IHOP is generally hit or miss in my experience - in this case it was a hit in getting my order correct (it's not that complicated honestly - well done pancakes & hash browns w/fruit on the side), but miss w/sloppy inattentive service... Obviously our orders sat in window for a while to bring out w/neighboring table's - cooling off rapidly! My friend couldn't eat her eggs which were almost completely cold; I had to shovel mine down. When we walked in they were about half full and workers kept walking past, but it still took over 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and take us to a table. Sign said Hostess will Seat you, or I would have done it myself. Food and service was typical IHop and the table and chairs were clean without sticky syrup. Ugh, next time IHOP decides to do a promo they really should inform the wait staff exactly how it works! I'm referring to a Gainesville, tx location. They charged me for my drink when it clearly says it's a combo. No unlimited fries either. So I paid 8 something for a burger with bacon and also had to pay for the drink AND the burger wasn't good. The service, at least early in the morning, is terrible. I and everyone that came after me had to wait at least 5 to 10 minutes just to have someone come over and seat us. After that, don't expect to see your server again for at least fifteen minutes. This is with three servers and the place more than 90% empty. Getting your bill and then getting them to cash you out is another time-killing ordeal. All of this for their limited nighttime menu. read more

I find the recent conduct of the Manager, Gloria at the Gainesville IHOP abhorrent in her firing of a server who is an approximate 14 year employee. I have been a customer for much of that time, and have found this particular person an outstanding server, willing to go the extra mile for her customers. She is dependable, and I know there are other servers there who are involved with drugs who are still employees and are allowed to come back to work. She also fired her per a text, after approving of her vacation and then telling her she was fired for not being there on Christmas. If that is your policy, there definitely should be changes at the top levels. Personally, I will not be back to the Gainesville IHOP and will be busy telling everyone I know about your hiring and firing policies. From your review ratings, it looks like you need new management across the board, and not fire the people who are doing the work in your restaurant. I've read a few reviews of this establishment and found all the negative reviews to be false in my humble opinion. We were here for breakfast yesterday and came right back here today (Sunday, 10/18). We were seated almost immediately, kind of nice for noon on a Sunday. The food is great, breakfast menu is full of choices and you can mix or mash up any way you want pretty much. They started me a fresh pot of decaf when I asked for it and service was really really good. I would recommend this to casino patrons heading back to Dallas as a stop to 'fuel up' before the drive back down. Great job girls!! Thank you very much. read more

You would think you can't mess up breakfast, but somehow they did. The iced coffee was watered down and I had to send the french toast back because it still had raw egg on one side and was very soggy. The waitress insisted it was supposed to be that way. After a little prodding she finally took it back. It was the most horrible IHOP I have ever had the displeasure to dine at. The bathrooms were awful I wonder if the use the restrooms because there was no soap and toilet paper all over the floor. Only one star to leave a review. Me and my husband went out for dinner since we were really craving breakfast food. Our server was disrespectful as hell and literally refused to say thank you. Came to ihop for breakfast Thurs morning around 10:30 Nov 15. Very few tables were occupied. Waited in lobby for over 10 minutes to be seated. Two other parties came in while we were waiting and still no one came to seat any of us. Could hear staff talking in the serving area that was not food related. When an employee did finally come to seat us she did not speak other than to say, "Two?". After we sat down we waited another 15 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and another 10 min to receive our drinks. Our meal took 30 to be served and was not hot. Health concerns...as the manager was collecting our online to-go order, my husband and i both noticed the main cook was NOT wearing a mask in the kitchen and then noticed the other members in the kitchen wear wearing masks but not properly...they had them only covering their mouths... when the manager brought us our food, i asked her how often the kitchen were tested for Covid and she asked me why...so i proceeded to point out the kitchen staff while noticing her mask was also only covering her mouth and not bring worn properly...she then informed her kitchen crew that they needed to put on their masks...they got very angry...mainly the main cook who started cursing and told my husband he would show him his card...i only brought it to attention in concern that the food could be contaminated and in order to make sure that everyone in the restaurant was following safety guidelines for everyone's safety (the cooks included)...i was not hateful or ugly about it and was confronted with anger from the cook...i was not going to bring this to corporate attention if the manager could handle this issue but she did not attempt to restrain her cook and we were insulted and ridiculed...i was not thrilled when we left and was only upset when i discovered my food was cold, my crepes were hard and chewy and my eggs were over cooked but i had no choice but to throw it away since i didn't want to go back to have my order fixed after being belittled by the cook and the manager doing nothing to refrain him...i love IHOP...the crepes are my favorite and it was disheartening that we were treated so when my husband took me to my favorite for my favorite breakfast for our valentine's getaway...i will NEVER go back to this place EVER again read more

