that I had already waited patiently and gone through the line like every other customer. He said, "Nope, you will have to go through it again for your item", my one $10 item. I suggested to Mr. Litrell that in my 55 years, many as a manager of a variety of operations, the #1 job of a manager is to resolve, short circuit, circumvent customer Matters/ Mistakes/ Inadvertent issues in a way they can be resolved in a diplomatic fashion. There had been no sign/ notification anywhere that stated/ suggested that the last $10 item/ small office garbage can, I had placed in my cart was not for sale. I asked Mr. Litrell if he would please check my one item out so I could be on my way and no longer being upset with this, in my opinion, IKEA Consumer SNAFU, but he was insistent he would not. For the first time ever In my dozens of visits to IKEA, possibly for more years than Mr. Litrell has been around, that I had a horrible and upsetting experience at IKEA. The matter could have been easily resolved in several fashions. 1. There could be a sign explaining that only specific items can be sold while others can not. 2. When the issue was brought to the attention of a manager, he may have expressed or taken an action to resolve the customer problem. 3. Mr. Litrell could have simply circumvented the entire matter by offering a reasonable measure to expedite a solution to my $10 short purchase matter. As it is, the time stress and communications with IMEA's manager...... I have returned home, wasted an afternoon at a store that has generally been very pleasant to shop at. I stopped at Target along my way home, ran in and five minutes later returned to my car with my office garbage can and a few smiles from the clerk. It almost seemed the IKEA manager had found some pleasure in knowing how far out of my way he had sent me to reacquire my item. It all seemed like common sense to me. I have seen dozens of situations as this over the course of my life....... most all can be quickly defused. This one was not and I will not waste another one way 45 minute drive again to have another exhaustive, disappointing experience or know that my business is truly NOT appreciated at or by IKEA. read more

Extremely frustrated with this IKEA location. We have attempted to buy the same piece of furniture in store two months in a row now. Each time we have been able to purchase the item with no issues or warnings. Each time we have taken our receipt to the pick up furniture center outside the building and each time we've been told that it will be about forty minutes to have our item brought out to the car. The first time we waited over an hour and were thanked for our patience. Then about twenty minutes later we were told that we'd be refunded because one half of our order had been over sold. The second time we bought this product (over a month and half later), we waited our prescribed forty minutes and went in to follow up on the progress only to then be told that half the item had been OVERSOLD again!!!! IKEA needs to reevaluate how their checkout process works. I should not even be able to scan the item onto my shopping list if a part of the item is unavailable. I should not be able to purchase it at checkout if a part of the item is unavailable. I should not be told to wait forty minutes to have the item brought out to my car, if a part of the item is unavailable. I should not then be told, after waiting forty minutes, that a part of the item is unavailable. A complete waste of time. I will buy the furniture piece I needed from another store and GLADLY pay more to have guaranteed possession. IKEA has great prices, but clearly not worth the headache every time. read more

A shout out to Derrick (DJ) at the furniture pick up section. Thanks for helping my neighbor in ordering the book cases this afternoon. We would never be able to lift any of those boxes and lay them onto the flat cart, I approached Derrick for help. He said to wait for him at the aisle. Then my friend decided to just pay extra $40 for the store to pick up all the merchandise and then to deliver (another $59) to deliver to our condo building. Derrick was extremely patient and helpful. IKEA store is humongous. I hate it, it is a maze and one would take a long time to get from the 2nd floor and then maneuver to the pick up aisles and then check out counters. Their quality not the very best but for that price point, it is fair. I dare not think of buying anything from IKEA, "assembly required" those two words scare me. I don't need nor want to assemble anything if possible in my life. read more

One of the largest IKEA stores in North America. Everyone knows IKEA is great for affordable and stylish build-it-yourself furniture. You browse the giant showroom floors for the stuff you like, write down the aisle and bin numbers where the pieces are located, and pick up the unassembled furniture in the warehouse on your way out. I've seen many a home and restaurant that have IKEA products. The furniture is inexpensive because almost everything is made in China, all of the wood items are made of particle board, and as mentioned above, you build everything yourself (so the labor cost is on your end, not theirs). The people who design IKEA furniture are smart. They package everything efficiently and give you the minimum number of parts and tools required to assemble your furniture. They use illustrations in their instructions, avoiding the need for instructions in different languages. Craftsmanship can make a difference, so you should probably take your time while assembling your furniture and not rush or skip steps. Assembly time can vary of course, from 15 minutes for a small end table to 2.5 hours for a dresser. In the end, I find IKEA furniture to be functional, stylish, and durable (if you know how to take care of things). Apart from furniture, I've found IKEA useful for other miscellaneous items such as batteries, picture frames, fake plants and pots, gift wrapping supplies, and food and snacks. They have a cafeteria upstairs that serves inexpensive food, such as their 99 cent breakfast. There is also a small bakery downstairs where you can purchase their yummy cinnamon rolls and also a variety of Swedish goods, including their famous lingonberry juice and sparking apple and pear drinks. IKEA can be a nightmare on weekends due to high crowd volume. The best time to go are weekday evenings when it feels like you have the entire store to yourself. Parking is plentiful in their two-story parking deck and they also have loading zones on street level so you don't have to cart your big and heavy items far. read more

