But I began to doubt myself as glimpses through the thick fog revealed no civilization, nothing but empty fields. Was there really a restaurant out here open at 5:12 a.m. or did my typically methodical road trip research contain an error? And suddenly, there it was, an oasis of an eatery standing alone in an ordinary building on the south side of the highway surrounded by nothingness.
