    Impossible Plant-Based Sausage Power Combo
    Disha F.

Went as a family for breakfast and I thought the food was actually pretty good. I ordered the impossible sausage combo and it came with two impossible sausages, scrambled egg whites, fresh fruits and two protein pancakes. It was a very simple breakfast and it was perfect for what I was craving. The sausages were okay. The pancake with the butter and syrup was really good. Overall the service was good and attentive. We had a nice time. The ambiance was decent, no decor or frills for the new year.

Lipstick on coffee cup. (Not from me!!)

I usually save reviews for great products or services, but today I'm really disapponted in many things about this restaurant. Found lipstick stain on the coffee I was served. Food tasted old or spoiled. And when I obtained a new cup for coffee, the coffee was so watered down and weak I only drank a few sips. (And I love coffee from many places!) I don't know what's going on here at this IHOP but it certainly needs some changes.

Stood in the lobby for 10 minutes while three people worked in the kitchen. We had to go around and ask them if they were open. The man said they are closed. That was at 9:00 pm. The sign says 10:00 pm. So which is it? Not good.

Yummy what a awesome omelette so fulfilling and they put plenty of spinach and mushrooms. You won't go away hungry. My waitress was awesome as well.

The bartenders are consistently on point, which is important when you've been traveling long enough to consider a properly made cocktail a basic human right. The farm-to-table small plates are usually terrific too. Every now and then, a dish may wander off the culinary trail, but honestly, four out of five plates are the kind that make you look at each other and say, "Why don't we live here?" And then there's the rooftop view. At first, you may have to look past the sea of retail stores and parking lots--but once your eyes reach the mountains on the horizon, the view is downright spectacular. Great drinks, very good food, and mountain scenery that manages to rise above the shopping center below: that is a rooftop restaurant worth planning a road trip around.

I have found the front staff and the wait staff to be lacking in their consideration towards restaurant guests. It seems that they are picking and choosing whom they choose to grant a great experience to. Service: The front staff and waitress we had carried an air of attitude when dealing with me and my family. It seemed like they were not keen to accommodate a few of our basic requests which essentially boiled down to laziness. To be honest, they are very petty when it comes to getting a table on their rooftop...when my family (of 5) came in, they told us it was first come first serve and sat us inside. Another family came in with 3-4 adults and 2 kids after we were seated, to which they promptly moved them outside even though they were inside as well when a spot opened up. I'm not truly understanding the mentality of service here and frankly thought for a nice establishment there would be better decorum and attitude towards guests. Food: overall pretty good. I found the food and drink to be solid. In summary, the food is good here but doesn't surpass the service we received.

We ate in the bar - loved the vibe down there! The food was amazing! We started with salads - Caesar for the Hubby (as usual) and the Spring Salad for me (I subbed blue cheese for the goat cheese - I'm not a fan of goat cheese). Both salads were super fresh. They make their dressings in house and it shows. Ribeye rare for the Hubby and Filet mid-rare for me. We both had the crème fresh mashed potatoes. Steaks were cooked perfectly. And let me tell you, if you get anything, GET THE MASHED POTATOES!!! I swear these were the best I have ever had in my life. No joke - that includes my homemade and my Moms and Grandma's. Seriously. It's worthy to note that I asked for salt & pepper, as there was none on the table. It takes a really confident chef to not have salt & pepper on the table. So of course, I tasted first. I honestly did NOT use not one grain of either. The food didn't need it. Everything was seasoned perfectly! We ended the meal with crème brûlée, because if it's on the menu, we are ordering it. It was exceptional! Easily the second best we've ever had - and we've eaten a LOT of crème brûlée in our years. The service was absolutely spot on. There were 3 people working down there on this Wednesday night and they showed incredible teamwork. Super friendly, efficient and very customer service forward. Whenever we are in this area again, we will definitely eat here!!

We were visiting Harrisonburg for the weekend and after looking on Yelp for a good place to have…read moredinner on a Saturday night, we decided on Capital Ale House. Lots of prom kids and college students filled the place. We were quickly seated in a nice booth and Nate our server helped us with some stout beers. We had a milk stout and a caramel macchiato stout the latter of which was the best. Looking at the menu I have to say it was not your standard ale house fair. It was definitely "elevated" in this regard. We asked to split a 2 soft shell entree with broccolini & seasoned mash, a bowl of crab bisque and a pierogi sampler. We also asked for an extra plate, to which Nate said he would take care of it. When the food arrived it was divided perfectly. Nate had split the bowl of soup into 2 small bowls and he divided the entree and sides onto 2 plates. The soft shell crabs were HUGE, the largest I had ever seen, and crisply fried to perfection. The sides were equally exquisite in their flavor and preparation. The crab bisque was loaded with fresh lump crabmeat and perfectly seasoned. The pirogies were also excellent in flavor and presentation. It was the most satisfying meal I'd had in a while (could be because I was craving soft shells) Needless to say we were very happy with the food in every way and were stuffed as we asked for the check. Nate/Nathaniel really made the experience as he was highly attentive, though caring for many tables, and was quick to take care of our every need. The place was really rocking with customers and everyone there was having a great time. We'll definitely be back and let everyone we know what a top notch establishment Capital Ale House in Harrisonburg is.
