My friend and I were doing some shopping at Tanger mall and got hungry so we stopped in for some food (at about 9:30). We sat down and our waitress was outwardly sweet at first. She took our orders and went to put them in. 30 F-ING MINUTES LATER STILL NO FOOD! We had to ask again and again to get the food! Once they brought it out- they forgot my side! I had to ask THREE TIMES to get my side! The waitstaff was extremely slow and I don't know why it took that long to get our food out. Ridiculous. Came in late to spend some time with friends, it was surprisingly crowded for 10:00 p.m. But in spite of the full house the service was surprisingly good. Horrible service. Staff is super unfriendly. You walk in the door and they just look at you and walk away rather than coming to seat you. It takes about 5 minutes before someone approaches your table for them to rush and take your order. If could give less than a single star I would. My wife and I including my son and daughter were told the wait would be 10/15 minutes. We sat outside almost 45minutes to an hour. After we are seated the host was horrible, provided she was a host trying to do a waitress's job. She asked me 4 time what I wanted to drink and what my kids wanted like she never understood that I asked for two chocolate milks a sprite and a glass of water, but again whatever cut her some slack she's a host. Either way we finally are greeted by our waitress after waiting another 10/15 minutes at our booth and I greet her and say hello and she looked at me like I was monster. So we order our food, it takes almost another half hour or more to get to our table and when it does the sampler I ordered was horrible, chicken was dry and the cheese sticks were so over cooked that the cheese was solid metal when I bit into it. I also ordered pancakes and they were dry, my son was going to have macaroni but as you may have guessed his macaroni looked like it was made 3 days ago. My daughter asked for extra bacon and they bring her one piece and tell her every piece would be an extra dollar if she wanted more. All in all this place sucked and I will never in my life go back to this horrible excuse of an IHOP! read more

I hate to say it, but this seems like the most poorly run IHOP I have ever been to. When I entered, there were numerous unused tables. There were several parties in the lobby waiting to be seated. When I liked in, I did not see anyone busing and cleaning the tables. We gave our name. The young man who was seating people then gave the first table to a party who cam in after us. Then I looked inside the restaurant again. I saw numerous empty tables, and the host was not seating anyone. When I asked when we could be seated, he acted confused like he did not remember we needed a table. We sat sown. No one came to even offer us water for at least 10 minutes. The woman who cam e was not our waitress, but a woman who said she was supposed to be off duty 2 hours prior. The person who was our waitress never came until she brought us out food. The service was so slow, we almost left, but stayed and played cell phone games until the food arrived. We had to flag down a person who was not our waitress to bring us lemon for the water and the jalapeños we had asked for. This place needs an IHOP makeover. read more

This place is disgusting. I waited 5 minutes to be seated in a dirty section. The staff gave me dirty looks when i asked to be moved, like it was wrong to not want filthy tables and floors to look at while i ate. The staff continuously walked around me staring at me like it wasn't their job to serve anybody in that section and when the waitress finally came over to me i asked if that was her section and see said yes but explained to me that they weren't supposed to seat anyone in that section. Apparently her coworkers didn't care about her or their customers enough to seat them somewhere clean. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she could get the area cleaned up if that's what my complaint was I told her I wanted to be moved so she looked at me like "really"?? So she moves me to another table and then stated to treat me somwhat like a customer but i was still leary of the food and what they might do to my order all because i seemed to cause a stink but I still gave them a chance to make things better. There were only me and one other lady in my section but the guy who was waiting it never came over to me or said a word to me. He constantly came to her table to see what she needed even laughing with her but never asked me anything. I felt that to be totally rude. I asked my original waitress whats up with he guy working my section cuz he's ignoring me like the plague but that could be said about over half the staff there. She had no answer for. I got my food (Colorado omelette) my hash browns were cold but my omelette was ok. The manager came by to ask if things were fine and she got me some hot ones. It took a while for them to get me the check but as soon as i gotni up and left. Only left a dollar tip only out of pity for place. Never will go back there again. read more

I wish I could remember the waitress who served my fiance and I, but she was absolutely wonderful. My fiance and I split an omelette and she brought the food out for us already split and on separate plates so that we didn't have to struggle with that. She constantly assisted us and made sure we were taken care of without being overbearing. We had two people come and meet us 30 minutes into our meal and she served them just as well. There were no hotels available so we came to Texas City and wanted I hop for dinner, we waited for 15 minutes and the waitress said she would be right with us that she had to wipe a table off and there were only 2 staff members there and only 2 tables were occupied. The service was sub par, not horrible, just not what I would expect from a franchise like IHOP. I usually come to this one and I'm greeted and well taken care of, but this visit was not as good. The server that attended us had a sour attitude and hardly came to check up on us. Then, when the food got to our table, it looked and tasted pretty bad. The egg white omelette that I ordered was plated very messy, avocado thrown all over the plate, spinach was wet enough to make a puddle, the omelette itself was falling apart, also was rubbery, was also severely under seasoned and the fruit that came with it was not fresh because it was very pale. The breakfast sampler that my guest ordered was also very messy, the sausages were hard to chew, and the pancakes were really dry, we had to douse them in syrup. We would have asked for more butter instead, but the waiter never came back to the table only to pick up the check and the tip. Really let me down. read more

