I'm an executive assistant for a c-level tech executive, so I've done a million events from 4 attendees to 3,000 attendees. With many caterers, they will jump through hoops for your large events, but won't even talk to you for your small events. We recently had a small 7 person brunch and lunch event at my boss' home in Atherton. I spoke to a handful of different caterers and they didn't seem to understand the white glove service I was looking for. I felt so good after chatting with Nicolana from IDK. She really took the time to listen to what I was looking for, and went out of her way to deliver for me. We did a fancy mimosa brunch and wine paired lunch. Both came with multiple dishes and the team LOVED it. We opted for a fusion Indian theme and they brought a tandoori and the food and flavors were amazing. We were so impressed with the wine pairing as well, since Indian spaces are difficult to pair with. Once the event was done, they cleaned our kitchen and dining area and made it look even better than when they first started. Thank you so much Nicolana and Chef Jai. We had hired IDK caterers for our wedding celebration last weekend. The decision was an extremely disappointing one for us as hosts and family. There were not one but various major issues with the service. 1. The amount of food being served was limited and all the guests had to wait for long periods of time between the servings. Many of the food items like roti and paratha were not even served. 2. We witnessed a lot of rudeness from the staff while interacting with family and friends, which is very unexpected since one doesn't expect this from someone in service industry, let alone basic human manners. 3. Coming to major part, we had 2 main desserts that we primarily had in the menu while they added 1 more complimentary dessert to the menu. However on the day, I could only see 1 complimentary dessert being served, that too when we asked where the desserts are. Me, being the bride, never saw the other 2 desserts, that I was so much looking forward to. This was way more disappointing that things promised were not delivered. As a host and bride, I was very disappointed with the management as things were slow and everyone in the staff looking clueless on what to be served next, clearly showing lack of management and service. Honestly, for me, they don't even deserve single star review, as instead of acting on the feedback that we were giving them on the day, they chose to be even more rude to us, which shows the most unprofessional service company. Overall, realistically, I would rate 0 stars and would recommend others to run away from this company if you want to enjoy your party/celebration. read more

We hired IDK Caterers for our wedding after several detailed discussions and planning meetings. Before the event, communication was excellent. Every menu item, service detail, and expectation was discussed and agreed upon, which gave us confidence that our wedding catering would be handled professionally. Unfortunately, everything changed after we made the final payment. The first issue was that they backed out of their promise to provide a live tandoor, claiming the venue roads were too narrow to bring the equipment to the cooking area. However, the venue staff informed us that previous caterers had successfully brought much larger stone ovens into the same location. It felt like they simply didn't want to honor what had been promised. During cocktail hour, they decided to serve four appetizers and keep 2 appetizers as live counter. However, the service was extremely slow. Trays came out infrequently, guests were left waiting for long periods, and many people couldn't get enough food. Several guests eventually gave up trying to get more appetizers. The biggest disappointment came during dinner service. Three desserts were promised: Gulab Jamun, Mango Mousse, and live Jalebi with Rabdi. We understood that the Jalebi would be prepared later because the chef was occupied at the live grill, and we were completely fine with that. What was unacceptable was that even the ready-made desserts were not served properly. Gulab Jamun wasn't brought out until roughly half the guests had already finished dinner. Mango Mousse was essentially never served during dinner, and if it was eventually brought out, it was only after most guests had left for the dance floor. The Jalebi and Rabdi were also served far too late to be enjoyed as part of dinner. The live grill was another major issue. Service was painfully slow, with guests waiting a long time just to receive a single skewer. It was obvious they were not prepared to operate a live grill for the number of guests they had agreed to serve. Our contract and payment were for 100 guests, yet only 76 people actually attended the wedding. Even with significantly fewer guests than expected, they still struggled to keep up. To make matters worse, in the middle of dinner they stopped serving one of the main entrée dishes because they claimed it had run out. Dal Makhani was also finished and could not be refilled because they said they had no more prepared. Instead, they started serving leftover Chole from cocktail hour as part of dinner. Running out of multiple main dishes when you have fewer guests than contracted is simply unacceptable and shows poor planning and preparation. When we raised these concerns, we were told they counted the number of guests based on how many dinner plates had been used. This explanation made no sense. At Indian weddings, families rarely eat at the same time. People often go back and forth, help children or elders, or eat in shifts. Counting plates instead of actual guest count is not a reasonable way to justify running out of food. Our wedding was one of the most important days of our lives, and catering is a huge part of the guest experience. Sadly, IDK Caterers failed to deliver on multiple promises despite having clear communication beforehand and receiving full payment. The execution, planning, timing, and professionalism were extremely disappointing. We expected a stress-free experience and instead had to worry about guests waiting for food, desserts never being served on time, and main dishes running out. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend IDK Caterers for an event where reliability and honoring commitments are important. read more

