I stopped by with the family in august on our way to my vegas birthday celebration. It was around 9am on a monday morning. The place was probably 30% full so I thought we would be serviced well. Holy freaking crap was I wrong. It took us at least 12 mins to see our waitress. It took about 15 minutes to get our drinks after the order was put in. We then had to wait for her to return to take our orders and it no joke took around 30 mins to get out food. It was awful. Added onto that, we had two babies with us so it just made the situation more unbearable. The only saving grace for this place was the food was good. It could have been way worse if the food was not cooked well. I greatly enjoy this place for breakfast but the service was just horrific. I would never return. read more

I was traveling home from Vegas, and my girlfriend and I stopped at this IHOP. We stood in front of the hostess stand for at least 10 to 15 minutes and nobody even acknowledged us, let alone attempted to seat us. Yet, there were plenty of tables open. We finally gave up and walked out once we heard how horrible the service was by it customer that was just leaving. They ordered eggs, over easy, but instead, got egg whites, as well as very slow service, in a restaurant that wasn't even busy. Early morning grilled cheese and onion rings for me and breakfast for my hubby. We were the only people in the place at 6:40am. Unlike our other experiences at other iHops..All of our food was fresh, hot and tasty. Our server, Barbara was very friendly and attentive. It was a great half way spot to eat on our drive from N. Before I get started, I just wanted to point out that our waitress was kind. On the other hand We drove out all the way from fort irwin to celebrate my first mothers day. The food was not good at all. My husband ordered a Oreo milkshake, I've been to different locations and they serve you the milkshake in a glass cup with another metal cup with more ice cream to keep pouring. This was not the case here, they gave him the milkshake in a small plastic cup..... The milkshake was $6.79 and had barely anything. I ordered the new mango iced tea and it was warm, had little to no ice and tasted bitter. We got a side of shrimp that was 15.99 and looked good on the menu. What came out for 6 pieces of shrimp was insulting. The shrimp were cold in the middle and you can tell it was just pre frozen fried shrimp and for 16 dollars it was disgusting, the sauce that came with it was sour and my husband and I settled for ketchup instead. We should have known it would all go downhill from here. I ordered a poblano omelette that was cold. My husband ordered the big steak omelette and it tasted like dirty dishwasher water and was also cold. My husband will eat anything but he couldn't finish it so I had to trade with him. Despite all this we got no silverware when served our food and had to ask for some. They gave us silverware and when we unwrapped it from the napkin it was dirty. Not even washed. At that point I was disgusted.I asked the sever for new silverware and she gave us 2 extra sets and said "here's another one just in case. I'll leave a picture of the dirty silverware attached. Cold, overpriced, expensive food that was not up to par. I'm pregnant and started debating if I should even eat it with the risk of food poisoning at this point. So I didn't. This was $70 down the drain. This was insulting. Honestly don't even waste your time coming here. Never have I ever had an experience like this one. The audacity to have these prices and have food that is just plain bad is insulting. read more

What can be a 45min -1hr sit down turns into 2hrs & 30 min. Don't stop here during your road trip it will set you back. They didn't have Turkey, Orange juice, clean cups, or some other menu items. I think we've had breakfast here every time we travel from Orange County to Las Vegas, which is 2-3 times a year. You have to up them one star for just being out in the middle of no-where and the last real city before you hit Vegas - unless you think Baker is a real city. Today, we actually stopped on the way back for lunch - a first. The service is standard fair for an IHop. So is the food. I always find the servers to be nice, but slightly overworked as they appear to be short handed. There was sign today stating they were hiring for all positions. Again, for their location, I'm sure it's hard to find and keep long term employees. The food has always been good. Never had a dish that wasn't IHOP standard. I say that because there are couple IHOPS I visit regularly in OC so I know what to expect. I worry though because I've never seen this place very busy. It might be because we're smart when we travel and avoid peak travel times, but that just adds to why we like this location. As long as it's there though, we'll continue to visit. Came in yesterday morning coming home from Vegas. Hostess was great, got me and my family menus and sat us in the back corner of the dining room. Waited for 5-7 minutes when a white guy in his 20s with long hair made his round and literally said, "I'll be which y'all in a minute." To which my reply was "sure, no problem, take your time." Big mistake in hindsight. We sat for 40 minutes with no drinks, only menus at the table. Other families came in, were seated, and ordered drinks. Other servers saw us, made eye contact, and only tended to their section. I gathered my family, threw the menus on the floor of the dining room, and walked out. The owner ( not manager ) needs to step it up. This location is lame. You're in a town where you can get a-lot more business. The bathrooms are grimey. You need to hire someone to deep clean your bathroom sinks, etc. It took 30 mins for our food when it was hardly busy. My french toast tasted like there was no egg. The strawberries were frozen and thawed out and moosh. Couldn't even pick them up with my fork. The waffle was bland and not hot. The fried food tastes like it was kept in a frozen bag in the fridge and had frost on it then cooked. The owner needs to go in themselves. Look at the cleanliness. Make sure the food is fresh and cooked properly, and add music because there was no music. I wouldn't be surprised if this location is replaced in the next 5 years if a good change doesn't happen for this location. read more

