I got the pamphlet with a list of all the different plans, deals, and providers and ended up choosing a certain one. A few seconds later he pointed me towards another plan that was half off that he forgot to mention, which saved me about 40 dollars. Not too pushy, helpful, and saves me money. What a great guy.

Two levels of technology from mobile phones of all kinds to home phone services, internet and Foxtel. Telstra can provide it all. They're usually efficient - there is a door greeter who will write down what you are after and find the appropriate staff member to help you out. There are also three desks around - the desk on the bottom floor is for general billing enquiries and pre-paid top ups and activations. Upstairs you'll find more phones and more staff with one desk being dedicated to mobile phone repairs and replacements and more billing enquiries. The final desk in the back corner is dedicated to tech-support such as software upgrades and fixing faulty phones. This store is for Telstra customers or those looking to join the Telstra network.

The Melbourne Cellular Centre at the Alexandra Parade end of Brunswick street is very basic, but also very helpful. While I haven't bought a phone from here - although they do offer some very cheap Optus packages (they only deal with Optus) - they have helped me a number of times with my pre-paid internet. While they did try and push a broadband package for my entire house, I did end up going with the much more simple alternative of a pre-paid internet USB stick. Now every time I am having a problem or if I need to stock up on more credit, I head to MCC - the staff are always very sweet.

We had discovered Global Gossip whilst we were there…read more We tracked down this shop pretty quickly to: a) let all our friends and family know we had arrived b) convert our Global Gossip card to work in Australian Dollars from New Zealand dollars c) find out about mobile/cell phone options. This store was extremely helpful. They converted hubby's card and we got a second card for me. They also provided us with a sim card which at the time was on Vodafone (I have no idea one year on whether they are still provided by Vodafone). There are a number of internet terminals available. Additionally there are points where you can plug in your own netbook/laptop. Long opening hours. Close to many shops, restaurants and attractions. Superb. If you need a way to communicate with friends and family who are overseas I would definitely suggest checking out Global Gossip!
