We ate at the IHOP in Catonsville this morning. The food was tasty and our server was attentive enough. However, the music was very loud, making conversation difficult at our table. The music was not just loud but was a mix of club and light hiphop, so there was a constant, driving beat. It would have been fine if the volume was about 30 deciBells lower. We also didn't like seeing another server's underwear. Personal dress preference is, of course, fine, but in a food establishment, professional appearance is appreciated. read more

The service is horrible, waited 10 minutes before someone came to the table to let us know she would be over soon. We then saw another table going into the kitchen and getting their own food and bringing it out to their plate. There was another server that came over and she said that our original server is in the bathroom going through a lot and she would be over soon to take our order. It took another 10-15 min for her to come back to take our order. It then takes 30 minutes to get our food. This whole time while we're sitting we don't get any silverware. HORRIBLE SELECTION of somewhere to eat. ordered over the phone. SPECIFICALLY asked for turkey bacon and sausage. The ordered was read back to me correctly and I was still given pork instead. My food was okay, but getting onto the main story, I saw a young male worker fire off on an elderly lady for accidentally ordering the wrong thing. Working in customer service where you're going to have to deal with people like that doesn't mean you get to react that way. How he reacted wasn't in any way appropriate, especially towards an elderly woman. I'm a fan of IHOP much to my wife's chagrin. So we decided to stop at this one on the way home to Ohio. Host seated us quickly and was friendly. Unfortunately, that's where the service ended. We sat for maybe 15-20 minutes without an acknowledgment from anyone. It was quite disappointing, so we got up and left. It is a decent restaurant and the typical IHOP layout. I ordered my food on the website and within 20 minutes made it to the restaurant to pick up my order. There were about 4 people checking out or picking up orders but it was really fast and my order was correct. I would recommend coming here. An old American staple. I've been coming to ihop since I was a boy. My mom and dad would my brothers and I almost every weekend. But I have to say, I haven't been to an ihop in 5 years. This location is literally a hop, skip and a jump from my house. My wife isn't a fan so that's probably why I haven't been in so long but today was a "me" day. I treated myself to the breakfast sampler and was oh so delighted. Everything was prepared well, the wait staff did a great job and I think going in the day time during the week is the best because it was quiet and relaxing. Hear me out: Brianna is the only reason I'm leaving a 5 star review. Everything else was 1 star (or less). Sat at a table and was told Logan would be our server. We waited for like 10 minutes or so, I finally stood up and asked the nearest person (which was Brianna) if Logan was coming out. Seems Logan couldn't be bothered because jasmine tried to help find them but let Brianna know that she would just need to be our full server. She was quick to help us and I apologized that she was put in that position but she was so kind. Before Brianna I was at 0 tip and 0 star though. And I do NOT ever leave 0 tip even in poor service because most people are at least kind and apologize but being completely disregarded by the server is another ballgame I don't think I've experienced before. You'd think that was the end but no, checking out, I remembered IHOP did military discount so I was like hey why not! Brianna waited on a manager to assist but one never showed up. When I realized that's what she was waiting on I was like oh no nevermind. It's Pennys and dollars for a discount, we will just pay. Right when we pay the manager shows up and my partner says "don't worry about it, you took too long" I laughed audibly because I did not know he was gonna say that but seriously those poor girls have to put up with that day in and day out and they don't get to say a dang thing so I'm glad for that split second he at least spoke for them. I've stopped by this location in Inner Harbor on several occasions now, enough to comment that: Yes, service is incredibly slow. Yes, it takes several minutes for you to get seated or paid attention to by any of the servers or hosts at the front desk. Yes, it takes another long wait for someone to take your order and for the food to come out. And Yes, it takes a while for you to get your check (I've had to step up to the registers and ask anyone around for it). Initially I went in to get free pancakes with a coupon. I hadn't had IHOP in ages, so I thought the pancakes for takeout were great- fluffy, hot (which came with a few slices of fresh bananas and artificially colored red