IKEA has gotten too big and feels as though they could care less about there customer as though they've acquired some kind of monopoly and we have no choice but to shop there. I use to get excited about going now I dead going and will only go as a last option or in an emergency situation. Customer service has gone down hill with at least 1/2 there staff there, from my experience. I ordered a bookcase with glass doors that was supposedly in stock. Pickup availability was timely but incomplete. After purchasing I was sent a text message that my order would be ready for pick in a specific 2 hr time window that I did not get to select. Had to call customer service to find out that I had 24hr's from the stated pick up time. More wasted time when the info should be posted. I showed up to pick up my order. Upon arrival I followed the link and instructions on the text I received from Ikea which thus far has been the only thing that has functioned correctly. In the text, when asked if I needed help loading my order I selected "yes". I then received the "ready for pick up text". When I got to the pickup area an employee asked me what my order # was, went looking around for a few minutes for it and then came back w with a cart with my boxes on it. He pushed it out to me, in the rain and then walked away. I said that I needed help and was told that I had to wait for him to help get another order. I decided to at least get started loading my car instead of just standing around. As I was loading the employee walked by me again as I was struggling to get the huge heavy box in the car and didn't offer to help. Really!? He never returned or said another word to me. After getting about 1/2 way through assembly I learned that I was missing all the hardware and the manual the was supposed to be included with the doors. I was not given any indication that anything would be missing. I returned to Ikea once again for these missing pieces. I waited for help at the returns area were a younger, rude woman helped me. I felt like I could not have inconvenienced her more. She didn't know to help me and had to ask for help. She left to back and then came back out, my complaining about her manager and how she'd couldn't wait to work somewhere else with mature supervision. Once she figured out what how to look up what I needed she then told me that they were out of stock and that they had to be ordered. I asked her if this happened a lot and if Ikea offered anything to their customers as compensation when then they balk has been dropped? The woman immediately laugh at my question & then said "yes, that this happens with Ikea all the time" and no they don't because they did then they'd go out out business. I also asked her to make sure that she ordered me enough pieces because there were 2 door on my bookcase. She said yes, no problem. As I was leaving I got the confirmation email. Ahhh! She messed up my address. I call customer service again and am now told that I have to start all over because they cannot modify anything about an order once it's been placed. This woman on the phone was nice and seemed to be pretty helpful until we were disconnected just before completely reordering me the missing parts. So I call back again and this next rep was not so nice. She refused to do anything for me other than to give me verbal directions on how to go through their website to do it all again, this time by myself. Now I'm on the website trying to complete my order and their system glitches and freezes so go go through it all again. More glitches, freezes and limited and changing options. It just wasn't working properly and the glitched order that did go through was incomplete so I tried following it with another one and same thing again. So now idk what's coming in. So apparently it takes about a week to get theses parts and guess what. They're incompetent. Reordered the missing parts again. This is ridiculous, infuriating and disrespectful treatment of their customers. So now I have to wait another week for hopefully the last of what I need. It's really a 4.5. but to be honest Ikea's restaurant is under rated for its price,ambience and food quality! Healthy food and all for the price of $4.99. Unbeatable! The marinated salmon salad is worth every penny. The salmon balls by themselves were tasty but the beans seemed undone! IKEA has been a complete disappointment to my family and I. We had high hopes for stellar service and the experience was far from it. I purchased two complete bedroom sets for my children and I am yet to receive my delivery order. They do not offer a direct line to customer service so I had to call in on two occasions to a call center so far. The first delivery date that was missed and I had to spend two hours on the phone before I was able to speak with the an IKEA representative. When she checked my order number, the Atlanta IKEA office never submitted my ticket to the XPO Logistics office for delivery. The representative I spoke with over the phone assured me she would correct the issue. I patiently waited for the delivery service to call and confirmed the second delivery. After I didn't receive a call the day before my second delivery date, I decided to call IKEA again to find out what was going on. It took me another 2 1/2 hours to reach someone this time. Can you believe THEY DIDN'T HAVE MY ORDER IN THE SYSTEM AGAIN!!! It is very frustrating when you have been patient and done your part as a customer. As a college student I liked Ikea for their affordable furniture. Now as a homeowner, I'm thankful that I can still buy affordable basic furniture pieces to repaint or hack. I've been waiting for IKEA to reopen so that I can pick up a few pieces that I've been eyeing. I've been trying to order click and pick up, but was never lucky enough to get a time slot. So to my surprise I found out IKEA was reopened last week. We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 6 and there was already a large line. They were only allowing 45 people in at a time. Totally understandable with COVID. Once inside, we're all pretty much herded into the same areas with whoever wants to head to the marketplace going there and others into the display area. I like that they had sanitation stations throughout each area so that you can get a pump of hand sanitizer. What I did not like was the vast amount of individuals not wearing a mask. I understand not everyone wears a mask, but man, at least 60% of those who visit that night were not wearing them and not social distancing. Totally bummed me out. I was expecting some of this, but not to this extent. We still had enough room to move away from clusters of people and revisit areas when people milled away. The hardest part was finding all of our items. Most of the items we were able to pull ourselves, but half of one of our order required the staff to pull from the back. It wasn't a large item, but a 36 inch stick that was the support to our shelves. I didn't understand how we were able to pull all the shelves, but not able to pull the support ourselves. Customer services said that it might take an hour for it to be pulled. *mind blown* I think that they still have some kinks to work out since they reopened. It wasn't that bad if you have time to kill and don't mind doubling back. I most likely won't be back for a while and I'm hoping the click and pull will be more successful in a few months. read more