I hired IDK catering for my wedding with a 100 guests but am very very disappointed with the poor quality of service and lack of professionalism! Throughout the planning process they had excellent communication, they shared tasting samples and the chef himself assured us of everything. We had a clear agreement on deliverables, the communication was good and things appeared organized. However on the day of the event, food was scarce, guests were discouraged from taking more, and the worst part is that the chef was rude to our guests without basic respect and manners! We hired IDK Catering for our wedding dinner, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The biggest issue was the service. Food was served very slowly, and many of our guests had to wait a long time for dishes to be refilled. This affected the overall dining experience during our wedding. We were promised three varieties of sweets, but only one was initially served. When we asked about the other desserts, we were told they were being prepared. However, another variety was only brought out near the end of the event, when many guests had already finished eating or left. Another concern was that they tried to replace one of the promised entrée items with leftover chana from the cocktail hour instead of serving what had originally been agreed upon. The food quantities also seemed insufficient for the number of guests, resulting in several items running out quickly. During the planning process, communication was pleasant, and everything sounded well organized. Unfortunately, the execution on the day of the event did not match the promises. The team appeared unprepared and slow, despite assuring us that everything was under control. Based on our experience, I would not recommend hiring them for an important event like a wedding. This place showcases itself as an indian and mexican fusion food place. The menu was tempting and i was excited to try this new place via the catered lunch at office last week but i was so let down :( Menu items: 1. Butter chicken burrito - 3/5 loved the idea of it but it was so not butter chicken. It was basically a spicy white chole (indian garbanzo beans gravy) and rice burrito with scanty shredded chicken pieces thrown in between. I didnt taste anything like "butter chicken" in it. It was palatable but maybe they can just rename it to what they r stuffing inside it. It wasspicy 4/5 for me so if u cant handle heat, dont order it. U might get confused with seeing the name "butter chicken" but its nothing like that. 2. Paneer bhurji burrito - this was yellow turmeric and black pepper minced paneer (indian cottage cheese) with onions and spiced rice :( no taste at all. Super boring 1/5 3. Chips and salsa (green and red) were decent 4. Gulab jamun - were average and good. With our concerns with dining outside due to COVID, we wanted to replicate an upscale restaurant dining experience at home. We invited Chef Jai to cook dinner for the two of us for our anniversary. Chef Jai was very friendly and give us the dining experience we were looking for. Chef Jai prepared and served us a very contemporary Indian fusion 6 course meal. He created multiple tapa style appetizers including veg dumpling, veg tulips, sag makki canapes and sliders. The main course was Indian fusion tacos with Mexican fair and finally fig cardamom yogurt as dessert. Every item served was deliciously prepared and tastefully served. We have eaten Indian fusion food at other places but always Indian fusion food implied mellowed down flavors. Chef Jai brings the full kick of Indian flavors to fusion food, which we very much enjoyed. We had our wedding on May 6 and 7th and although every other vendor we used was fantastic, IDK was a really a disaster and many guests and ourselves really feel like they missed the mark completely. They made many promises and failed to deliver as they promised and reassured us. In fact, when we had a follow up call with them, they told us they had missed the mark and had fired staff as a result of poor performance during the event. They have also been banned from ever going back to the venue forever given their poor performance. There were multiple problems on both days of the event. (1) Food was served hours late. (over 3 hours after it was supposed be served) (2) Bar was not ready on time and didn't start serving until hours late. (3) Staff had no idea what was happening and complained about the lack of organization from IDK. Even IDK's staff complained about the organization. (4) The food we ordered was not accurate. (5) Food ran out so 50% of the people who attended did not get to eat. (6) Food was not put out for eating fast enough so people could eat it. (9) Food was not prepared well. Many dishes were raw and not prepped. Because of the poor service this caterer is banned from the property and will never be able to caterer for the event space. If you are looking for an unreliable disaster who does an awful job at communicating and won't return phone calls and emails this is the a good fit. They ruined the best day of our life and our guests are still complaining as this what the remember for our big day. read more