strawberries, butter, not-real maple syrup). Next couple times I came to dine in, tried a couple of their Happy Hour $6 items like the cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, ham & cheese omelette, chicken & pancakes. The fried chicken meals were pretty disappointing- the chicken tenders were very dry like dry tough breast meat. It also took almost an eternity for them to prepare the food on 3/4 visits AND THE FOOD CAME OUT COLD at these times. Once, the pancakes were too burnt on the bottom that I had to ask them for new ones. My burger was too cold that I had to ask the server to reheat my food, and she returned another long wait later with the lettuce brown and wilted and told me she had microwaved the dish....... I was expecting them to throw it in an oven but no. The onion rings they give are also quite salty... When I paid attention to what was going on in the kitchen, I could see lines of plates ready to be served to customers, but NO ONE attended to them. I have no idea what the waiters and waitresses are up to (besides blatantly chatting with each other) enough to ignore their primary job of transporting ready-made hot food and letting it get cold! Now that I've had their pancakes on multiple visits, I find them to be too doughy and taste like flour... The servers who also prep the silverware in rolled napkins weren't wearing gloves which draws a question mark on sanitariness. Even IHOP headquarters does questionable business. Ask for Summer! I was craving iHop strangely enough this morning. We usually go to the Glen Burnie location, but had errands to run in Catonsville so we ended up here. Summer was very attentive and brought us everything we asked for. She's very knowledgeable and took good care of us. I went for the griddle combo with sunny side eggs, sausage, hash browns, side of wheat toast, and double blueberry pancakes. Other than the hash browns being a little less crispy than how I would prefer, it was great! Our go to is usually the jalapeño kick burger, which is what my partner had, and it didn't disappoint! We had a great delivery driver and I must say the food was good. The packaging was on point. The Pancakes were tasty . It's understandable that the young lady is new but to receive the bill before receiving our food is crazy. The kicker was she said "are you ready or need more time?" If it wasn't for the second service at church, I would've went somewhere else to eat. First upon entering, the hostess did greet us, but had a hard time finding us somewhere to sear due to most of the tables were not clean. She found us a one spot but the seats were dirty and had to ask both a server and a assume the manager to wipe down the seat. Once the seat was dried and the manager cam back to see if the seat was cleaned, told the server to get us silverware, which she should have gotten ahead of time. After sitting down it was hard to concentrate since it was freezing in the whole restaurant. I had to make my husband go to the car to get me my sweater duster, which didn't help much nor did the coffee. We each ordered our food, and the turn around for our food as not long. However the server was not that friendly. She barely checked on us nor offered refills. My husband had to get up and ask for extra coffee. The food was just ok. My chicken and waffles were ok too. The waffles however were fluffy and cooked well, but I can tell the chicken tenders were refried multiple times (way over cooked). At some point at the end of our meal, you could begin to feel the cold air go down. The server returned and I just waited at the counter to obtain and pay for the food. The server finally came up to me asked if I was ready to pay. Then she brought the check and left. We went with family 6 ppl with 3 kids The place was almost empty 2-3 tables and we still waiting 20 min for no reason, after asking Jeff couple times to to seat with the kids! When i first walked in there was a lot of people waiting which is normal it's a Saturday morning so no biggie but the hostess was going in so many different orders instead of who came in first . First red flag . As we're waiting for food which took an hour wait we no noticed the family behind us got their food first and they came maybe 10-15 minutes after us . The power went out as we were waiting for our food for maybe 3 minutes and of course that put a pause on the food coming out but not by much . When my boyfriends food came they didn't get his order correctly by adding the strawberries and only gave him 1 piece of bacon . While his food came out i still never got my food until like 30 minutes later than him . The waiter tried to be nice by giving us refills but there's soo much wrong that free refills will not do . UPDATE : i asked to speak the the manager and one of the ladies i spoke to was one of the managers and i told her i wanted the whole meal comp , we waited 2 hours , food was wrong & my check came out before my food .
