I've been to this IHOP many times, so my comments on the food and ambience are based on multiple visits. The service, however, is another story. I like that this location really puts effort into their appearance. There are frequently decorations throughout the restaurant in honor of holidays and special occasions, and they'll sometimes have a big screen TV on with relevant programming (including World Cup games recently). The food is typical IHOP fare, and is pretty good. This location also has some omelet specials not on the officially sanctioned menu (like a philly cheesesteak omelet). The food is solid. The service needs commenting on. I have, in the past, had outstanding service at this location. There is one gentleman whose name I cannot recall who has given me some of the best restaurant service of my life. No exaggeration. But the last two visits to this location, I have had bad service. I will not name the server, but I will say that she is forgetful to the point of ridiculousness. She has forgotten to ring in food, she has forgotten to bring sides and condiments, she has forgetfully left things on my table that were supposed to be taken to other tables. One time, she was standing around doing nothing, when she looked over at me at my table and said to herself (loud enough for me to hear), "Oh shoot! I better get his drinks." Another time, after she had taken my meal order, she asked a shift manager to delete my appetizer from the ticket, and I had to remind her that, no, I had actually ordered an appetizer. She's also touchy--literally she will touch you--and I hate that. She thinks because she's waited on me a few times that we're friends. We aren't. In general, this is a well-run location and there are many good servers here. I just lucked out my last two visits and got a not-great server. If it weren't for her, I'd give this location four stars, easy. read more

Everyone should take time out of their busy day to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the IHOP on Smoketown Road in Woodbridge, Virginia. Trust me--you will not be disappointed. When you arrive, ask for a server named Nelson. I am over 60 years old, and I have never visited an IHOP where the customer service exceeded my expectations to this extent. From the moment my husband and I arrived, Nelson greeted us with a warm smile, a courteous welcome, and even shook our hands. He was attentive to our needs throughout our visit, but what impressed me most was that he treated every customer with the same level of kindness and respect. Not only did he wait tables, but he also seated guests and cleaned tables--all while maintaining a positive attitude and a genuine smile. His professionalism was contagious and made the entire dining experience enjoyable. If we could have left a larger tip, we certainly would have. Nelson is truly an asset to IHOP. He is also bilingual, which made our experience even more pleasant. With customer service skills like his, it is only a matter of time before someone offers him the opportunity of a lifetime. Nelson, thank you for such an outstanding experience and for helping us start our day on such a positive note. If you are in the area, stop by and show Nelson some appreciation. Exceptional employees deserve to be recognized. read more

The food was surprisingly bland and lacked the seasoning and flavor I expected. Nothing was particularly bad, but the entire meal felt uninspired and forgettable. Based on this visit, IHOP offers a more satisfying breakfast experience. Still, every restaurant can have an off day, so I may give it another chance. read more

This place is busy, but still able to serve a bunch of folks. Shout out to Lucy our server. She was friendly and attentive. The meal options are standard and basically good. Recommend any item you order an entree with a sauce or syrup, ask them to separate it from the entree. They tend to drown the entree. Definitely a family friendly restaurant and appreciate their honoring of military members. read more

Bad. Bad, bad. Horrible experience. Came in, was seated immediately, and waitress attended immediately. Informed waitress we needed more time to review the menu. She didn't come back until 15 minutes after in which she finally took our order. Ordered grilled salmon and jalopeno burger with chocolate chip pancakes. We received regular pancakes (no chocolate chip), with chocolate syrup. We tried giving waitress benefit if the doubt thinking maybe she misheard us. Once we got the food, the salmon wasn't grilled. It was fried and overcooked; burnt actually. Garlic bread was also burnt. Paid $17.99 for a burnt piece of salmon which was embarrassing. Afterwards, we tried to get our waitress attention to ask for the check. That itself took about 5-7 mins due to her prepping other tables while having a personal convo with her coworker. I personally don't mind the side convos, but at least pay attention to your customers since you're in the hospitality business. Due to lack of customer service skills and lack of food quality, 1 star review. Customer service is a huge area of opportunity. Will be informing management about that and food quality as both caused a negative experience. Ambiance itself wasn't enough to save this experience (and their ambiance was the only best thing about this visit...) read more

The woman that answers the phone and brings curbside is unbelievably rude. Not sure who she thinks she is talking to. Do better! read more

