She answered all my questions with patience, although it was a busy day! To top off my awesome experience, my food was delicious! It was the best philly cheese steak sandwich I ever had. New menu and maybe new cooks there. 4/20/2019 I had a country fried steak that was absolutely awful and a hash brown that nearly busted my tooth. Waitress said oh was it that crispy ???? Real funny, Looking at it tho, we all knew that this crap was probably some left over from another plate they messed up on and just threw it back on the grill. We've been coming here for about 3 years now and I have never had food served to me like this, things were getting so much better but I guess the cooks were either stoned or just not the cooks who were cooking here before this. Sorry ihop I'm done with you. From Crispy fries that never crunch to tooth busting hash browns. The only good things we have left there are a couple of servers that we have befriended over the years but now there is actually only one left. I know this isn't a glamorous restaurant but the staff is always friendly. We actually love taking the kids here for dinner. My toddlers eat everything on their plates when they come here and they don't do that anywhere else. That's the truth! They love the eggs and French toast and that makes this momma very happy. I get their veggie omelette and the veggies are very fresh and it's always good. I love it for breakfast and dinner. We also love the chicken and waffles in both adult and keiki sizes ;)! I came here for breakfast with my brother. I ordered the bacon temptation omelette and he ordered the sampler. I asked for no butter on my pancakes. When the food came there was butter on it. It's the second time I ordered with no butter and they brought it with butter. There must be a lack of communication between the wait staff and kitchen. Overall service was ok. When we came to the restaurant we were greeted right away. The hostess took us to the booth, she was concerned that the five of us wouldn't fit into the booth, but we had no problem fitting. The waitress was nice, she promptly took our order. There was a mix up with the order, it was purely our fault, but the waitress still felt bed, and she brought us free pancakes that the kids wanted. IHOP to me is that consistent, textbook American, comfort food. Not to mention they offer 15% off your meal with a Kaukau card, or a free short stack of pancakes with a Yelp check-in. Gotta love places that still offer check-in offers for Yelpers! There are a few items that are my go-to's, including the spinach and mushroom omelette and chicken florentine crepes. Every time you go they have a featured theme and special combos to match, so you can usually get fun pancakes along with the classic eggs, meat, and starch combo for pretty cheap. Bottom line, if you're looking for a solid breakfast to take you through a busy Sunday of shopping, look no further! read more

We, who forget the past, are condemned to repeat it! It was terrible last time...and terrible now. My omelet was so cold the cheese wasn't even melted...plus it had a non-identifiable cheese sauce inside that tasted like it was from powder. Heather's broccoli was mushy and watery...and cold. The waiter said it's because it comes out of a packet. Sent both back...only to realize they just microwaved them. I guess I could accept this if Heather's dish wasn't $15.00! If there wasn't a pandemic, it would be 1 to 2 stars max. Understaffed - needs a busboy. They have the host seating people, but also bussing tables and God knows what else. Took 10-15 min to even put a name in for a table. After seating the waitress was OK for the most part. But on the run so much that she couldn't attend the table well. Only gave me 1/2 cup of coffee for a refill. At $3.50 a cup for coffee, I would've expected better service than that. Cook prepared the breakfast food very well. All in all, I will return, but have to schedule time available to offset the poor service. Workers are run ragged, so this is obviously a management problem. Give some leeway though, because of the pandemic status. read more

