Popped into Alma's on 11.22.2025 for breakfast burritos to-go for our roadtrip. I didn't realize there was a drive-thru, but I would have never saw all the Artesia High Bulldog memorabilia inside the restaurant if I had used it. Service was fast & friendly. Our burritos were huge! A medium black coffee, two bacon-cheese-egg burritos & one chorizo-egg-cheese-potato burrito set me back $31.45. The stacked beef enchiladas with egg and green sauce first of all had the consistency of MUSH! The egg was like rubber! And the green sauce... it was green! Absolutely NO flavor. They cater to the locals I noticed as several diners were seated after me and served before me. As a weekly traveler, I try and make a good choice based on reviews. This was the worst! read more

While in New Mexico we were looking for a good place for breakfast and we found it. The service was fantastic very friendly and we felt like family. While on a recent adventure I ended up in Artesia NM for the night. Never one to let a new location go to waste, of course I tapped into the Yelp consciousness to find a place to eat. The reviews of Alma's were promising. Unfortunately, my experience was not on par with what I read. Walking through the door, the ambience was very plain, almost boring. I decided to stick around after seeing one of my favorites on the menu. When I lived in Tucson AZ, I loved when I could get barbacoa (beef cheeks). When done right, it is amazing. Alma's was not done right. It lacked any real flavor and was very greasy. Very disappointing. All I ordered was the burrito platter and it set me back $14. Ouch. It had beans and rice and a burrito. That's it. No other accouterments. For the price, this was underwhelming and overpriced. On a positive note, the service was good and friendly. Granted, I only tried one thing and I won't be through here again but based on my experience I would try someplace different given the opportunity again. read more

Friendly little restaurant. All 3 of the ladies who were working were kind and attentive. They seemed to have a regular set of customers because they knew everyone by name. Nice touch. The chips and salsa were very good before the meal so I had high hopes. Unfortunately the spice from the salsa was not matched by the red Chile in the enchiladas and it was slightly disappointing. While trying to tame my lion hunger, I looked up a place to eat and found Alma's! I ordered Beef Fajitas with rice and beans. I got exactly what I ordered and they didnt charge extra for the food being so cold. There's nothing like eating cold beef along with cold rice and cold refried beans. Plus super cold flour tortillas! Mmmmm! Yummy! All for $19.00. It was worth the 35 minute wait! Enjoy! By the way "Alma" translates to "soul"...the cold food made my soul shiver! read more

So far 3 breakfast plates in a row have been consistently good. I order steak and fried eggs w/salad replacing potatoes along with refried beans and a flour tortilla. Medium rare-medium steak every time as requested, great salsa and great service! read more

Cleaning place, they even wiped each chair's back carefully! Food is delicious here except guacamole. Portions are big, enough for two to share with some sides. read more

Awful. Was excited based on reviews. I got a breakfast burrito and the potatoes were raw. Raw. Not undercooked. Raw. I tried unsuccessfully to cut a chunk with a fork. I NEVER send food back but I couldn't even eat it so I did. The server asked if I just wanted it without the potatoes and, frankly, didn't seem to concerned about it. Got it back and it was OK but nothing special. I have never given a one star review but this experience got close. Terrible. read more

As a New Mexican now living in Austin (and with all respect for the breakfast taco culture in the Capital City), I miss the widespread availability of breakfast burritos. On a recent trip to Artesia, NM, I immediately began inquiring amongst the locals as to where I could find the best breakfast burrito in town the next morning. Every person I asked pointed me towards Alma's. Saturday morning came, and I found Alma's in a nondescript building on the west end of town. The interior was basic, but very interestingly adorned with dozens of photos of athletes from Artesia High School. I ordered the "bulldog burrito," which advertised itself as containing everything but the kitchen sink. My girlfriend ordered the scrambled egg breakfast. The service was fairly friendly and efficient, and the large dining room was populated with what appeared to be local regulars. And then the food arrived. My girl loved her eggs and raved about the bacon. The bulldog burrito? As it arrived at the table, I knew immediately it was far too big a serving for me to finish. I dug in with knife and fork, and let's just say it was a slice of back home heaven. The eggs, the meat, the potatoes, the peppers: ay caramba! Definitely one of the best breakfast burritos I've had, and it was so much food that it actually doubled for dinner that night. We loved the food, and we look forward to returning the next time we are in southwestern New Mexico. read more

Did not anticipate the long wait for burritos to go despite being forewarned. Waited for over 30 minutes. Totally get the short staff. Waitress that took our order was super sweet...but still. The menu varies nicely. Both Mexican and American choices. They have a breakfast and salad bar. Breakfast served all day. The service was exemplary. The atmosphere is very family friendly. The restaurant and restroom was clean. The food was very good. Mexican selections with green chili is pretty spicy. Hubby has huevos rancheros. Plenty of food, homemade tortillas and yummy. Last year I came in for lunch on Saturday to have the menudo they only sale on the weekends. I've had it before and it's pretty good, except they were sold out. A year later, I came in to eat the menudo and again they were sold out! Waitress told me I had to get there earlier, I told her maybe they should make more. I instead ordered the Chile relleno's and was even more disappointed because there was no sauce on the Chile's. My sons green Chile enchiladas were too spicy for him and they didn't even look appetizing. I won't be eating here again. read more

Local favorite and a hidden gem. Menudo was spicy, fresh, and tender. Barbacoa was clean and tender. Chicken strips and steak tenders were large and filling. A must stop in Artesia. read more

Gonna go with a there here, and it was mostly about the service. The food was good. The beef tips on Green chili and onion sauce was tasty, though a bit salty. Great heat, just right. The refried beans were perfect. We also ordered a releno, and asked for green sauce. It arrived without sauce. I chased the waitress down and asked about the sauce and she said that she would get it. We didn't see her for another 10 minutes, and she never brought the sauce. We took the plate over to the kitchen and asked someone else for the sauce. Always extreme good food with a wide range of options, service is typically speedy and on top of everything (besides the coffee occasionally), and they are very nice as well. They even have a drive through that is great for calling in to get it to go. Don't see how anyone could not give almas 5 stars read more
