Been going there on Sunday morning w/my brother for a year or so and ordering the 2x2x2. Asked the difference between the regular & the senior and was told there was none and both offered the all you can eat pancakes. 'Bout a month ago the waitress told me that all you can eat pancakes weren't included with the Sr. version and I would have to pay extra. The next time, and my last visit, I ordered the regular 2x2x2 but was told that as of 4/24 they no longer offered all you can eat pancakes on weekends. I asked for a manager and was told one wasn't present. We left. I later called corporate and they said someone would call me. Never happened. Not going back. They say presentation is everything and while, sure, that's not to necessarily be expected at an IHOP, the breakfast I had left much to be expected. The scrambled eggs looked like a messy slop of yellow eggs from back in your grade school days topped with a spoon full of cheap by-the-gallon salsa... coupled with that lovely picture the hash browns were burnt and so hard you couldn't even cut through them to eat without a knife. Nevertheless I made my way through a few bites and decided that this just wasn't going to cut it for breakfast and gave up. Shortly thereafter I noticed a rumbling in my stomach... yep, something in that California scramble was bad. The silver lining? Service was excellent and they staff was very attentive to what seemed to be every customers needs. I don't plan to return anytime soon. read more

A friend and I stopped here because we like IHOP. This one is not quite up to snuff. Service was slow but the waitress was nice. My friend got a Poblano Omelette and it was good. I wasn't so lucky. I ordered a pancake combo with eggs, hashbrowns & bacon. I asked for the eggs to be over easy & the waitress said that would be with the egg whites runny & asked if I wanted over medium, which would be with the whites firm, so I said yes. I asked for the bacon to be crispy. What I got was eggs that were so over cooked the yolks were completely solid and whites that were so beyond firm they were crispy on the edges. The bacon looked well done but was somehow limp. The hashbrowns were crispy & well done on one side & under cooked on the other. I was so hungry by the time we got the food that I didn't want to send it back and wait all over again, so I ate part of it. On the other hand, the double blueberry pancakes were great, with quite a lot of blueberries. read more

I have never written a letter of complaint before, and am hesitant to do so now.  However tonight I had the worst dining experience in my life at the Sumter IHOP. I was dining with my son, daughter, and 9 year old grand daughter this evening, and your restaurant was apparently short staffed. My daughter ordered BBQ Mac and cheese, and was told they were out, as well as being out of fruit, cinnamon roll pancakes, Dr. Pepper,  and ham....ok, so we finally found something they did have to order. While waiting for our food order, the phone was ringing and our server had a meltdown in the dining room, dropping the F word multiple times, in front of customers including children and elderly patrons. She said she "can't F#@king do this, she in one F$%king person", etc.  The lady I am guessing was the manager on duty did nothing. My breakfast sampler was so salty I could not eat it, my pancakes were cold, and quite frankly after the scene with our server none of us had much of an appetite at that point. I paid my bill and left.  I have worked as a server in the food industry for years, and so have my daughter and husband.  Never in any of our experience, would this kind of service and behavior be acceptable.  I am sure the staff was frustrated and stressed, but venting with expletives is saved for the walk-in cooler, not the dining room. My family and I have been loyal customers for years,  but it will be a long time, if ever, before I return. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. For the last three visits to this restaurant, our food (breakfast) was COLD; the pancakes had no butter and when butter was finally brought, it was ice cold and had no chance of melting on the cold cakes. The bacon (crispy requested) was cold and only half-cooked (way less than crispy) and did not taste fresh. The server was less than punctual which explains why the food was cold. Instead of returning the cold food to the kitchen, when told of the issue, she only asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. Overall, a very poor experience, so now, after four visits, we are not planning to return. I recommend taking your breakfast desires somewhere else, anywhere else. This place does NOT have a bright future. read more

Don't bother- cooks can't cook, food is slow, and management sucks, yelling from the kitchen is ridiculous and apparently does no good. Faces keep revolving- that says a lot. Morning crew is great. We usually go in on Sunday mornings and everyone from the hostess, to the servers and the cooks knows what they're doing. Food is always hot and quick. On Sundays only though. ***This review is for the downtown location on Assembly street. I cannot find a listing for that location. I cannot speak for the location in Sumter.*** I would give them a zero, but I can't. This is the WORST IHOP ever. It is an embarrassment to the company. In short, the service is epically slow, and the service staff cannot seem to get an order right. If you have an issue, good luck with the manager. She is VERY hard to understand, and is not helpful at all! If the food that you ordered ever actually comes and it resembles your order at all, inspect it closely. I will never go to this place again, period. UPDATE: IHOP Corporate has apologized for the incident and refunded me my money in full. IHOP has cleaned up the mess created by one shoddy manager. read more