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed IKEA yet! I totally love this place. David K has a good point- main props for IKEA include the food (that ice cream is so good- and cheap!) and most definitely the people-watching. Talk about a spectator sport! The first time I ever went, I was almost overwhelmed - and I have a lifetime of serious shopping experience under my belt. As good as I usually am at navigating aisles, dodging other shoppers moving too slowly, etc, IKEA made me up my game! I wandered around in a bit of a daze trying to take it all in. Since then, return visits have been much smoother and calm and I've gotten everything from a computer table (put it together myself!) to my cool desk. I love home design and things like closet organization so I am fascinated walking through their different apartment displays and taking it all in, even if it's not all stuff I'd do in my own place. I've been a fan of their frame selection since my first visit and frames are why I returned last week. Most of my artwork is displayed in the silver RIBBA ones (the matte version) and a gf who's abroad right now needed me to do some recon on mat dimensions for her since that info isn't available on their website. Easy enough and a good excuse to venture out to peruse! There are always random fun things I'm tempted to pick up - from vases to little lamps, or even new bedding (I have always wanted that round "bed"/chaise thing but have sternly told myself it's not practical- and I have nowhere to put it!) but I was good this time and just did my homework for her and browsed and crowd-surfed! Update1/17/21: It took 5 visits to get the items I needed most. They are still constantly out of stock. However the food court is consistently open, so at least there's food for the trouble. 12/2020: This store used to be so great, but since about Oct. 2019 I've pretty much never been able to go get what I intend to get, and it's only gotten worse with the Coronavirus. While many people buy the furniture for their first home, college dorm, or apartment, we have always bought all of our office furniture from IKEA. The stuff is Well built, easy to put together, and a good value. I don't know how many Billy bookcases I've owned over the past 10 years, but I know I have about a dozen right now, in all different sizes. And while you're there definitely eat in the cafeteria. A visit to Ikea is a fun excursion, and I always come home with something that makes my home and life better! First, it is nearly impossible to make a "quick run" to Ikea. Even when you know all the shortcuts and exactly where you want to go, you will be thwarted by large groups of meandering visitors. People seem to visit Ikea in large groups and treat the trip as viewing opportunity with lots of stops and discussions. So, pack your patience, build in some time margin, and set your mind to enjoy the journey. It will make your trip more pleasant. Whether it is kitchen supplies, textiles, or window treatments, I have had luck finding lots of things I need (and lots that I don't) while visiting. Pro tip - find what you are looking for online first, and then just go straight for it. We have had luck purchasing items and having them delivered. We found it to be well worth the delivery fee. Everythings was perfect and on time. The cafeteria is a fun visit, as well. And save room for a delicious cinnamon roll! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service tonight. I first tried to get information on buying tickets to the holiday Julbord on the Atlanta event page. There is no information. Then I tried the chat feature and after waiting for 20 minutes was told that there was no information on the Atlanta page - which I already knew and had told them at the start of the chat. I love coming to ikea. It's like a candy store for me. So many possibilities! You can find many home solutions when comming in ikea (home furnishings, decorations, interior designs, house plants, and more). In my opinion you can find many of your staple pieces like dressers, chairs and picture frames here. I have purchased the Malm dressers which I love (tip: if you get these dressers also buy the glass top for them. It preserves the surface longer). I also love their plant section. During the spring and summer months you can find tons of succulents, cacti, orchids, and tall corner plants. I love adding the greenery into my home. Its been 2 weeks since I called about a defective hinge on a cabinet and just got a message the hinge I need was shipped. Checked the part number they sent 16 of who knows what it is and it's not the correct part at all and why didn't' they even look at the pictures I sent to see what I needed!! Can you say "Over rated". Yes, over rated meaning that the hype is much more than its value. There were hundreds of people there and not enough employees. If I have a question, tough...if I need a part..too bad. I don't see what all the hype is about. The furniture selection is fairly modern and fairly priced, but most people were not buying furniture mostly; i observed people buying household decor and utility items. I found that the trinkets and things were not worth the mass crowds and long, long checkout lines. Do yourself a favor buy those 12 wine glasses on amazon and spare yourself the full day of waiting and waiting. I used to love this IKEA. I don't know what's happened. Dirtiest restrooms imaginable - on both floors. Crazy shoppers banging into each other and half of the normally displayed things not on display. The other aspect that I hadn't noticed before is how challenging it is to return to the parking garage if you don't want to ride the elevator. No easy path to stairs or escalator without wandering outside. read more

