The Melbourne Cellular Centre at the Alexandra Parade end of Brunswick street is very basic, but also very helpful. While I haven't bought a phone from here - although they do offer some very cheap Optus packages (they only deal with Optus) - they have helped me a number of times with my pre-paid internet. While they did try and push a broadband package for my entire house, I did end up going with the much more simple alternative of a pre-paid internet USB stick. Now every time I am having a problem or if I need to stock up on more credit, I head to MCC - the staff are always very sweet.

Okay, despite being a bit of a computer geek (though I wonder how one defines a computer geek these…read moredays since pretty much everybody used computers) I generally don't spend all that much time in computer shops. Maybe it is because I generally don't buy all that much - all I the software that I use is freely available, and I generally only get hardware when I absolutely need it - that I don't visit many computer shops. This place isn't bad, though the staff are only knowledgeable on the stuff that most people use, so if you come with a question like 'does this work on Linux' there response is - it should. Also, if you are looking for component parts (such as a power supply) then unfortunately you won't find any here. In a way it is a store that deals specifically with computers, and really only stuff that the average user would require. They also tend to be a little more expensive that some of the other store, but at least they do know a little more than your average salesperson at Dick Smiths.

I took it back and told me I had to pay again explaining that the crack was the reason it stopped. A month after I had the new screen, the screen stopped working again but had no crack and hadn't been dropped. I called to ask for a free replacement because the screen he fitted was faulty but he became extremely irate and told me I had to pay. He said that it only comes with a week guarantee (which he never told me) and if I want a longer guarantee I need to pay $50 more at the time of getting the screen replaced. WHY ON EARTH WOULD I PAY $70 FOR A PHONE TO WORK FOR ONLY ONE WEEK! He yelled and me and told me it's my fault that I didn't ask about how long the screen should last for. He also told me that if I don't like the quality of the screen then I shouldn't go back there. Which I wasn't planning to - I just wanted my free replacement for the dodgy screen. I liked Tap in the beginning and recommended him to all my friends but after this I don't have a nice word to say about him. I also have the feeling he gets these phone calls a lot because what he was saying was very rehearsed. A little bit of customer service goes a long way and unfortunately for him he has no customer service at all. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