Just go to Ken's. A year and a half ago my husband and I went here and my milk was rotten, the service was slow and they brought our pancakes about 20 minutes later than everything else. This past weekend, we decided to give them another chance. The service was fine (why there are two stars and not one), but it started with a dirty bathroom...which led to: dirty tea cup, $2.50 for a teeny half-filled mug of unmixed Swiss Miss, hair in the hashbrowns, and a dirty water glass. At least our waitress was attentive and gracious. For these prices, just go somewhere else and save your IHOP excursions for when you're on the mainland. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to eat at IHOP for the first time in our lives... and we expected way more then we got. First off, my boyfriend ordered the sampler and the waitress asked if we wanted it to be brought out before our dinner and we still got it last. Then he ordered the pancake combo and substituted the pancakes for rice. When our food came, he had hard hashbrowns, hard rice, and pancakes (which we weren't even suppose to get). I initially order the pot roast melt and was informed AFTER I had already ordered that they ran out. Then i ordered the chicken crepes and asked for there to be NO ONIONS. When my food came, my crepe was filled with onions ! (Im not allergic to onions but what if i was, i could have gotten a reaction) Please improve taking orders, and fulfilling what the customers wants. Came here years ago when they first opened and was totally not impressed with the food or service. Vowed never to eat here again. But, halmuni and my kids love it here so I gave in and decided to give them another try. Stopped by Sunday at lunchtime (there was a short wait) and the place was packed. We were seated fairly quick and our server was Loke. She was pleasant and bubbly which was so nice to see after my first experience there. Our food was delicious and no complaints here. I had the egg, sausage, bacon, hash browns and a side of cheesecake pancakes smothered in strawberries. The pancakes were a touch sweet but the cream cheese gave it a smooth, rich creamy taste. Hash browns were nice and crisp, bacon were thick slices and did I mention the cheesecake pancakes? Will be back on my next trip! read more

My mom, aunt and myself were at the mall, and my aunt said, "let's eat at ihop" we were hungry, thirsty and tired and it seemed like a good idea. Holy crackers. Let's start with first things first, shall we? We walked in, no hostess, no servers, no employees to be seen. We had to walk into the seating area to find someone who just told us to have a seat. She brought our menus and was back every minute to see if we were ready. Tad bit annoying, but okay. Onto food. Took 20-25 minutes for our food to come out! A group of four and another couple who came in after us got their food first. The food was mediocre, fried cheesecake crepe with strawberries, bananas and ice cream was nothing special, my chicken florentine crepes ended up giving me a headache (I'm not saying I'm a crepe expert, but are they supposed to be that chewy and sweet when used in a savory application?) and my aunt's sandwich was overly greasy. Definitely not worth the prices we paid. Overall, I probably won't be back. read more

For under $20 my boyfriend and I were able to eat a filling meal, which was great because we were determined to walk it all off (so we splurged). He ordered the New York Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes with the Ultimate Bacon and Sausage plate (or platter?!) with it. I opted for the Banana Bread French Toast with my eggs over easy, hash browns, and two slices of bacon. We tried each others plates and they weren't half bad. For us Ihop was a time killer, however the service was so darn fast! It was really great because I've been to Ihop before and not been able to enjoy speedy service. Workers and management are very friendly. Always greet you with a smile. Good size portions. Love their pancakes. We always use our Kaukau card when we visit. What's a girl to do on a strange island with a STARVING husband? Well go to IHOP of course. On our honeymoon the first thing we did was find somewhere to eat. Sadly we arrived in Hilo at 8am which meant this was the only decent place to get food. When we got to IHOP we were greeted with real aloha hospitality. The servers were very nice and very awake for 8am. My husband ordered a large amount of food while I ordered oatmeal and a soda. When we got our food we found out they gave us extras. When I got my oatmeal they gave me free milk and extra bananas. They also gave my husband tons of bacon. When we dug in we realized that this possibly was the best IHOP we have ever been too. The service was awesome. They gave us tons of food which was cooked well and was delicious! The staff here made us feel very welcomed in Hilo! Make sure you stop by this awesome location! read more

Went for breakfast with Gene-o on Sunday at 7:45. Ordered a grilled bacon and white cheddar sandwich, basically an omelette in grilled sourdough. The sandwich was really heavy, maybe a half a sandwich would've been better. The pricing is a little high here, even against other IHOPs, but the quality has increased since my last visit over 6 months ago. Also, it seems like the menu has been updated sincey last visit. IHOP in Hawaii is the same as IHOP in any other mainland state, with the exception that the food is roughly $3- $5 more. Staff is very friendly. The location interior is well kept. Parking was a little hard to find. The bathroom does not have a baby changer, you actually have to go inside the mall to find one. read more

This is my favorite spot to come get my salad crispy cobb is excellent, I'm also a fan of there pancakes I'm not usually a pancake eater but this is the place that I can't resist. This is a great location in my opinion. I have to say, since their opening in 2012, the Hilo IHOP has improved significantly: better food, better portions, friendlier and fast staff! Decent prices. Great atmosphere. Always a must on an early morning of shopping at the mall! Kudos managenment and staff! Side note: The free Wifi is a plus! read more