This IHOP needs an upgrade, the cushions are way too soft and falling apart The rugs are dirty and grungy. Definitely needs to shut down for a few weeks or a month to do the upgrades. Don't see that happening. Service was OK, portions were definitely a lot smaller than in the past. Won't be going back till they clean up the place. They say if you come to the door and it's dirty then the kitchen is dirty. read more

The pancakes were not even cooked it was still dough, the fries look 50% cooked they are still white, the service is slow the guy forgot our order, the orange juice had a small piece of mold ,the eggs taste like soap, my patience is up I don't recommend this place, first and last time 1 star I was really exited i got so disappointed when I saw my small burger I ate it with 2 bites read more

Trust the reviews and save your money. They have a nerve to leave comment cards on the table. Let me be fair. I was seated quickly for a cold Sunday and our waitress (sorry I forget her name) was basic. The restaurant was moderately clean for an IHOP. But the food was horrible! Portion size (way smaller omelettes than usual), plastic cheese... wait, I will post the email I sent to the contact on the card. Please note I got a response but it was horribly written and full of lies. Please see below. Email sent February 3rd. Hello Rosie, Before I went onto yelp to give this review, I wanted to reach out as I was so disappointed at my food. The service was okay. The cleanliness of the restaurant was okay. The timing in which we were seated was okay. Everything was what I expected until we got our food. I was obviously hungry and the food came out warm not hot. What I ordered: Chicken Fajita Omelette The corners you all cut is pretty severe but let's start with the portion size. It was pretty small. The eggs, are they real shelled eggs? Are there fillers? I felt like I was eating fake food. Plastic cheese, barely there peppers and the chicken portion was may equal to half a small breast of chicken. I could tell they used cheap enchiladas sauce to stretch the table spoon of salsa and served only about 1/2 spoon of sour cream which I was scared to taste. The pancakes seemed to be made with old batter and was crumbly and absolutely disgusting. I was anger at this point. My husband requested shelled eggs with cheese to complement his order. Theeggs were scrambled too harshly and the cheese was barely present. The best part of the meal was the drinks (orange and water). However, this meal was awful. Nevertheless, we smiled, nibbled and paid and tipped like civilized people should do. I opted to write instead of complaining at the restaurant as I did not have time and didn't want the rest of my day spoiled any further just in case the response didn't meet my expectations. My husband and I have decided to abandon patronizing the franchise all together as this has been a recurring theme at IHOP. This really saddens me as it has been a family favorite and tradition for literally generations. read more

This is an excellent IHOP. really good customer service. They offered free milkshake samples while we were waiting.

We were at the IHOP Woodbridge location on Smoketown at around 6:30 AM . There were just 2 to 4 customers there. We waited a long time till the server came to take our order . We ordered our meal which took even longer, only to find out it was wrong. My husband only had blueberry pancakes, and I had the regular breakfast plate with two Pancakes. My plate came much later than his food plus they forgot my pancakes and only came out when we were both finished with our breakfast. I can see things like this happen in a very busy environment, but that restaurant was practically empty at that hour , not to mentions I was sick for the rest of the day!! We even had to wait about 10 Minutes to pay at the register , there was nobody there !! Never again !! read more

Service was fine and accommodating. Food was terrible. Both orders the Pancakes were served cold- like they precooked them. Grits were tasteless. Egg was overcooked. Hashbrowns were barely warm and undercooked. Coffee was the warmest thing on the menu. I don't ever have to come to this ihop again. . read more

I came here late at night, so it was understandable how there was only 1 server. However, he barely paid attention to us. Keep in mind that there were only 2 other tables. He had his headphones on, and prioritized other customers. I am not sure if it was about racism, but my family and I did not feel welcomed. It was hard to get refills or anything. I could also see him sitting and using his phone. Terrible service. Besides that, the food was average, typical ihop quality. It was hard to enjoy with little water to drink. If you get a milkshake here, make sure it's for dine in. If you get take out shakes, they will be in small kids cup. read more

Something has changed, I believe maybe new ownership. I don't like the changes. Owners walking around (maybe owners) senior Wednesday used to give out cookies to take home. Not anymore. Now they give them to you at the table. (Very hard) me and my husband ordered food to go and ask for a free cookie for my son and she had to ask the new owner if I could take one home and the owner told her she couldn't do that. I've never had them say no when I order food to go The only good I saw was the waitress and my food was good but something has definitely changed. Senior day is usually packed not today. read more

