I am here when we came in. The young guy took forever to go to the front door because he was on his phone. He did not look up and greet me until he was finished with his texting conversation. He took our order. My order did not look like the menu. Maybe he was the only one here. I tried to get his attention numerous times. Wish we read the reviews before we went here... Can't really leave a review for the food being we never got service after being seated. After sitting for 20 mins and not even getting a drink we ended up just walking out. Luckily we didn't get any drinks and have to wait to pay for anything because we probably would have to wait longer to leave. I've given this IHOP multiple chances, but every time I visit, they're out of something--whether it's basic breakfast items like eggs and bacon or even pancakes, which is what they're known for! The last time I went, they were out of half the menu, and the service was slow, even though the place wasn't that busy. Went to ihop, out of town to get my sister breakfast before surgery. Service was TERRIBLE, god awful, and non existent. The server played hide and seek with us for 20 minutes, they gave one of the customers the money they payed with back as their "change". Never came to our table after seating us, and it should've been a red flag when a napkin taped to the register said "Out of order" in all caps. There was a question about this place, as we walked in it was noticed quickly that we were only one of two tables in the place. Still yet we decided to eat. The food was good, however we had to explain to the waitress what should have been in each meal and she argued at first it was correct, before correcting it, after being shown the actual menu and it's description. If I could give this restaurant a zero, I would. The service was awful and we never received our food after waiting well over an hour for a table of 2. Tables next to us placed to go orders after we placed our order and they received their food before we did. Tables that arrived after us also received their food first. I can only assume they forgot about our order. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told they were in the back cooking. It wasn't even that busy! We hadn't been to this IHOP in two years. We went in about 3:50 pm. Our server was so good. Very professional and sweet. We were the only customers in the restaurant. We didn't realize they Joe close at 4:00pm! She never seemed irritated that we had come in so close to closing. I know from working at a restaurant how horrible this can be when tables come in at closing time and you are trying to do your side work so you can go home. read more

Order didn't get taken until we'd been there for 40 min after seating, yes, I know, we should have left already. Because every single waiter or waitress that has worked here is completely illogical and barely has any etiquette. For example, does it make sense to take payment from six different people all requesting separate tickets, before taking the order of a family whom you've just given drinks to? Their logic: Give family drinks, then leave family without taking order first to take payment from said individuals. Went to eat here was 3 of us. Had a waiter walk by us multiple times, even when attempting to call him, he ignored our table like the plague, after 30 minutes of sitting we finally got out order placed. As we placed our order, a big party was barely being seated and the waiter who ignored us took their order. Another 30 minutes go by and the big party gets their order out, and we still sat there waiting with nothing. Another 30 minutes we asked where our order was and it wasn't even being made, and the waiter who kept ignoring us was taking more orders out. This waiters name is Johan. He tried to play innocent, but if you are not his table or don't seem like you will give him a tip he will ignore you. We walked out after waiting for an hour and a half. There was such more than just this that were wrong with this place. Got seated by the hostess, then waited about 5ish minutes before we started a timer to see how long it took for a waitress to take our order. After 7 minutes on the timer and and having multiple waitresses walk right by us, making eye contact AND A MANAGER, finally some one asked if we had been helped. So the girl went to try to hunt down how's table we belonged to. The waiter came out after walking by us three times, threw his dirty table cleaning rag and asked us not so politely what we would like. We order two ice teas and two orders of chicken and waffles. He brought out two half full ice teas, no straws (straws are a big deal for me) then about 5 minutes later comes out to inform us that the waffle machine is broken. After telling him politely that that's all we really wanted, we would just stick with the teas, he walked off. We had to hunt him down to see about our tab so we could pay and leave. IHOP Artesia has one of the worst managers I have seen in a long time. We were seated and there was only one waitress on the floor. We had to wait 15 min just to get coffee. The manager just walks around seating people. He could have gotten the coffee to begin with. When we saw him walking around we asked for coffee. One would think he would have hussled to get the coffee and help out his only waitress, but that didn't happen. This by far is one of the worst managed restaurants I've ever been too.