Trying to work with Nicolana was the worst caterer experience I've ever had. I tried to work with her to cater my wedding, and was excited by how full-service she seemed to be. She started out super responsive, and then got harder and harder to get in touch with as my wedding drew nearer. She kept making all kinds of excuses for her poor performance, and kept telling me about how hard she was trying to make things work for me. Eventually we finally got her to come see the space and do a tasting. About 10 minutes before she was supposed to arrive for the tasting, she sent me a text saying she'd be a few minutes late. She showed up almost an HOUR late, and instead of the tasting we expected, we got like three stale appetizer items she appeared to have lifted from her previous engagement. The food was sad and soggy and tasteless (though we scarfed it up because, again, we had expected real food, and had expected it an hour earlier). By this point, she had strung me along for so long that I had had to say no to some other caterers (who were a little less full-service and therefore less what I was looking for). After the tasting debacle, I immediately started looking for another caterer, which was tricky because it was about five weeks before the wedding. Thankfully, I ended up finding someone who was highly professional and who served WAY tastier food, even though I had to deal with some of the other factors I had hoped my caterer would handle. Nicolana, meanwhile, continued her streak of unprofessional behavior and just ghosted me. What an absolute waste of many hours of my life, and what a pointless stress factor to have had to deal with right before my wedding. On the other hand, given how bad the small amount of food I tasted was, maybe it's just as well that she was unprofessional, since I might have otherwise been more tempted to stick with her. read more

We used Jai and IDK Eatz for the Personal Chef component, and not the catering- and my review holds only for that portion of the business. I have to commend the ease of communication and setup of our event; Jai was very pleasant and easy to work with in preparation for our event, and the time leading up to it. However, on the day of- the experience lacked in comparison to other personal chef experiences we've had. Jai was late in getting to our event, requiring help to get things out of the car and set up, at the same time we were trying to greet and introduce our guests to each other and tour the new house. Further, while the event would have been largely fine as catering- for a personal chef @ $150/hr, we really expected more- especially for things like not having a way to turn on the grill he brought (and having to spend 45 minutes at our neighbors grill), leaving the kitchen and tables a disaster, and complaining to myself and several guests about how busy he was and how he only had time to cook. Again, for catering that would probably have been fine- but when you're a highly compensated personal chef, I'm really looking for a locked in, personalized experience that doesn't leave us with several guests commenting about how odd it was to hear him complaining about his lack of time, an event that ran too long, and us with a kitchen to scrub, (including a pan of used oil) and dozens of dishes uncollected around the house. Based on all the above I think he's likely a great caterer, but I cannot recommend him as a personal chef. read more

This is a very inefficient and bad catering company that does not know how to handle clients. I did not enjoy working on a quote with them, and I will not recommend that you hire them. I have talked to many catering companies in the past, and I clearly I saw the difference with these guys. Jai & Nicolana sent me a quote initially for a chosen menu. Although their business on Google maps says they are open 24 hours, they are actually almost never open for further discussion. After the initial quote they remained very unresponsive to my call/text/email. Then there seemed to be an abrupt breakdown in communication, despite me being very courteous with them. I also found Jai to be angry/frustrated on the phone when answering basic questions, and came across as someone who does not know the meaning of courtesy. He also did not know how to delegate questions to his other staff, if he is busy. All in all a horrible experience working with them. I will never hire them again, and I will not recommend that you do either. read more