The only thing you can count on this place is that the service will be constantly terrible. Dining in I've had to wait close to an hour for my food. The manager was angry I called him and his staff out on this. Both times I've ordered to go, I've had to wait an extra 15-20 minutes. I know they don't care but I won't be back. I'll spend my money at other places. The silver diner, eg, has always been good in Woodbridge. read more

My husband ordered a Classic Eggs Benedict, the eggs were poached, but the egg yolk was very hard! I ordered an omelet, where you pick your own ingredients. All the ingredients were on top of the omelet and not within. Plus at least 2 cups of cheese was dumped on top and not even melted! They need to train their cooks on how to make an omelet the correct way and how to poach eggs. We will never go back to this IHOP! read more

I only go to IHOP went I have late night craving and noting open. The food here is consistent not bad good enough to eat 3.5/5. Never eaten inside it seem to be fill drunk peoples after the club or teen latenight. So went I go look a mess and don't want to be seen. Pick up and go. The service is meh like 3/5 . They all probably tired and bored and ready to be out of there, I don't blame them but just always make sure to check your bad before you leave they tend to forget the basic stuff such as syrup or your special request on the side. I mostly get breakfast stuff which is good from pancake to omelets but now they steak omelets change they don't use actual steak like they use now it seem like little steak finely chop. Stay away from turkey and corn or steam veggie taste like nursing home food. Some peoples might like it but not for me. I would go back just because it 24 hours read more

Husband & I went on a waffle binge and let me tell you. Best ihop in the area! Clean ambiance, nice staff -- they actually smile and get your orders right unlike the ones from Dumfries. Shakes taste good compared to the one in Stafford. The staff here also gave us napkins. The food was good! Bacon in dumfries tasted like oil. This ihop branch I'm Woodbridge's bacon actually taste like maple bacon! Eggs were how I ordered them, server was not snarky (unlike the one in Dumfries). Also gave us extra butter We won't feel bad tipping cause the server here definitely deserves it! read more

I have been to this location once before and had a good experience but this time it was far from it. It was not busy so we were able to be sat right away.. the hostess was trying to find a place to seat us but the server who she was trying to sit us with was complaining right in front of us that he kept getting stuck with too many tables because all the other servers had left. He said that he took a table of seven already for another server and just kept continuing to tell the hostess that he did not need to take up another table. Needless to say I will not be coming back here again. read more

Typical weekday morning, had breakfast with my kids since they are on spring break. The omelettes are huge so I told the waitress me and my daughter would split it. We ordered extra hash browns. This place is amazing. 1 Star = No Comment 2 Stars = Something's Missing/ It's Not Good 3 Starts = It's Ok (They didn't mess it up) 4 Stars = It's Good 5 Stars = It's BANGIN!!! I can count how many times I've dined at IHOP in my lifetime on one hand. Though the prices turn me off, it's difficult to find a reputable sit in diner at 2AM in the morning. Surprisingly (to me) there were a lot of kids (teenagers) dining. Anywho I usually order the double blueberry pancakes. I'm not a pancake or waffle guy....(ok I am), but I get cravings once or twice a years for chicken wings and waffles or pancakes with eggs, bacon and cheese hash browns. I tried the strawberry cheesecake pancakes this time.....It was good, It was done right. I love hot food so my hot cheese hash browns took it from a 4......to 5 stars. Here is how all faired Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes: Though the cheesecake bits had the texture of one, It didn't really taste like cheesecake. It had more of a sweet cream taste. Nevertheless, they were tasty, I honestly didn't need syrup. However I' added blueberry, strawberry, and original syrup for a nice set of fork lifts Cheddar Cheese Hash Browns: I usually loath to get hash browns as I usually find the boring. That wasn't the case this time. They were hot,.....and Good . Fried eggs over hard: Can't never go wrong. Bacon: We ordered crispy bacon, but it came out any ol way. Due to everything else being great, they get a pass. I can't say I'll go back to IHOP during the day, but what I can say is,.......they're on my list when it comes to late dining. It was BANGIN I am Critic read more

Amazing!! So so good! The pancakes were soft and sweet. I really liked the service and ambiance.

The service is always awesome and this is our preferred IHOP when craving pancakes. It's always clean and very friendly for our family.

