I rarely take the time to write a review but felt that my experience at I-Geeks required the time. I went to I-Geeks with the intention of fixing my screen after it had fallen from hands. Luckily, it landed on soft sand/grass and wasn't damaged to badly. The initial insult was located at the bottom of the screen. The phone was functioning and receiving messages, phone calls, emails, taking pictures etc. The only thing that was distorted was the imaging in the bottom left corner. I wanted to get it fixed because this was the beginning of my travels and was visiting six other cities in California. The first technician was kind and well mannered. He told me the issue was not the screen but a LCD that needed to be replaced. He told me to come back in thirty minutes and I did just that, retrieving my phone. The technician told me that there was a little area on the top right corner that was distorted and that he could give me 10% off or a protective screen. I opted for the protective screen (which never really was secured on my phone). The total was $140.00
The following day, my phone service completely stopped working. I took the time to visit a Verizon store in Little Italy, San Diego and they told me it was not my SIM card or actual phone but internal damage. I called IGEEK and the technician on duty told me to come back to the store that they would be happy to look at it. When I arrived, the technician (if I remember correctly) stated he was the owner. He opened up my phone and stated I had water damage. He also did some manipulating (removal of the battery etc.) to reactivate service. Whatever he did, my phone service began working. I assured him I had not been around water and he condescendingly repeated, "I've been doing this for a long time. It's water damage." I tried to get in a word and explain my prospective but it was useless. He kept cutting me off and was very defensive. He showed me the internal part of my phone and was pointing out everything that was wrong with it , stating "my technicians would never do that." He showed me what he did and placed a cover over what I believe was the battery. Regardless, if he was the owner he should never speak to costumers in that manner. My husband owns three successful businesses and I know how business owners should act. Basic respect and open communication. Furthermore, my actions were not deliberate or offensive. I have no clue about phones nor do I understand what it is your showing me internally that is wrong with my phone. All I know is that I was not around water and one day my service was working and the following day it was not. This exchange can be viewed as subjective but another person was in the room confirming his actions and calling him a "douche." This isn't an appropriate term to use but it does signifies his behaviors were not aligned with proper business etiquette.
I left there with my phone reactivated and it was working. For one more day....the service continued to go in and out and eventually stopped working all together. My phone would not even turn on. All that was visible was the apple symbol. I was so upset given the fact that I was visiting places and relied on my phone to take pictures and communicate with my family. I went to Napa Valley and Muir Woods with the inability to take pictures and lost all data. I lost a total of 14,000 pictures (64 GB) which had not completed an I cloud back up due to the inability of my phone to connect to WIFI. I was forced to visit yet another phone repair shop in San Fransisco who told me basically my phone was done. Not to mention, my entire trip was consumed by a non functioning phone. How many people can function without a phone? It's sad to say but the truth. It was a HUGE inconvenience.
End result, I flew back home this past Wednesday evening and had to purchase a new I phone. I regret taking my phone to this place and should have just kept it as it was until I got home.
To the owner, I hope you find my review enlightening and take something away from it. I know you can't make everyone happy and I wish I wasn't one of the unhappy costumers. My intentions are not to be insulting or say you do not do good work. This was my experience and this is what happened. read more
