We ended up doing all the trees, one big one, 4 smaller ones. They were told not to drive their rig and chipper in the backyard, somehow they decided that it would be OK and left big ruts in the backyard. I called them on it and they said they would send someone to fix them up, which they did, and just put a few wheelbarrels of dirt in the deepest ruts. After mowing and bouncing around over the ruts, I called them again and they said he would be out personally to take care of it on 27th of August, never heard another word. For sure I will think of them every time I have to deal with running over those ruts as I mow. Very unfortunate.

Arnold was quick with a quote and came out to check personally. He's a great young man, works the tree business and helps in charitable efforts with a group on the Northwest side of town. Can't go wrong with a hard working man with a heart for others. He gave me a more than reasonable bid and sent his team out to work on Wednesday as Snowpocalypse 2025 wound down. They went straight to work, trimming the big trees and removed the two problematic trees within a couple of hours. They grinded stumps and removed all the debris and were personable throughout. I don't think you could find a better group.

So I opened up a Yelp project for sprinklers. For anyone who hasn't used this feature, I highly recommend trying it out and opting in to receive texts the next time you have a service need; multiple businesses start messaging you, and your phone starts blowing up like you're the most popular kid in high school. Emmanuel is the owner of Meme Landscaping. He was one of two businesses that were available this morning, and he's the owner himself. Between supporting a local business (with technicians) and a small local business (sole technician!), I went with the latter, and he arrived at 8am on the dot. Awesome first impression in addition to being punctual - you know when you see a kind soul. He went to the garage and looked at the control box. Turns out that the "issue" was just the system not having been set properly: the date and time were all off, probably due to the recent rain and lightning. He reset the current time and watering time - and voila, Zone 1 started showering the grass like nobody's business. Facepalm for me. Since he was there, he assessed all the sprinklers by zone. One sprinkler head was leaking and another had too big of a nozzle, so I opted to replace those. Feel free to do your research but I do mine, and the price was reasonable. The whole thing from assessment to replacement took 30 minutes. I paid via Zelle and he's going to send me the invoice by email for my records. If you want someone punctual, kind, efficacious, and overall excellent, Emmanuel is your guy. Wouldn't go to anyone else for my sprinkler needs.