Not only was Jai super responsive and able to craft a menu around our tight budget, but when the day came around, he was early and had the food all organized really well. This was my first attempt at personal chef and I was little apprehensive about how I will guide him in our kitchen. But Chef Jai was amazing, he managed to find his way seamlessly and I didn't have to go to the kitchen after first 10 minutes. Booking with IDKeatz and interactions with Nicolana were pleasant. They used to be very prompt in communication, but due to the summer rush, I believe they were not able to respond as quickly as possible(Seems like they are double-booked - not sure if it was only my event). They are an easy pick for almost any gathering due to their unique menu. The service overall is mediocre. Here are some details (hoping that it's limited to only mine). Overall service : Due to Jai's bad attitude and placing the blame instead of working pleasantly and communicating to resolve issues, the overall service is very bad. If the owners are reading, I wish you the best, and I hope this helps you improve your service for your future projects. Food : Food is spicy. There is no warning or recommendation about this. Please request mild spices. For anyone with future bookings - make sure this is in your contract. If you have any replacements, have that in the contract written out as well. We expressly did not want nopales and were told that they will be replaced with veggies. The tray said veggies with nopales in it. Food Safety : The setup/help does not care if the food is in the sun. Although the food was still edible during service, the starters had turned by the end of the party - 3-hour food service. Their server did not wear masks around food although they did handle food with gloves on at all times. Ease of booking : Nicolana was most helpful in booking the dates and quotes. It was very quick to plan for the event with her. Setup and Service: 0/5 This is probably only my experience - again, I would probably attribute this to just the summer graduation party rush and being double booked. I had been in discussions with Nicolana about some guests' allergies and carrying ingredient lists. We also had been communicating about where to set up the tables for food - given that it was going to be a bright sunny day. All of these were deferred to Chef Jai, who called me in the evening with questions about allergies the day before the event. This call felt very standoffish and he seemed frustrated to answer my questions. Repeated requests about the ingredient list to be present at the event seemed to further aggravate the situation. I was also told that their supplier's office would probably now be closed, and they will not be able to get the ingredient list even if they wanted to call and confirm(despite having communicated about this 3 weeks in advance). If you are overbooked, please plan ahead. As a customer, I don't need to know that you are overbooked or are working overnight to fulfill another order. This transaction is between IDKeatz and me, not the third party. Secondly, the setup was not discussed(deferred during my planning texts to the team) - where the food is to be placed, if we need additional shade, etc. We assumed this to be a professional service, and I believe there is room for improvement here - communicate and look at pictures and advice. With their onsite package, they are required to have 2 helpers minimum of 4 hours each. We booked 2 and instead got 1 helper who started late. The helper was very nice and continued to be polite throughout the event. We were not told about the helper cancellation - luckily we did not plan to use their help and had contingencies in such a failure of service. While delivering food Jai on multiple occasions tried to intimidate and ruin the whole mood. First, there is no communication or game plan - when the appetizers will be served, when the water service/lemonade will be served, etc. If you are booking, please make sure to discuss this and have it in the contract. The delivery of food was late. Jai impolitely confronted that they should have been told about when the guests will start arriving and that they are uncomfortable setting it up in front of guests. I had communicated to IDKeatz that the event and servers are to be on-site from 10am-2pm with food service from 11am-1pm. I don't know what else to communicate to their team. The food service and water stations were still 30 minutes late. Their team did their own setup teardown at the contract exit time and left their area clean. A few friends who seemed interested to hire them were told about this experience before making their decision. read more

We recently had the pleasure of working with Jai and IDK Eatz for our company holiday party. The service from start to finish was great. We had several dietary restrictions including a vegan guest and children, and Jai was able to tailor the menu to everyone. He was responsive to emails, calls and texts and so helpful with questions. We catered from IDK Eatz for an intimate gathering for friends in our bubble. LOVED the entire experience, from ordering to eating the yummy food! We loved his creative "fusion" twist to Indian foods. Chef Jai was super responsive to texts and emails, made a personalized menu for us based on our requirements, and provided a lot of good suggestions. We had also ordered a tasting session from him to help us decide which food items to order, and even THAT was an awesome experience! The food also arrived exactly on time, and the contactless payment and delivery option was great! We only ordered a few food items since it was not a large event (thanks to the pandemic), but our guests could not stop raving about the food. They even came over several times to specifically tell us that the Aloo Tikki Sliders (Indian potato patty sliders) and Jalapeño pakoras were AWESOME! We enjoyed the tacos, both veg and non-veg (my favorite was the paneer bhurji). His salsas have a great kick (if requested), which many guests will love. My husband and I were in constant touch with Jai for weeks before our event and we were freaking out on the quantity and what to get. We amended our menu like 6 times. Jai was cooperative and made our changes every-time we spoke to him. ( Anyone else would be annoyed with frequently changing menu and revising quotes ) In fact Jai was advising us what should we keep in menu that is appropriate for the pooja and appropriate quantity. Jai and idk are simply the best and do an awesome job in making sure that the food for ur party is well taken care of. We had jai and his team cater for our last minute diwali party and he literally hit it out of the park. We had done a chaat counter followed by dinner and all the items were fab both in presentation as well as the taste. All of our guests loved the live chaat counter.
