I had a phone screen and two onsite visits with Heidi when she was still at her Northgate location back in November 2017. Ancient Yelp post, I know. She has since then moved to her Lynnwood location. I underwent the screening and paid out of pocket for the lab work up. She was very thorough, personable, and passionate about her profession. Upon first meeting, you knew she really cared about your well-being and listened to your concerns. I ended up with a lot of information to digest, but in the end I did not pursue one of her tailored programs. What I did greatly appreciate though seven months later, there was no pressure and the information provided enough guidance for me to make tangible changes in my diet and lifestyle.

I first saw her when I was struggling to recover…read morefrom a virus that had lingered for months -- it seemed like every time I started to feel better, I'd have a setback and feel tired and miserable again. I started feeling some improvements within a month and by four months was feeling so much better than I've felt in years. To be honest, the foods Heidi told me I needed to avoid.. I already knew I should avoid. But, what really helped me were the things she had me add to my diet, both whole foods and supplements. Many of us have tried dietary changes that center on what you can't have. If you're like me, you focus on what you can't have or can't do, and eventually your will power fades. It helped that Heidi handed me a list of foods I actually like to focus on eating, but really what made it doable is that Heidi is very kind and doesn't expect or want perfection from you. When I have a hectic week or am traveling and can't make ideal meal choices, I am able to rely on my supplement regime to fill in the gaps. These days my health and energy level are a little up and down (depending on how closely... or not... I follow Heidi's recommendations, so there's a NYE resolution somewhere in that). When I was following my plan pretty strictly, my primary care doctor was so thrilled with the improvement in my health that she said she wasn't going to ask questions about what I was doing because she loved the results. :)

Walked out feeling like I got way more than that. Dr. Jason picked up on where I was at almost right away and just leveled with me. He talked me through how IV therapy actually works and explained NAD+ in a way that made me realize I've done this three times before and never actually had NAD+ in my drip. That part alone changed how I'm thinking about the whole thing. Michelle is also super direct, which I really appreciated. She's clearly skilled (didn't feel the stick at all) and just easy to be around. I felt comfortable the whole session. I got a lot out of meeting both of them and want to come back not just for the drip but to actually catch up. This is my go-to spot now. Jason also recommended a book, Mask of 1000 Faces, and I've already started reading it. Hitting exactly where I needed it to. Thanks Jason and Michelle.

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Steve Morris was not so stellar. He seems to take a very cookie cutter approach to diagnosis and treatment. (The reason I prefer naturopaths to medical MDs is that I expect them to be more holistic in their approach.) Not too long into my first visit he handed me a lifestyle sheet, essentially an eating and exercise plan, which he said that he recommends to all his patients. He did this prior to understanding my medical history or current condition. When I told him that I was experiencing insomnia, he told me it was from drinking coffee and eating heavy meals at dinner. He pronounced this without asking any additional questions about frequency, when it started, changes in lifestyle, etc. When I told him I was having headaches, he told me it was from dehydration. Again, he made this pronouncement without asking any additional questions like where does it hurt, what type of pain, etc. The nail in the coffin for me was that he gave me iodine pills as a supplement for hypothyroidism. My previous naturopath had never done this so I did some research when I got home. Iodine is only recommended for hypothyroidism when it's caused by iodine deficiency. In fact, excess iodine can make hypothyroidism worse so supplements are not recommended if your iodine levels are normal. Dr. Morris never tested my iodine levels. In addition, iodine is especially not recommended if you have an auto-immune form of hypothyroidism, which I have, which I told him. Cookie cutter approach and lack of thorough investigation is bad enough; prescribing treatment contraindicated for my disease is unacceptable.