Have never been to an IHOP where the pancakes were disgusting. Even the second attempt at the pancakes were overcooked on outside and under cooked on the inside, literally falling apart in layers. I usually don't go to Ihop at all. I've been there a couple of times in various cities and the food and service have always been pretty good...that is until today. Family and I went there this morning I had the bacon omlet, my daughter had the veggie omlet, shared between her and my husband and my son had chocolate chip pancakesand his riance had the BlT. My food was really dry and supposed to come with salsa per the menu. My daughter finished her omlet only to state she wish she hadn't finished it so fast pointing out a strand of hair on one of the tomato pieces. The waitress was nice in the beginning, that was until we ordered our drinks me I'll have some coffee please. She hurries off to get it not waiting for the rest of the drink orders. Upon her return we state that our daughter wanted orange juice again she hurries off only to come back to another drink order of orange juice. The waitress: you're kidding right.... No we aren't ok.... Off she went. And comes back with O.J. ... Did I mention she brought an additional omlet that we didn't order and had to send back.Our other guest show up only to not ever be offered a chance to order anything. They stated good thing they weren't eatting. The bill charged for an extra drink. My son paid for it and was like don't worry about it..... I usually love IHOP for a good, affordable meal. Gainesville is still a small town, so your options are limited for dining after a certain time of day or night. I have been to this IHOP four times now and was severely disappointed each time. The tables and seats always have syrup or crumbs everywhere. Each waitress I have had is either a space cadet and cannot recall what I ordered or forgets about me, or worse, they are constantly rushing you out of the restaurant, even though it is never busy and they are 24/7. The worst experience I had was definitely this last one. I took my husband and daughter there for Father's Day. We were only one of two tables in the entire restaurant. Our waitress sat us at a dirty table and was stingy on drink refills. She seemed to forget about us a lot, though we were her only table. My husband and I each ordered the blue cheese and bacon steak meal. This comes with the soup of the day or salad. I asked if I could possibly have fries instead and was told no after my waitress asked the manager, even though I offered to pay the price difference. So my husband and I both ordered the soup of the day. My waitress plopped my soup down (not a good sign when the cheese on top isn't melted) and walked away. She walked by us three times after, not acknowledging that my husband had no soup yet. The fourth time, I politely asked her about his soup, though I was seriously starting to get peeved, since this was his special day. She snapped at me, "Yeah, yeah, it's in the microwave. I just have so much to do!" A) I know this isn't fine dining, but considering you only are serving one kind of soup for the day, I wouldn't expect it to be microwaved. B) Who the heck tells you they're microwaving anything in a restaurant, particularly when it's part of one of the most expensive things on the menu? C) Why did it take 15 minutes to serve a microwaved bowl of soup? And D) Do not tell a customer you're "so busy" when they are your only customer at 10pm on a Sunday. My husband got his microwaved soup with no cheese on top or crackers on the side AFTER we got our entrees, so he had to eat things cold. Our steaks were okay, albeit overcooked with a burnt bacon topping. The waitress brought the bill shortly after the entrees, though we hadn't asked for it, and shoved it under my elbow. We weren't asked beforehand if we wanted anything else and received no attention after the bill was delivered. I guess our one table was too much for the waitstaff. Couple this experience with a separate rushing waitress on a slow Mother's Day, omelettes that are cold on the outside and scalding on the inside, and constantly wrong and poorly timed food, I will definitely not be returning. My family and I eat here regularly and have never had a really bad experience. Sometimes the service is better than others, but the food has always been really good. I think people are more motivated to write reviews when they've had a bad experience rather than a good one and I think this particular IHOP is getting a bad rap.
