Maybe it is because I generally don't buy all that much - all I the software that I use is freely available, and I generally only get hardware when I absolutely need it - that I don't visit many computer shops. This place isn't bad, though the staff are only knowledgeable on the stuff that most people use, so if you come with a question like 'does this work on Linux' there response is - it should. Also, if you are looking for component parts (such as a power supply) then unfortunately you won't find any here. In a way it is a store that deals specifically with computers, and really only stuff that the average user would require. They also tend to be a little more expensive that some of the other store, but at least they do know a little more than your average salesperson at Dick Smiths.

I had heard that the store can get busy so there might be a wait, however when I arrived there weren't any other customers. The three sales guys nearly fell over themselves to serve me.Once that was sorted, the assistant was very helpful with some great advice. Was not able to view a computer case out of the box before paying for it because then they "would not be able to sell the item as new". Fair call? You decide. To me it was frustrating. Three stars due to unhelpful customer service, bordering on rude. I wanted to award less but I'm taking into account that I really need a coffee!

I dropped the box to them at 11am on a Saturday and had it back that same morning all fixed for less than the cost of a few pizza's! They diagnosed the problem quickly, replaced the fried part and gave me tips on getting the machine to run more efficiently. After trying a few different cables (and I'm not sure exactly how I managed to acquire them), I was forced to accept the inevitable. My phone had turned into an expensive brick. I checked into MKC in Melbourne's city centre after finding them online. My iPhone had stopped recognising when it was connected to recharge, so I took it in and was told it'd probably be either the battery itself or the dock that accommodates the cable. The conversation went like this: Me: Hello. My iPhone is a brick. MKC: What's wrong with it? Me: (Explained what was wrong with it). MKC: Oh. That'll probably be the battery or the cable dock. Me: Can you fix it? MKC: Probably. Give us an hour and $79. 60 minutes later, I was handed back a fully operational, functioning phone. Brilliant. Staff were friendly and straight-talking. I was happy with the price. I hope I don't have to visit again, but if things go sideways, MKC will be my first port of call.

I took in my old hard drive that had stopped working and they were nice enough to run some diagnostics on the drive to test it and make sure it was still fully functional before i spent the $35 on a new enclosure (absolute bargain btw). I had had a price match approved by your online team (I am a business customer and they were matching an existing business discount) and Patrick picked up my call mid way through a conversation with a VERY FRIENDLY sales assistant and decided that he wouldn't be honouring what had already been approved by the JB Business team AND the JB online team and although he could see three different invoices that had been issued with the discount, decided he was the messiah of JB HiFi and the overall decision maker for the whole company and he would not be honouring the deal. For a store manager, Patrick had absolutely no customer service skills, was combative, rude, continually spoke over me and cut me off and would not listen to what I was trying to explain even though it was shown on the three invoices he was able to look at. As a result of this I will be taking my business for this purchase and ALL other future purchases for myself and my business elsewhere, even if I have to pay full frieght on the products to ensure that I am treated fairly and with respect.

I selected the $27 shipping option, they sent it via the $15 shipping option. I queried the reason for the variation and was happy with their response however as soon as I requested the difference be refunded I have been ignored. I also requested information on their returns policy, the same person asked me for the order number then ignored my response. Summary i ordered and received the product in a reasonable time with minimal fuss. I wont go back because I dont trust their customer service.
