This facility and its program are amazing. I was seen at the Monroe location but that isn't listed yet as it's quite new. I was on Rx opiates through a pain contract with my GP for more than five years. I was barely into my 30s and already requiring more medication daily than many people receive in end of life care or after surgeries. It shouldn't have been a surprise when my clinic told me that GP'S could no longer provide pain contracts and I had 30 days to find a new pain doctor who would accept my insurance. This was a policy change across the board for several major healthcare facilities in the Pacific northwest so the few places that did take my insurance had no availability. I was a mother to two young children, caring full time for a mother dying of breast cancer and had nobody that could fill in for me while I went away to some inpatient rehab clinic that would cost me thousands. This was the beginning of what would become the opioid epidemic and surge in heroin and fentanyl use and subsequent overdose deaths this country is still dealing with today. Thousands of people ripped off medications they've been legally taking for years and left to figure it out with no help or resources.
I went through a week of epic withdrawal before a close friend who was in a similar boat offered me Suboxone. This medication is life saving. If Ideal Option had been around several years ago, I truly believe thousands of lives could have been saved.
When quarantine began the access I had to this medication became strained and I was tired of the secrecy required to maintain my recovery. I live with several chronic pain conditions and this medication not only helps control my pain but alleviates the cravings for traditional painkiller medications; make no mistake- even taken properly anyone can become addicted to opiates after years of constant use. I wanted to get a job, have a surgery I've been avoiding because my doctors don't know my honest post operative needs and I was tired of being ashamed of something I should be proud of having survived!
I reached out through their online contact form and requested an appointment. I had an appointment for the following morning within a couple of hours. The facility was clean and bright and the front end medical receptionist was so kind, friendly and helpful! After the questionnaire I was taken to a room to get my vitals. She explained each step clearly before we proceeded. Once that was done I was set up in an office in front of a computer where I had my virtual visit and we decided on medication, dosing, and I was given proper instruction on how to take it. I'll have weekly appointments initially then biweekly and eventually monthly/bimonthly. I wish I'd done this so much sooner. The staff could not have been more encouraging and welcoming.
If you're feeling trapped, ashamed, sick and tired of hiding and missing out on life trying to manage a disease you can't manage alone, please reach out. This clinic really takes the shame stigma out of the recovery process. Just be honest during intake, don't miss your appointments and make sure you're addressing the other factors that got you here through a support group or therapist/ counselor and you can be free and step out of the dark!