This place sucks....I went there for lunch yesterday and it took 15 minutes for someone to ask: (What will you have to drink?) By that time I was annoyed so I went next door to Applebees and had my food in less than 5 minutes. What a damn disaster. It's 2 am and we just wanted to eat after spending 6 hours in the ER. But instead, we are seated and ignored. After we voiced our opinion about getting service the waitress Jazlyn shows up and takes our order. Then...the order is wrong but she waits until we are almost done to ask about it. No offer of condiments, napkins or anything. When she does cone back and we tell her the order was wrong, she said and I quote "I'm sorry there are a lot of things going on in here tonight. Hope we do better next time" Really?????? We paid and left. What a shame, this place used to be so good and the service great but now it's just a pit of problems. Sorry IHOP. We waited at the host stand for 10 minutes before anyone came up to us and then when we were greeted, the 'host' (I don't even know if it was the host maybe the manager or something) acted super weird about seating us. We finally got sat (there was maybe 10 other parties in the whole restaurant so they weren't busy) it took another 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server, and he was extremely awkward and weird when interacting with us. Not impressed with the fact that my order is always messed up and the wait times are real bad. I would suggest bringing your own wipes to clean the tables and seats along with one to wipe your hands after using the menu. read more

I will always love IHOP, even if their bathroom was gross. Our waiter, Josh, was very polite and quick. We were seated right away, which, well when I'm in California, never happens, but we were seated immediately, and to accommodate my grandmother and her cousin. I'm not crazy about chicken soup so don't take my word for it, I didn't like it too much. Their breakfast menu is extensive and really mouth watering. I had the Belgian waffles with eggs and sausage, and it filled me up. The reason I will always love IHOP is because of their coffee. They always have French vanilla creamer, which is all I need for my coffee, Denny's never ever has anything but half and half. It's all about IHOP, plus they have national free pancakes day every year. You can't beat that. read more

Last night probably the worst service we have ever gotten. Got at ihop at 10:51 literally did not get ANY food until 11:55 or so. Took THIRTY MINUTES to bring us drinks and my husbands ice cream took even longer. She claims "she's by herself tonight" but I see three other waitresses. If I were to tip it would be the cook because the food was amazing. We did tip because I would like to come back to this place and not get horrible service again. But this IS the worst service EVER. I've only had one visit to this location but it was a good one. We were very much impressed by our waitress Jamie and by the Manager on duty who stopped by our table. I believe her name was Heather. Very friendly folks. We found the food to be just as good as any IHop we have been to if not better and found the location to be clean. We did not have a wait at all in getting our table. I'll put this simply, I have one word to describe Sumter iHop, sad. The wait staff act like they are in foreign territory not knowing anything huddled standing together at the back of the restaurant. Food was disappointing to say the least, I ordered biscuits and gravy with hash browns which both looked and tasted like they were leftovers from who knows when. Struggled to eat and didn't even bother with the fake looking box scrambled eggs. Got a sassy attitude when I asked for a refill on my soda. This is my favorite place to eat at even though I'm not able to go everytime. Best Pancakes and Omelets, great coffee and nice waiters. Open 24 hours 7days a week. Want to give a big shout out to a waiter that works there. His name is cody. We have a 22 yr. old son with Down Syndrome and how this young man treated him, made our day. When my son would call his name and wave to him, he didn't ignore him, he would wave back, he did that , about 3 times. He took his order and listened to him tell a bad joke, and still laughed. when it came to pay the bill, my son put his money on the tray, he made him feel important for paying the bill. As we were leaving he met us and shook my sons hand and told him, he was glad to meet him and to come back. It has been awhile since we have enjoyed taking our son out to eat. So thank-you Cody, the service and food was great. read more

I ordered the quick 2 egg breakfast. Bacon extra crispy, hashbrowns scattered well, eggs fried omelette style, and dry toast. Simple right? Not for these people. Hashbrowns were raw and cold, and bacon could be rolled into a ball. Sent it back to be fixed. Eggs and bacon came back without the hashbrowns. Now I make a sandwich with these ingredients, so no hashbrowns means no sandwich. After 20 minutes the hashbrowns are brought out. They are chopped into tiny pieces, only a piece of an order, and burnt. At this time we get the manager involved. She says she will have it all redone since bacon and eggs are now cold. 15 minutes later the manager brings out the plate. The hashbrowns are like before, eggs are chopped up, and toast is burnt. Absolutely ridiculous. Then she gets mad because I say take my meal off the bill. I am tired of having to send the plate back and wait. Arrived hungry, and now leaving hungry. This place is going downhill fast. read more