I have been coming to this store for many years and it always makes me so happy. The kids area was very well put together and a great idea. The furniture is so high end, and structured around smart living, yet at such affordable prices. I love walking through the store, and the cafeteria never fails to disappoint. Then the instructions are so easy to follow for building the items too! I got a desk chair and made it in under 15 minutes. My favorite part of the whole store though is the little food area next to the checkout where my family would always get an icecream cone or a delicious cinnamon roll, and sometimes pick up some frozen meatballs and lingonberry jam for dinner the next night. Very clean IKEA. If you go on the weekend during quarantine, be prepared to stand in line. IKEA is limiting the number of guests that can enter at a time. The line both times I went it was about a 30 minute wait. You must also wear a mask. I didn't see anyone providing masks, so make sure bring your own before waiting in the line. **Please don't be a "Karen", the people around you want to shop too. Nobody is having fun in line while an employee finds a manager to tell you no.** They also have have extended morning times on Tuesday and Wednesday for at risk shoppers... details on the website when you go to your "store location" :) One of my items was out of stock. You may want to check on the website on your phone while you're browsing to make sure what you're looking for is in the store before you get to the self service area. The warehouse has extended shipping times due to covid and some things are lower stock or not in stock. Otherwise, pretty standard IKEA experience. :) read more

I hate this place to be honest. I mean, I like their furniture but I HATE going into an Ikea. Don't ever come on a weekend. If you have anxiety, hate being in tight spaces, hate crowds, or if you're in any rush whatsoever you're pretty much fucked. The place will be packed full with hordes of people moving in slow motion or completely oblivious to the fact that they aren't the only ones there to shop- thus standing in the middle of the aisle staring into fucking space. Oh yeah, if you need help (or get lost, because the place is a damn maze!) and you won't find a single employee in sight! At least, not until you go to check out. Today I'm here on a Monday and I'm happy to see little to no customers. My boyfriend and I decided to grab a quick bite before shopping around. The women that serve the food are ridiculously rude and don't explain shit about how their stupid line works. I won't say what they were acting like, but the word starts with a B and ends in ES! The woman that checked us out was sweet enough and apologized on their behalf- not that it was even her fault but I do appreciate that. All the tables are dirty and disgusting, there are coffee stains and crumbs on practically all of them. I'd rather be sitting on the floor. The food is pretty much cafeteria food. It's not great. It's not good. We should've just eaten the ketchup. I know it's a furniture store, so I guess we shouldn't have expected much! Ikea is well known in the Atlanta area. Located right next to Tech campus, lots of students not only come here to furniture shop, but to also eat a value meal as well! This location is always kept clean and there are plenty of tables to sit at in the food court. The classic 8 meatball plate comes in at $6 with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes, and you can pay for extra meatballs too. The chicken finger plate with fries comes in at $6 as well. Plus there are plenty of dessert options. I'd opt to get a fountain drink as Ikea produces some unique soda options. There is a coffee/latte machine as well if you prefer hot drinks. Overall, if you're browsing around for furniture or just window shopping, I definitely recommend you stop by the food court for a nice lunch! read more

While I was impressed by the sheer size of the store, and the amount of things in it, I wish there was a way to just cut to the sections you want to see instead of viewing everything in the store. That said - it was definitely an experience. It took us a LONG time to walk through the whole thing. We also lost a member of our group for a while when they went in search of a bathroom. Glad I can say I finally came here, but it may be a bit before I go back. FYI- the cinnamon rolls at the restaurant area are pretty good! read more
