Only giving 2 stars because I've had decent experiences there previously and the food is fine. The service on the other hand has gone downhill in a major way lately. Went in for a later breakfast around 12:30 on a Saturday and half of the restaurant was completely shut down and they were mopping the floors. This was extremely off putting as the place smelled strongly of chemicals and made it hard for my husband and I to eat our food. Fast forward to this morning, Wednesday, we went in around 11am for breakfast and there were barely any customers so we assumed it would be a quick experience. Could not have been further from the truth. We waited for 15 minutes once we were seated and were not acknowledged at all or asked for our orders. Two tables were sat after us and got their food while we were still waiting to order. They were actively receiving and making online orders as well. There were 4 employees working front of house so definitely not short staffed for the amount of customers present. We ended up getting up and leaving, and the waitress who was supposed to be serving our section said "thanks for coming in!" To which I replied "you never even took our order...". Abysmal service and will be going to other locally owned breakfast spots for the foreseeable future. read more

The new location is great! I was worried it would be too small since their last location was fairly large, but it's a great size. We were a group of 4 and got seated right away on a Saturday morning. Our server, Brandon was friendly and would check on us constantly. If we asked him for something, he would bring it right away. Other staff members would also walk by and ask if we needed anything. It was Veteran's Day and IHOP gives Vets a free serving of yummy red, white and blue pancakes! So nice. My husband is a disabled vet, so I called IHOP to ask if we could have a takeout order of the pancakes. The young man who answered the phone initially said "No, you have to have your pancakes inside the restaurant", but when I explained that my husband is disabled, he put me on hold and when he came back to the phone, he said he was given the approval to let us do the takeout instead. YES! A short time later, I went to pick up my husband's order of beautiful red (strawberries), white and blue (blueberries) (with whipped cream on top) pancakes and met JUAN who was the young man had been helping me. With a big smile, he handed me the bag and he had even put a note inside the bag which said, "thank you for your service." JUAN is an outstanding employee of IHOP. You made our day! Thank you IHOP. Probably the most sterile IHOP I've ever been in. This isn't a compliment. I mean hospital-antiseptic-smelling sterility. The service was decent, but there were only two groups of three people grabbing food at 6:30 pm (dinner hours, not breakfast). This location was NOT participating in IHOPPY HOURS as of 1/2023 which I had not anticipated, and paying $17 dollars for the same omelette I made myself this morning just seemed silly, made even more so bc of the off-putting smell. Overall, I'm sure they'll iron out the smell thing, and as it becomes common to pay $17 dollars for 2-3 eggs, I might even be back, but that's unlikely for the rest of 2023, or they participate in the $6 IHOPPY Hours. read more

The new Goleta IHOP has arrived! (It is no longer off Turnpike). And let me tell you that IHOP was Hopping! Every seat and table was full. Probably because it is one of the few chains in the area, but also offers reasonably priced food for families and UCSB students. They already have efficient and friendly staff on hand (shout out to Juan as host--though they could use a host stand--and Jasmin as our waitress). Not to mention, it is by far one of the nicest IHOPs I have laid eyes on--possibly because it is brand new. There is even a small outdoor patio with heaters, though I was bummed to not see a kitchen counter to dine at if you're eating alone. There is also a public notice for a pending liquor license for "Bubbles, Wine & Brews" and they offer free public Wi-Fi. Our food was just as expected. I always enjoy their Swedish Pancakes with lingonberries, especially when accompanied by eggs, hash browns and meat. The menu clearly marks what items are gluten-free and high-protein or healthier options. I foresee returning to this location. read more

Went to new location on Hollister Sunday evening. I don't want to put too many complaints because I know they are just getting Started. 5 of us went, food for 2 of us was fine. Service person seemed very confused but I will give him a pass since he was pretty young and maybe not accustomed to working with public. I myself ordered BLT. I don't understand how chef managed to have one half bread toasted and other half not. When I ordered coke server said "we don't have coke" which I understand but he should be trained to offer alternative. The order of Philly cheese Steak sandwich was minus the cheese.