Stopped here with my family on our way home from Laughlin, waited 20 mins to be seated and another family that had just walked in was seated first at the table we were told would be ours. When we inquired about the apparent mishap, Karina shrugged her shoulders and gave us a rude response. No consideration, no apology, no attempt to make it right at all. After reading the reviews now I am glad we left before we were seated. We got in before the rush of people behind us, party of 9 but ok to be seated wherever divided into 2 tables. The host initially told us that they had two tables that they were just cleaning off and it would be 5 minutes. After that she disappeared and another lady was walking back and forth behind the desk..now this IHOP needs to re-evaluate it's process on how they hire their staff because when I say this girl was beyond rude it can't begin to describe her, KARINA, she had the most ghetto attitude, I was seriously dumbfounded. While sitting there waiting, there was an elderly couple just waiting to put their names down and she walks by them and loudly says " sorry I'm on my break idk what's goin on here" yells another girls name and walks out the door..ok..that was a bit much but alright. It's been more than 10 minutes now and we still haven't been seated and now there's a full waiting room and the host is still not back. Karina returns to the front and starts loudly asking where Marissa is assuming that is the host. She goes to the back and is looking for her, you can probably hear her if you were standing outside. Needless to say, this IHOP is crazy disorganized. Karina returns to the front and looks at the list and to herself groans and says under her breath "oh my goddd". She then proceeds to sit a party of 3 that arrived after us, we noticed that she had sat them at a table that the hostess had said they were cleaning off for us. So when she gets back we tell her that we have been waiting over 20 minutes now and that she had sat another party at the table that we were supposed to have and then with the ugliest attitude she tells us that we should've told her.. like when? How were we supposed to know where she would be seating the other party? Where is the hostess? Why is she here in the front dealing with the patrons when she is obviously not a people person with that attitude lol She then tells us they can't seat anyone else anymore because they're at capacity. We tell her that we've been here before everyone and we don't mind that our tables can be separated wherever. I don't understand how they are letting this lady deal with customers because she doesn't know how to talk to people normally, maybe she is just naturally loud and has an ugly personality, just seemed like she hated her life but that's no ones fault. She replies with well idk what to tell you we can't seat anyone else and asks if we want to talk to the manager. At this point we want to talk to anyone else but her lol she goes to get the manager and you can hear her yelling at the manager telling her what's going on with our party and then comes back right when the hostess returns from God knows where. The hostess proceeds to tell Karina that she should've told us about our party, you can tell that the hostess was like scared of Karina haha I would dread working with someone like that tbh. Anyway, Karina proceeds to sit 2 more parties after she had just told us that they cannot sit anymore people! At this point, we've had it, we told her to just sit us anywhere and then she continues to say she can't seat anyone right now and that she already told her manager about us.. just her attitude alone was the worst I've experienced at a restaurant, we all decided to just leave. As we were walking out she had the audacity to yell "goodbye have a nice day" like wtf? Steak should never be frozen. I wish I would have taken a picture. It looked awful. I was surprised they even brought it out and served it. The hash browns were under cooked. Everything seems so subpar even the pancakes. I couldn't finish my plate, and I'm not one to leave food on my plate. Even when I'm full I take leftovers home, not this....the texture was like plastic. Like the YouTube videos of fake food that looks real. I send the steak back so fast....oh boy...never again. If you get seated next to the kitchen you will get a chance to hear kitchen conversations. The server was very polite and accommodating and I feel bad I send the food back but I just couldn't with gray steak. It looked like it was boiled...yikes. It was just before noon on Saturday when we came in. Although there were just three customers eating and two servers, it took five minutes to be seated. Our server, Marissa, was friendly and she is the reason this is not one star. No question about that. We ordered chicken and waffles and a beef bowl. Two more customers came in. It then took just over 30 minutes to get our food. After a 30 minute wait, my waffle arrived cold. Not warm, or Luke warm, but cold. I brought this to the server's attention and she offered to microwave it to warm it up or to have the kitchen make another one which would take even longer. I was irritated. The food is expensive as it is, so to get it cold is unacceptable. As I told the server, this is not OK and who gets to deal with irritated customers? Not the people in charge, not the cook who took forever to create this food. If you are passing thru and have a destination, this is probably not the place for you. This will be the last time we stop to eat in Barstow. It is a withering town with people who obviously do not care about having customers return. Not cool. read more

As my friends and I pulled into Barstow to charge our Tesla at the local supercharging station, we were famished, and the majority of us became excited at the sight of the ihop that was across the street from the charging station. One friend was hesitant and pleaded that we go to El Pollo Loco instead, but we dismissed him because it was barely 10 am. After the horrible experience we had at ihop, we should have listened to our friend and gone to El Pollo Loco instead, or AT LEAST Denny's. First off, the place was definitely not busy (50% full at most), and we were placed in a booth off to the side of the restaurant. We were greeted by our waiter who, honestly, was not the brightest bulb on the planet. We asked her for two minutes to look at the menu, and she returned maybe 15 minutes later with water for us, which we had asked for upon being seated. She takes our order, and we wait patiently for our food for about thirty more minutes before we start getting restless. Groups that got seated after us got their food and started eating when we were there well before them. We start wondering what is going on when we see a group of waitresses and their manager around the register, and we have a feeling that something happened with our food. By now, it has been at least 45 minutes since the waitress took our order, and we did not receive any information on the status of our food, or refills on our water, despite all the waiters darting concerned looks towards our table. Perhaps, if they had been the ones to initiate a conversation with us, and told us what was going on, we would have been a little more understanding in writing this review. However, that was not the case. We had to flag down a waitress and ask about the status of our food, because we still haven't gotten our food, or more water since apparently they expect water to appear out of thin air or expect us to wait for our ice to melt, who knows? This waitress was very nice, apologized and went to go see what was happening in the kitchen. She returned shortly after saying that something happened with the printer in the kitchen and that our food was being prepared now. We wait about fifteen minutes more for our food, and when we finally get it, we cannot help but notice that the food was just sloppily thrown on a plate and looked disgusting, and did not taste great either. We do not even care at this point because we are so hungry from the drive, the wait, and the LACK OF WATER. Next time, we will listen to our friend and go to El Pollo Loco instead. read more
