Artesia restaurant review. (2022). This time at Road Runner in Artesia, NM. I was in the mood for…read moresouthern comfort foods and chicken fried steak happened to be on the menu. The name can be confusing, but all that means is that there are spices, normally used to add seasoning to chicken that are added to the breading. The Texas chili that came with it was in a small cup, but every mouthful was so satisfying, it was just what the doctor ordered and I actually ended up taking half of it home. Definitely 4/5 (would have preferred a ratio of more steak less breading, as we were searching for it while eating leftovers. Not that the breading isn't delicious enough on its own (oh it is!)). I would highly recommend McAllister's for a wonderful deli experience.

And after our experience, I wish I had recommended we stopped by another restaurant in a more central part of town. We arrived at approximately 12:40 PM. The restaurant was at less than half capacity. We ordered chips with queso. I should have realized that if a restaurant can't get that and salsa right its a HUGE red flag. The chips were incredibly salty and the queso was dried out overly salty. It did anything but fill our stomach while we waited 40 mins for a chicken quesadilla, the "foot long burrito " see pictures and, beef enchiladas. The quesadilla was average and contained what tasted like boiled chicken. The "burrito" was nothing near a burrito. It was the width of an enchilada. I paid an extra $3.00 for queso on my burrito which was the saving grace. However, that made it barely edible. The beef enchilada plate had one flavor, chili powder.