This location is overall really good I have no complaints and food is always fresh service is good, place is clean. The one thing Ive noticed is the younger staff to me (maybe its because I use to be a waitress) but the past two times I think Ive been there they are quite playful. NASTY! Husband and I went in on a Friday morning, and was shown our table by a little ray of sunshine (please note sarcasm). I said thank you! And she mumbled you're welcome. We sat down, and I immediately noticed that someone had not done a thorough job at cleaning off the table, as there was visible food on it. Ok, I could move past that. Then I noticed the stench. It smelled like a wet dish rag that hadn't been washed in days and was being used over and over to clean the same dirty tables. It turned my stomach. I have over 6 years of restaurant experience before moving into my current career and I know that smell and what causes it. I told my husband I couldn't eat here, and we got up and left. Without a server in sight. If they can't even care to properly clean a dining area where people eat, how do they treat the kitchen where people are making the food we are putting in our bodies? My two kids and I went for a simple brunch and ordered two pancake meals and a burger and it took two hours for us to leave. We ordered our drinks, it took ten minutes. The people next to us asked five different people for the toast they'd ordered with their meal and got it when they were finishing up. Everything we asked for took way longer than it should have. Even when we received our food, they didn't give us our silverware for another five minutes. The food was decent and our waiter was nice, but other than that it was not good. When we asked for our check, it took them ten minutes to print it and give it to us, then another for them to pick it up and bring it back. It was insane how long it took for us to get a meal. If I'm going to come back here, this place is going to need to get some better service. read more

Horrible service . As a person who has worked in the service industry and typically gives servers the benefit of the doubt, I was appalled by the service I received today. Three tables ordered after us, received their food , and paid before it was acknowledged that we had not yet received our food. When I addressed it , our server shrugged it off and mentioned something of a shift change and used that as an excuse for less than mediocre service. Ok so i waited to write this review of IHOP from when i was there this past weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE chicken fried steak and was craving it something fierce. The only reason I went to IHOP was 1) Kelley's was packed and i didn't feel like dealing with all those people only to sit in the back and get disappointed once again. 2) I didn't feel like driving further, so i opted for IHOP since we haven't been there in a long time. Ok SO..... first of all, when we got there, i swear to you, we stood there at the "wait to be seated" entrance.... stood there, and stood there, even made eye contact with a few servers and nothing... stood there we stood and stood there.... "Should we go???" i was thinking, then all of a sudden this chic out of nowhere pops up with menus and tells us to follow her, "ok....." Right then i was like, i dont even care, i'm so damn hungry for Chicken Fried Steak, it had better be good. Sat at the table. i already knew what i wanted so i didn't even look at the menu. Finally a waitress comes to take our order. She was polite. Ok so far so good kinda.... So now we wait.... and wait... and wait and wait.... while we were waiting, the guy sitting in the booth behind us called the waitress over and was complaining about his eggs. Saying he wanted it over medium and what he got was over hard. At this point i was thinking, "great, i ordered mine over medium" let's hope they get mine right. FINALLY after about almost 30 minutes we get our order. Chicken fried steak? Eh... could have been better, but what do you expect? It wasn't that hot, like it had been sitting there awhile. But i was hungry so i tore into it. Eggs?? Medium hard it was, again, could have been better. Hash browns, mediocre. The only thing that i can say was REALLY REALLY tasty was the biscuits. OMG to die for! All in all, not a HORRIBLE experience, but boy it sure is different going there during the day than after a drunk night out LOL. I was going to give this a 1 star rating, but since the waitress was not rude and at least made an effort to be nice i gave it a 2. BUT only thing i didn't like was she was staring at us from the table across from us like waiting to see us finish our food and she kept trying to clear the plates off the table. This location is clean and the staff are very friendly. On a recent trip my husband and daughter really enjoyed their food. My only complaint is the pancake batter in the omelet. All over TV says "kids eat free at Ihop from 4-10pm EVERY DAY" I got the bill, and told my waitress that she did not deduct the 2 kids meals. Didn't even get food bc we were already upset with the staff. They saw us walk in, kept looking back at us, then didn't even bother to seat us. So we just stood there. Then a couple came in behind us after we had been waiting for 20 minutes so we left and then they were seated. I took my 94 year old mother and my sister to this IHOP in Lamarque, Tx. We were handed the menu and the waitress walked away and never came back. We sat there 45 minutes until I started to speak up about where the service was. When someone finally came over they were very unprofessional yet apologetic when I told them we were leaving. The store was not full of people as a matter of fact it was just almost empty there was no reason for the lack of service and professionalism they displayed. I would never go back to that restaurant again. So to everyone who reads this review take my advice you're better off at a McDonald's. read more