Been here many times before the recent renovations, and it wasn't good before but NOW this place is up to par. The staff were very friendly and our breakfast tasted good and came out in a timely fashion. One thing I want to highlight is that they sanitize the kid high chairs and wrap them with plastic foil so you know it hasn't been used after it was sanitized. VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS! I haven't seen any other restaurant do this. Thank you for keeping the restaurant clean! The current management is doing a great job. I would actually come back! Thank you read more

As I write this review, we have been here since 10:30 pm and it is now 1:20 am..... no food, bad service and just down right unacceptable. It took an hour just to get drinks, and by drinks I mean water, lemonades and tea.....keep in mind we are only here since it was graduation night and they were one of the few if not only places open. The first waitress that came over said that she tried to get someone to help us and no one would. After voicing my concerns, the hostess who sat us came and took our drink order... as we sat and waited we asked for the manager who immediately asked if we wanted to just cancel the order. Umm no, we would like the food we ordered. So we waited again...... I asked for the manager and she came out and just said yes, you asked for me? No apology, no explanation, nothing..... I counted at least 6 of at least 8 people per table minimum who came in after us, ate and left. Low and behold, ironically they lost our order.... how do you lose an order????? Better yet how do you lose an order for 13 people.....So at this point, I mean what's the point? So now they tell us it will be 10 minutes. That was at 1:18 as I type this there is still no food on the table. It's now 1:32...still no food.....still no update and the restaurant continues to clear out and we still have no food. I understand things happen, crowds come but how does this happen? How is it possible that every table that came in after you came, saw, conquered and we still have nothing? Food comes, order is wrong and she says just eat this until I get the right thing.... everything and anything you think could and would go wrong, did. As much as I would love for this to be a 4 star review with lots of kudos and praise, there were no events to support it. read more

I didn't have a good cup of coffee yesterday morning August 21st. 2021, but lord knows I made up for it yesterday evening. Yesterday morning after leaving our hotel, I was going to get Starbucks dark roast black coffee because I carry my creamer with me. But the grandchildren ages 4 and 7 wanted IHOP 's blueberry pancakes. So I yelped and did some other reviews and we ended up at this one at 13718 Smoketown Rd, Woodbridge, VA 22192. The establishment was full, but they had tables outside and we immediately ushered to them and told that our server would be out to us. The majority of patrons in this establishment were of Latin descent, especially the majority of workers. A speckle of Caucasian and Black people were being served inside. After 15 minutes I approached them and informed them we had not been approached by a server and the woman who was Hispanic was short with me snapping saying "Someone will serve you!" I told the kids we were leaving, but they began to tear up and asked why couldn't we wait. My 4 year old grand daughter expressed her desire for the blueberry pancakes and my 7 years old grand son said he didn't mind waiting. There were 2 older Hispanic women near us and one looked sorrowfully towards me as if she knew my frustration. I gave in and after 15 more minutes I watched as the server who had been bringing coffee and making small talk with the other patrons excorted another couple of Hispanic women and took their orders. I was livid. We go inside and I see a Black woman and as I shared what was happening she finished my statement, "and serviced them before serving you and your children. She understood and when I knew it, I also knew I was not going to spend another second in this place. Prejudice pieces of shit! As we were leaving, the woman server was taking another order of a Hispanic family who had just arrived sitting across from us. She deliberately walked passed us. I was fuming as I gathered our things to leave. We had driven out of the parking lot and my 7 year old grand son said, "Grandma, could you stop please, my sister doesn't have on her seat belt?" I came to my senses and pulled over to breathe. I asked the kids to give me a minute and my daughter called. She immediately asked what was wrong and I burst out crying . I explained what happened and I told her this is the situation where I am not going to make a scene and demand the service because those kinds of mentalities are disgusting. There's no telling what would be put into my food. The black woman working there needed a job so she was not about to advocate for us because she already knew what was going down. But this is the shit we, as on Black people have to contend with daily. Proxy racism is just as hurtful. My grandchildren were just as worthy of their blueberry pancakes as much as those Hispanic children. But thank God I have coffee at home and my grandchildren will have their Blueberry pancakes and maple syrup today. But that experience sincerely hurt me. I know this is not the behavior of all Hispanic people, but I have advocated for the ones working there, I've invested in people like them to stay here and it's just as hurtful as it is when some of my own Black people treat me like shit because I am really not their enemy, but you wouldn't know it by their treatment. There's apparently poor management at this location. Will never return to that blatant prejudice treatment. Work ethics are horrible and that's why I am grateful for the coffee this evening at Carol's restaurant read more
