Good food, if a bit oversalted, and definitely worth the low prices. Excellent service as well!

TLDR: COME FOR THE PINTXOS. HARD PASS ON THE MENU. Pintxos are self-serve at the bar. Once you're…read moredone eating, check out with the waiter--they'll count and charge you per toothpick. NGL, I'm someone who gets overwhelmed and gets tunnel vision. I'm a sheep following the shepherd-- in this case, if you throw your body & a menu in front of me, I'll easily walk in. I'd seen great reviews online about their namesake pintxos, but the menu had so many options and none that clicked with what I was looking for. I was hungry, so I sent it and ordered a few items from the classic tapas: the Squid in Ink Croquette and the Patatas Bravas. The croquette was incredible and so flavorful, while the Patatas Bravas were the complete opposite. The potatoes tasted bland and stale, and the sauce on top was just... meh. I hated how let down I was!! As I was finishing up my meal, I noticed a few people coming in and were sitting at the bar--not usually the most go-to spot when there are plenty of tables open. However, as soon as they sat down, they began grabbing items from the display. I went to check it out and lo and behold--PINTXOS!!! I asked my waiter, and he explained the process: pick what you want, enjoy and pay for what charge you grab at the end. And honestly? They looked and tasted so much better and were way more affordable than what I ordered!! Disappointed I spent so much money, but consider this a lesson for anyone reading!

The place had a welcoming vibe, and pintxos were on offer, so we figured why not? Overall, it was a good lunch, but the selection of pintxos was pretty limited - not nearly as robust, creative, or flavorful as a few other places we'd tried earlier in the week across town. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Service was okay - efficient but not particularly warm or engaging. You definitely get the sense this is a spot that sees a lot of tourists, and the staff may be a little weary of that constant flow. At the table next to us, a group of fellow American travelers were all eating burgers and fries... which kind of summed it up. That said, the location is convenient, and if you're nearby and want a quick bite in a casual setting, it's not a bad choice. Just don't expect to be blown away. 4 stars

As the kind gentleman mentioned, La Boqueria was just too busy and this smaller market had a better pace for Pinotxo. They have a counter with 10 bar stools and open kitchen format with food displayed at the counter. I can see seating becoming a premium as the day progresses. I arrived shortly after they opened and already there were 3 customers ordering Cafe Con Leches and Xuxos. I did the same with my Xuxo to go. I saw they had Octopus Galician style and despite the am hour couldn't resist. Pinotxo's version was very good-that said, I've had more tender Octopus. Definitely a Tapa size and pricey for the portion but gave me my fix for one of my favorite dishes before leaving Barcelona. I saw Tripe and Beef cheeks on the menu and asked one of the servers which one? She gave me a look of "I can't decide"meaning can't go wrong with either. Ordered the Beef cheeks as I've never had it. Rich, decadent and definitely not a breakfast meal-I liked it! I was told the white cubes were collagen and not fat. Definitely a dish to try. Cafe Con Leche was excellent! The Xuxo (one of Jose Andres's favorites) was amazing! Like a donut, a little bit of flakiness of a croissant and filled with this rich, delicious Crema and as if that wasn't enough coated with sugar. We loved it! One of those delicacies that sells out early. Service was engaged and friendly from all of the people behind the counter. They are located inside the Market at one of the corners (Tamarit/Urgell) before the exit. Make this stop for Xuxos and some delicacies you won't find at your typical spots in the area.

Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. I came here for lunch, and thankfully I didn't have to wait too long before I got seated inside. The interior is a bit on the smaller side, but it's quite bright with a lot of natural sunlight inside. For the food, I decided to get squid, codfish with honey allioli, and iberian ham montaditos. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me. If you just get one things when coming here, definitely make sure not to miss this dish. Highly recommend checking this place out for Spanish tapas, they represent the cuisine well!

Everything at the bar was cold like smoked salmon, anchovies, pickled peppers, goat cheese, tartlets, etc. A waiter did come around once in a while with a hot offering of croquettes and a mini hamburger with caramelized onions.
